I have your system waiting in the wings. Only 4 bucket for now (maybe 6?) but I will expand it down the line. So I have gavita 600 and 4' 6lamp t5. Presuming 6 out of 10 of my plants are girls should I grow all of em? Or just take the best 4?

Ok I was wrong. My flood times didn't change. My shit was dried out because the fucking pump broke. Just my luck. Nothing is working out tonight. At least the harvest went well. So at 12 noon the pump was working and things were fine. I snapped those pictures at 9 PM after only 6 plants were dunked because they are in a similar position like yours where the solution don't reach those as well so those got their solution on time but the rest of them didn't for 15 hours after the flood. Luckily I was being observant and I was about to smoke a joint and pass out but I happened to be looking at the plants and noticed something didn't look right. Good thing I caught and had another pump on hand.

If your crop works out and you make some money, invest in my systems and the VEG-A stations that I have. It will safe you loads of trouble and it's not that much money. My 10 bucket systems are less than $400 for everything except the cages. The pumps are included in that price. Before you know it, you'll have 2,000 watts and a 10 bucket system producing at least 4 pounds a crop.

Where did you get the lid for your ebb and flow tray? None of the local hydro stores has one like it. Is it just a special order botanicare? How much did it cost?

Also you mentioned pythium... You scared me so I bought some hygrozyme to help keep things clean in there. Do you have any experience with this product? As I understand it, it will help clean out dead roots without shocking my plants at all.

The tray lid is special order. It's cost around $70. I used hygrozyme once and got root rot. I never tried it again after that. I can't really speak for it because I had no real experience except 1 crop. I use chlorine.

I have read many people believe hygrozyme gave them root rot. I was not planning on running it in the system, only using it to clean up any decying material left behind by my inept watering. Then drain and refill rez without the hyrgozyme. I hate to use a product with questionable results though, I read it over and over on this website, people trying to fix things using products supposedly for that problem with terrible results. I will return the Hygrozyme. Maybe h2o2 to clean with same plan to change rez out after use. Or just leave it alone and keep up the bleach regimen.

Glad I saw this, I was about to purchase some Hygrozyme. It sure sucks that companies are putting out faulty products. I use h2o2 to wipe down my cab for cleaning time.
Is your bleach regiment documented on here?
I'm going to have a look.

I am just using Snype's bleach regimen. Shoot for .5ppm bleach, 1ml bleach per 44 gallons of water. That is for veg and flower. Add this once per week. Check out Snype's tutorials it gives you the break down. Read careful because Clorox recently changed the formula so depending on your level of bleach concentration you will need to adjust the above regimen.

Thanks for kickin it Old School in the Bay!

50 posts = avatar! Nice one. Ever see the movie where muhammad Ali plays himself? I think it's called the greatest. there is 1 thing I love where he is jogging with all his trainers you start talking. He says you know 1 thing that makes me a champ as when I'm running and I feel like I can't run anymore I just keep on running and I say to myself oh man I can run it so I keep on running and as he saying that on his trainers are falling behind him, but he doesnt' notice and he keeps running and saying how tired and how much he feels like quitting but he just keeps on runnin. I love this scene.

Greatest Of All Time

Greatest Of All Time

Thanks buddy! In 2011 I had a profile and got 240 posts, so with this new profile I've been hustling around the site following grows and asking for advice.
I haven't seen the film you're talking about but I've seen "Ali" and a large handful of documentaries on him. His work ethic was incredible. GREATEST OF ALL TIME. I've also watched nearly all of his fights that were televised. He is one of my heroes.

How are those roots doing?

Aww man the roots are lookin like a fat pair of titties, I just want to lick em! Doin great 2-3" down now and startin to ladder out. I'd take a pic but my phone just died. Gotta charge er up. All the plants are growin fast now. I Fimmed half of em and will only LST the other half. I have been maintaining my flood to the bottom of the net pots every 4 hours and a complete submersion hand dunk every 12 hours. Seems to be working but I am wondering if I should be increasing the flood frequency. Ph is pretty stable but did raise .1 since I measured 24 hours ago. Also my ppm has not decreased measurably in days. Because of this I have maintained my light 18" above plants and have not increased flood frequency.

If you look at my RDWC tutorial thread you can see my roots in VEG-A. Like I say in that thread, my flood cycle is every hour by the 7th or 8th day. Once you are at 6 hours per flood, within 2 days you will be at 4 hours per flood. By the next day you will be at 3 hours. Day after that is every 2 hours. Next day is every hour. It's that simple.

I read the shit out of that RDWC thread. Especially after I asked a dumb ass question answered in that thread (about the e&f lid). Only thing is, there are not many progression pics of the roots, I thought because I screwed everything up to start that I should probably slow down the schedule to compensate. I have just been playing it by ear the past days and watching the plants closely. I realize today though that I am not all that sure what I am watching for aside from making sure they are moist but not drenched and never dry.

According to your roots from the other day, I'd be flooding at least every 4 hours by now. At least.

Yes I am on 4 hour flood cycle, it seems to be agreeing with plants and I planned on leaving it that way one more day, switch up to three hours tomorrow.

Sounds about right without seeing anything. Just make sure the tips of the roots aren't looking different. As long as the tips of the roots stay white then you are on the right path but after you go to 3 hours, you will be at 2 hours within 2 days at most. If you don't see massive root growth at 2 hours, then you went too fast or you have other problems. Now back to my girl Britney!

Got my phone charged here are a couple root pics and one of all the plants. The last 5 have been fim'd. I am increasing to 3 hour flood cycle and I have to figure out a way to hand dunk without risking injury to the roots. They are getting long enough that the trip in and out of the hole for the net pot is becoming increasingly treacherous to the roots.

Oh yeah diggin the Britney. Gettin me all kinds of motivated!

Looking healthy! Root porn is always nice. Sounds scary with the net pot hole issue, are you opposed to root trimming? Am I not understanding the problem? I had a DWC sour bubble mom and man, she had some serious roots. I'm going to post a picture in my thread.

First off if love to say wow. Nice grow n root porn indeed.
Is it the roots catching on the edge of the hole ??
I've seen some people cut the whole a lil bigger n split airline tubbing and running around the inside of the hole. To allow the roots to not catch :D

yep you got it stoney. worried about roots catchin on the sides. Hate to chop off some after all the work I put in gettin em to grow out. Good tip there, that will at least take off the sharp edge. Im thinkin I will just mess with the water level in the system, increase the water so it can fill to the top but raise the pump up so It cannot completely fill the system, then when I want to fill it all the way I will just manually put the pump on the bottom of the res, fill the flood table, then move the pump back to its raised position.
