GH Seeds African Expedition-Malawi?

Seasons Greetings to All,

Does anyone know what happened to that killer Malawi pheno in the video? I can't find that strain anywhere on their site.

Logic dictates to me that a man who has won many Cannabis Cups, and earned millions of dollars by taking and selling genetics from poor countries would be truly grateful, and share them with his MJ fellows.

What's the true purpose of acquiring landrace strains, showing them to the world, and then not sharing them? Is it pride or greed? Pride gets no pleasure in possessing something, only in having more. IMHO, if men don't intend to share or sell to others, maybe they should keep it to themselves instead of publicly displaying their ignorance and taunting us with their grow/theft reports.

Sharing is giving the true credit to the peoples who have long since died, even those who preserved the strains during their sojourn on this Earth. Where would cannabis be without seedsmen, or men that share? I wish a happy, healthy and prosperous new year to all of the truly great men and women breeders who know the pleasure and wealth in giving.

Seeds' man - a person who deals in seeds - a sower of seeds

Could that Malawi be in the freezer with the other 1200 strains?

I'm betting that Malawi is being "worked over" into something they feel is marketable. ;) If seed to harvest is 4 months (12/12 - about 4 weeks to first flower, then approx 16 weeks to harvest), F6 would be a minimum of 24 months. Also, if breeding doesn't go as planned/hoped it may be a loooong time before you've got something to sell.

Reading about the owners of GHS I imagine they plan to sell/make money on any/every investment.

My 2 cents

Lol.... Or I could learn to count. 20 weeks is 5 months... duh!

As more people become interested in growing their own stash, there's also an increasing demand for pure landrace strains, which is good because it will help insure their survival. If I had 1200 strains in a deep freeze, millions in the bank, and 400,000 packs of seed going out annually, I wouldn't horde the genetics. In fact I would do the opposite: with that video as proof, there's plenty of money to be made from the pure strain. I would then dare go to even more dangerous locations.

Time and chance happen to all men.

I hear ya Edison. I just doubt GHS would ever release a true landrace, though. I'm sure Arjan will try to leverage the shit out of it. ;)

From what I know, GHS are creating a 'sister company' that will carry all and only the landrace genetics that they collected during their travels to the various countries.

Here's a video from youtube made by, Urban Grower. He briefly interviews Franco, fast forward to 2:25 for information about the new landrace seed company.

Unfortunately, I don't think most seed companies agree upon what the term "Landrace genetics" means.

For instance, I followed the "Jamaican Expedition" on GHS website. They spent a lot of time in Orange Hill near Negril, a famous growing area. Problem is that there has been lots of Dutch genetics flowing in over the past 25 years. How do you establish that some Rasta's brand is strictly old-school?

We need a Strain Hunters expedition to Somalia, Southern Sudan, Central African Republic or Democratic Republic of the Congo :whistling:

Do you know what happened to this plan? So far they're 0 for 8 on landraces and appear to only be offering poly-hybrids

Hi Tangwena

I presume you will be going to DRC?

I would like to go there but it is very expensive, and I'm a poor man. And very dangerous too.

Best regards.
