I'm vaguely versed on the subject.

I'm vaguely versed on the subject.

There are premade hardware loggers you can buy via USB that require you leave the USB
connected or if you know C++ or .py essentially what you're trying to code is a keyboard
device driver. Kind of a sketchy subject, unless you elaborate what you intend on doing.

Billy - it really depends on what you want it to do. Many today will track not only the keystrokes but websites, programs, etc.. What is your requirements?

If you have a router you can enable the logging or web filtering at that level. Do you have one, and if so which one?

Just look at their web browsing history. Or you could just ask your kids. Building mutual trust is everything in parenting.

ya im raising some sneaky buggers. they know how to and erase the web browsing history. when i look it up all i see is the newspapers i read in the morning before work. i am basically looking to track their surfing and check their email. what key logger will do this well without a virus???

Well then, all you have to do is get some software that lets you control what your kids see on the Internet. Last thing you need is a keylogger.

orrr better yet. dont break your kids privacy. just ask them if anyone who cared for me went through my personal stuff i would have a fit. trust works both ways

more education happening on the internet than in the damn schools these days...i wouldn't want to impinge or hamper their pursuit of what interests them. retro to when i was experimenting with psychedelics...
if they're guilted into erasing their browsing history, the trust is already damaged.

what is it in particular you're worried about them seeing?

Nobody should really tell anyone how to parent their children, and I'm going to be far from "that guy"...

But damn man, a key logger? I can understand that you may be concerned of the vast array of material that I would not want my potential children looking at, but a key logger and knowing their emails is getting into their personal business, which may really put a strain on any father/son father/daughter mother/son mother/daughter relationship.

Granted, they are your children, and I suppose you have a right to their business indeed - but this will be a start of a very hard path between child and parent if you compromise their privacy entirely.

Every situation is different, but all of my friends growing up that had their parents go through their personal stuff HATED their parents, and some, still to this day do not have bonds with their parents like I do.

That's all I'm going to say about that, and I can't say much because I am not a parent - but I think the proper steps here would be to limit what they can view/use on the internet and start building some trust.

Sorry for your troubles and good luck to you.

I can't recommend a good key logger because I haven't used one in years, I just wanna show support for you. It's a dangerous world out there and parents gotta protect their kids against the deep dark corners of the internet.

Things have gotten worse since we were young.

I'm a fan of privacy and frequent TOR often, but there is scary shit out there.

My parents got involved in my computer usage when I was in high school, so I just went offline with my porn.

I don't hate them and I'm probably a better person for all the internet snooping they did.

To this day, I don't know how much they knew.

lol.

A key logger for your children???

First and foremost, I would think it would be in ones best interest to have a good relationship with their children. If you found out someone you were close to was spying on you what route would that relationship permanently take? My guess is a route heading south.

If you have to spy on your children in order to ensure they know right from wrong then i think you need to reform your parenting policies.

The smart play would be to use wisdom instead of spy tactics in order to get through to your kids because when they will grow up, they will remember which tactic you used and that could either make or break your relationship.

If it is to prevent them from viewing porn then good luck. Its in many more places then the net.

in conclusion, if you want to be lazy and not teach your kids wisdom or right from wrong then you could just bluff them out and tell them you will be installing software that monitors everything they type or view on the internet. They should use the internet with that mindset anyways because in 2014, eyes are on everyone's data.
