pit greenhouse grow

Can't find much information on what I'm involved in this year. I decided to do an outside grow for the first time after finding there's a large island made by a creek diverging and reconverging just outside a lake. On top of that, there's an invasive species from brazil that has taken over the land with very tall stalks that have all died in a recent ice storm, making my grow spot even more imperceptible. Originally I was just going to dig a large plot for 10 autoflowering plants in a dense patch of one of these invasive species. I ended up with a 9x9x5 foot hole with 2 feet of dirt on the sides, about 7 solid hrs of work. I plan on putting plastic over the top of this for a greenhouse. Since I'm already in the clay layer I was planning on digging three and five gallon holes and filling it with coir, since I'm also doing regular seeds I was going to install a scrog on half of the area to keep it all in the greenhouse. Once I harvest the autoflowers I'll be planting clones from the scrog and hopefully keep this spot in production all year long.
I am uncertain if the sides will hold up when it rains or if it will fill with water even though it can't come in through the top. I'm also not sure if the intense sun will force me to open up the plastic sheeting during the summer or what kind of ventilation I need to have. Is 5 feet enough or should I be going deeper for better temperature control. I really want superb sun grown herb and I figure this setup will protect the plants from the elements while hiding them from helicopters (they were flying this area last year)

Update

I put the auto's that I have been growing for two months now in a resivoir pond that has little meter by 9meter islands instead of the large hole I dug. I bought an inflatable kayak and trucked in coco-coir for this next batch of auto's I got online.

I need extra income and I'm having no luck with a job search. So I'm trying to make this into my other part time job. As luck would have it I ended up with a male from the first batch and I'm betting on getting allot of seeds. The male plant is about 2 meters away from what I want pollinated. One plant looks like it's two weeks from done but no signs of fertilization.

I went back to my pit yesterday (4/19) and cleared some land and took the vegetation and covered the bottom with green, then I put about three inches of topsoil on top of the vegetation. Not sure why I did this. I was being hassled by bees the entire time. I figure I can grow twenty colas in the space, I'm also thinking I'm going to plant beans (a vine) next to them cause of the hella air traffic but idk about the extra water requirements are worth it. I'm also going to truck in more coco-coir and expand on my islands but it all depends on if I can get some seeds from my current spot on "weed island"

Some canadian geese started a brood on the other side of the island and I'm now expecting two goslings in the next few days or weeks.
