Hanks 1k tent

Hey everyone! So after a few months of piecing things together and saving up enough money I'm finally on my way to growing my own meds. My setup right now is a 5x5 Gorilla Grow Tent with a Titan 2 Co2 controller and 20# tank. I have all the plants sitting in 100% coco using the entire Canna Coco line with a scoop of Great White every other week for the roots. So far they're under 24 hours of light with a 400w MH. I'll be flipping all of them on the 1st of the year. I have 3 different strains going Heand Band & Special K by Med-man and some Ultra Sonja by Grindhouse. I do not know the sexes yet so I'm planning on pulling most of these plants in the next few weeks. I really don't have much to say besides sorry for the poor quality pictures. I'm using my iPad since my phone took a crap on me. I should be getting better quality pictures here in the next week or so. Thanks for checking my tent out. I hope I can learn a few things and help some people out on the way too.

Your plants look healthy! I think I'll tag along for this one... Curious to see how your setup evolves as you transition your way to higher wattages.

Hey merrblah thanks for stopping by. Yeah they're doing a lot better from earlier. I was using tap water before switching over to RO and had a salt build up problem. Besides that these babies are doing great! Here's a few photos of my setup...

What's your ventilation situation -- Do you just run air though the light and keep the grow sealed or are you exhausting on some cycle?

Great question. Since they're under 24 hours of light I have the tent cracked about a foot. I don't yet have a thermometer so I don't know the exact temp but I'm guessing it's around 72-77 degrees. Im installing a 4 inch inline fan hooked up to a carbon filter venting for 30 seconds every 15 minutes or what works to keep the temp at an optimal level. I know I'll be wasting co2 but it won't matter since the tent is only 5x5x7 and not too big. I do have a small booster fan pulling cold air from a cracked window through the light to keep it down and to move that hot air out of the tent. I'm sure I'll have to figure something out once I bump it up to 1000W.

And it took 8 days to go through a full 20# Co2 tank so that's not too bad with the tent being cracked. I'm guessing the co2 will add about 2-4 ounces maybe more...?

Okay, let me begin by saying I have not used CO2 nor have I run a sealed setup.

However, I do know heat management very well. And if you're at mid-70's with a 400W, you're going to need serious, continuous ventilation to manage the heat of the 1000W without A/C.

That being said, I look forward to tackling whatever issues may arise. I would STRONGLY recommend purchasing a cheap thermometer/hygrometer (should cost about $20) with a high/low record keeper. The more data points you have the better.

Until then, you can just visually check the plants (they look good meow) for signs of heat stress. CO2 should bump the plants heat tolerance up a bit as well.

I was thinking of pulling air from that cracked window into the tent. It's about 35 degrees outside but if that wasn't going to work I was just going to have the room constantly exhausted and cool the hood at the same time plus scrap Co2 and come back to that later or use it in veg to speed things up. Thanks for the advice I know I'll be asking questions.

The current temp in the room with the lights on is 70 degrees on the nuts. What do you think that 1000 w would bump it to 100? I've only used my 400 so I've never really had heat issues.

Yeah, if you ventilate that 1000W you should be fine on temperatures in the tent, assuming a non-ridiculous ambient room temperatures.

WITHOUT pulling heat out of a sealed environment (just running air through lights) AND no A/C, you'd easily exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit with the 1000W in a 5 x 5 tent. They throw off a lot of heat if left unchecked and amplify that in small spaces.

If you've never run a 1000W I would recommend going with a standard airflow setup:
air enters through passive intake bottom of tent (leave the flaps open) -> air exits through carbon filter at top of tent (highest point) -> inline exhaust fan -> through light fixture -> exits top of tent.

Compared to a 400W everything is going to be bigger and happen faster so it would be best to get dialed in with the basic setup before attempting a sealed environment with CO2 (even fast growth rates/disaster rate; i.e., when things go right/wrong they go right/wrong faster).

Hey everyone! Just an update Ill put the flowers into 12/12 tomorrow. I know that the tent is looking full but unless 21/21 are all female I should be good. I did some shopping and bought a 4x4 table, 8 imch Vortex S-Line fan and a Phresh Filter. Nothing really new beside that. I should be getting my Solis Tek 1000W here soon. I'm cutting out the co2 since I'm upgrading to the 1000W so you can take that out.

Sexy fan… How are the noise levels?? Remember to ease the plants into the fan use and gradually move it up -- they're going to go from no air turnover to several times per minute.

The plants look good! Keep up the good work and best of luck!

Hey merrblah! The fan is doing good. I'm surprised how quiet the fan is! Just put my order in for a 1000w. Bought it on amazon and saved about $75 compared to the local shop. The plants are looking great!

Just a quick update found 10 males as of right now. That leaves me with 1 confirmed female and 10 unknown. It's been a week of 12/12 and I should know the sex of the rest of them hopefully soon. I'll throw some pictures up here in the next few days.
