I'm sure most of you are aware of the privacy violation that has occurred. I have heard there will be a class action lawsuit for this and want to get people's thought and opinions on this.

What do all of you think? Should we all sign up for the lawsuit? Is it a bad idea?

I would love as many people as possible to chime in.

Yes this has been discussed on other threads but no worries. I have already emailed Branch Macmaster to add my name to the database for the class action. The process as of right now is the application for a class action has been filed, and now its a wait and see if the case will be approved as a class action or not. Not sure when the courts will decide but ive heard it will be early this year. Adding your name to the list doesn't do much till its been approved as a class action so no hurry to sign up. Check out the info at http://www.branchmacmaster.com/medical-marihuana/

To collect and funds (remedy), the cours have to be satisfied that it was deliberate and that you suffered loss of income, property, etc. IMHO, this will not go anywhere.

i sgned up the day it came out

contray to what hvac guy says, there are already cases that have been sastified by the courts that are most similar to this case. that paid out 800,000,000 clams.

this one is a no brainer. as emotional cost is easy to prove herem and a breach of charter rights and agreements we have with HC.

That case for $800M is no where near the same and contrary to MM, I do have a lot of brackground with litigable matters. Conroy is full of shit and seen his sleezy disposition with other matters in Federal Court. You think you'll get $20K cause of an addressed label, good luck on that one.

I feel the same way. It was no accident. Someone had to have gone out of their way to do this, someone overlooked this and someone permitted it. There was no way it was just a simple oversight.

I also don't think we'll be getting any compensation. Although I do feel it's absolutely immoral and puts people in danger. Although I don't grow in my home, I'm mortified to think someone may believe that I do. Fucking ridiculous. Fuck Health Canada!

I totally agree, someone had to sign the order that would over ride normal protocols.

The letter of notification, could have been sent out with the all renewals. That way HC could have had signed receipt that the notice was received...Which would be much more sensible.

Peace...B

Latest Update on Class action:

Dear Mr XXXXXX

"We write to provide an update in relation to the proposed class action lawsuit against Health Canada in relation to the potential breach of privacy arising from mail outs conveyed by Health Canada in November 2013 with a return address identifying that the mail out was conveyed in relation to the “Marihuana Medical Access Program”. We are working together with three other law firms with respect to this action: McInnes Cooper, Sutts, Strosberg LLP and Charney Lawyers.

We have recently launched an enhanced secure online registration system. Anyone who received the November 2013 letter from Health Canada should register on the registration system at https://www.terida.com/mmhc/login.seam. If you have communicated with our office or otherwise provided us with your contact information, you should still register with the secure registration system. Registration on the website will assist us in prosecuting the class action and assessing what potential damages were suffered by the class as a whole. Anyone who has questions or encounters difficulty with the registration system may contact us toll-free at 1.866.241.9914.

On February 20, 2014, the plaintiffs obtained an order permitting them to pursue their action against Health Canada utilizing a pseudonym. In most cases, parties to a legal action are required to name themselves and their names become part of the public record. However, the Federal Court found that the plaintiff’s privacy should be protected and to deny the plaintiffs their anonymity in the action would result in the disclosure of the very information they seek to protect, thereby exacerbating the damage already caused by Health Canada’s November 2013 mailing. Health Canada has appealed the Federal Court’s decision in this regard. A date for the appeal to be heard has not yet been set down but we anticipate it will be heard in the next month.

In the next stage of the litigation, the plaintiffs will seek an order from the Federal Court of Canada to certify the lawsuit as a class action.
All further updates regarding the class action will be posted at www.marijuanaclassaction.com/. Please visit that website periodically to obtain updates as they are available. Please understand that a court action can take months, if not years, to proceed."

Please anybody who received one of these letters should join the action, these fuckers at HC need to realize we will stand up for our rights!

so basically health Canada is trying to breach our privacy again in order to proceed with the class action? They are magnificent bastards.....
