Native Clay in the mix.

Has anyone used Azomite? They claim it is a very mineralized clay mined in Utah. My Hydro shop got in a bulk shipment so I just got a pound. It is a pinkish powder and they claim it is very good for plants. There is no glacial or volcanic rock dust around here so I am trying to find a substitute.

azomite is good stuff.

i already have it in the mix ...... bet i'm not the only one

So my girlfriend and her boss dug that clay up the other day and brought it home. They spread it out on a tarp in the sun so that it was about 1" thick. They allowed it to dry out for most of the day. It was then tamped to bust up any clods. Then it was screened down (talking finer than window screen). The end product looks much like glacial rock dust.

It seems like too much would cause drainage issues.

I've been drying and powdering it and and then sprinkling on the worm bin.

If there is a clay-humus crumb shortcut that's gotta be it...
