I took today off. Decided my ankle was not acting flexible enough but then...

I'm so stupid...I drove my truck over to a community compost pile (due to fire hazard removal..they set up a chipper every so often and people bring their brush/limbs etc to be chipped) and loaded a bed full of mulch with a pitch fork but then...

had to put it into a plastic trash can so that I could haul it down my hill to my back garden bed. Wearing flip flops..this ended up being as hard on my ankle as running would have been but...

I managed to get a lot of it moved (would have got it all moved...but gardening neighbors stopped by to chat me up...neighbor time being important for the well being of community) without incident..but still...not very smart if I'm trying to rehab my ankle

....weather out here is grand...great way to end the year

ha! i stopped and talked to the neighbors too, thats funny...in this case it was the bikers down the street, there were a bunch alongside me as i made the final turn for home so i just rode in and parked with them...im still pretty goofy with endorphins from the ride...i was about to say i cant tell you how it felt to crest the pass that second time, but im pretty sure you understand exactly what im talking about...im noodle legged but i feel strangely good....im pretty sure i will be able to mostly sleep this ride off ,and be able to take an easy spin tomorrow, take a half day on thursday and haul groceries and such, maybe take a full day off friday and be set for the weekend...i want to hit that same trail network again, there were lots of people out there,im trying to find someone to ride with now...thats a tough one,may have to recruit more than one person unless i can find another retired pothead to ride with...

1st of the Year....

1st of the Year....

..brings an end to the pollinations in the Hell Mox build

^ These are Hell Hound IX1's...with the "Freak" expression on the right. The plant on the left is one of those typical OG Jam leaning expressions (I was talking..yesterday..about how this expression is now popping up)

It was brutal getting these plants out of the flowering studio for isolated pollinations...a serious pain in the ass. It took me a couple hrs to get them out...get them defoliated...get them pollinated..get them sprayed down...get them back into their places..and to get them tied back out of the bulbs. Totally sucked balls. Hope it's worth it.

Grand total of plants selected to make the Hell Mox beans:

3 Mox Mox IX1 males

3 Hell Hound IX1 males

1 Mox Mox F1 female

3 Mox Mox IX1 females

7 Hell Hound IX1 females

* I am completely burned out...this project has been taking me to my limits. Don't really know how I'm pulling it off...my rooms are a cluster fuck of expression...there are literally plants tied to every rafter...to every wall...to anything I can string wire to. An overwhelming amount of time and effort went into it. My brain is sizzled from focusing so long on this project...and

fuck...I'm about to get into that Thrill Kill run. It won't be as in depth...but I'm looking at some nice stuff..I'll not want to pass on

** If you think it's easy being compulsively attached to making your own lines....think again. The further you get along...the further you get sucked in. It's never enough. It never ends. Like chasing shadows out of the peripheral vision...seeing but a glimpse as they disappear over the ridge line

Amen to that!
I've taken some time off from my own stuff to run some haze hybrids, (most done by friends here) as well as a few 'elite' cuts.
It's a nice break, but there's always that voice in back of my head telling me "it's all well and good, but you've got this, this, and this to do to get to that, so let's get with it."

A friend of mine here just turned 50 and was prioritizing his seed collection, figuring out how many grows he had left. Got me doing the same. Time waits for no one. :clock watch:

Well, maybe the Stones. :)

I like that. Prioritizing the seed collection. That's a mature way of looking at it. I'm turning 48 soon enough..and not even that...just never know how long I'll continue to have the drive it takes..to get from here to there.

In a way I'm now prioritizing my bean collection with these current projects. If I could only take one line of beans with me...I'd grab all the Hell Mox beans. I know there will always be good stuff in those..with enough genetics in them to provide different directions..different expressions.

....the stones. good stuff

Plants on the Wing

Plants on the Wing

Moving...spend much time moving plants and assorted objects around

^ I have to butcher vegging plants..pretty much..on a daily bases. That is to say..I must keep cutting them back..defoliating their guts..tying and untying multiple tops (on each plant)....really..it's a daily grind

The plant on the left is a "squat" expression Hell Hound IX1 that is in a 5 gal smart pot..heavily butchered yesterday (and for many weeks before that)...but getting ready to be put into flower

The Thrill Kill males come out tonight to go into exile...so there is now space for her. She will be bred to the Thrill Kill males. I know I said I don't use the squat expressions for breeding...and I'm not in the position where I have to use this one (I have another HH female waiting on a flower space as well)...but looking at the lankiness of the Thrill Kills...I'm inclined to change up and use a squat expression female. Just a feeling...as if I keep getting dealt certain expressions..maybe it's a sign. who knows? For days I've been pondering the dusting of this squat. Took quite a liking to her..in her lengthy veg. She plus her above mentioned sister...are the last Hell Hound IX1's in the run...done done done...all Thrill Kill from here out

* The plant on the right is a Thrill Kill run plant. Out of her litter..she is the one currently holding most of my attention. She's vegging..like all her sisters save for the one flowering..in a 1.7 square. Attractive expression...that will get bred.

** not kidding on the pruning...under a couple 400 MH these mature plants..kick out the growth (could make 30 clones a day probably). I can't raise my lights any higher...so I cut the plants back over and over...trying different pruning techniques..experimenting in pre pruning for vertical flowering bulbs and how I can make them more able to be wedged together....they are way tied up...brutally abused during pruning...

*** I've gotten into cloning flowering plants....not sure why...but I keep taking cuttings off my favorites...transforming them into revegging clones. I showed you dudes those revegging "pig" expressions...and the other day..I took cuts of the "freak"

Male Migration

Male Migration

How many male plants have followed this migration route now? I wouldn't want to ponder away on that for too long. More than a few have passed through..to find..their breeding spots...even if they are far and away removed from..their mates

^ these Thrill Kill run males have found their way to the promised land...to collect the natural winter spectrums..to fill themselves with the energy needed to..produce their pollens

the magic glass door has provided space to many a poor boy...gather themselves up and survive in their lines

* This Thrill Kill run is shaping up real nice. There is lots of stretchy expression....I'm predicting some real fruity flowers

i guess im just old fashioned, and of course have the space, but i like to let the plants have nice sexy time together...but thats easier when you can set up a separate space for it...
im being a wuss today and letting the wind keep me home catching up on chores,im sure i will still get a quick hour in,but nothing too serious...i really need to find a riding partner for the tedious training stuff...some weeks im good about getting out for the easy spinning miles which really give you the ability to range out,i try and mix my routes up,but theres really only so many "good" training routes,it gets a little boring at times....but needful if i want to keep going farther on the "expedition" rides....theres about a million all day type rides to do here, thats what really gets me going....but those rides also tend to totally blow me out for a couple days....thats what training rides are for i guess,so i can do it day after day....

I took a cue from something Madjag said the other day...got a vibe that I should stay off the trails for now.

I'm giving this ankle more time. Been massaging in DMSO and Mag oil frequently. Walking well..able to bounce on it...but it's still tight and I've not gotten back all flexibility and strength in it. Still bruised. Still burns.

It's my fault...as I was working and doing chores on it...when I should have been resting it. So now...I'm resting it. Whether I feel cooped up or not..is up to me...but I'm spending my down time constructively. I'm eating like a pig...figuring it's a good time to collect calories day in day out...without burning them off so fast.

I was on the yoga mat way before the sun came up. Threw some oak logs on the fire..got it ticking hot..and stretched this motherfucker out. Painful morning

its ironic to me that im a much better athlete now than when i was young and strong and didnt have a lifetime of accumulated injuries to deal with...the other day was probably one of the largest amounts of climbing i have ever done in a single day on a bike, but it did take me 2 days to eat enough to replace what i had burned,i know my legs felt fine the next day but there was zero energy in them, after a full days rest i finally started to feel ready to ride...
tomorrow im getting out for sure, got a nice long trail ride planned,at least a 2 joint trip...

In the Circle

In the Circle

Quick look at some of the circle

^ Plants in various phases of flower...jamming out buds..beans...and rank stank

^ a 6' Queen Mox Clone...somewhere in her 40's..she should be done early 70's...partially pollinated...stench ridden flimsy vine

^ The "Freak" expression Hell Hound IX1...30's..partially pollinated. This plant is 6'+....still not sure what she wants to be..but for sure an aggressive plant

Love seeing the whole plant shots within their growing environment. :good:
Can see what a pita that was to move 'em last wk. good on ya!

Hope you got that ankle propped up watching the Bolts. Danny Woodhead for the win!?!

Yup...I'm propped up on my yoga mat with DMSO and Mag oil drenched on my ankle. Stretching and massaging...still smarts a bit..but healing up I think. Watching the Bolts can also be a very torturous event...can never just enjoy their games..always drama ball. We thank you for Danny...a solid addition

Yeah man...moving plants is a major pita. I have that Thrill Kill plant up next for pollination. She's way in the back by the filter...and at least 6' tall..trained a couple feet + wide...flimsy branches..and will have to be slid around the bare bulbs.

* My flower studio is about as simple as it gets. 1000 HPS and a 600 HPS bare bulbs hung vertical. 100 Can filter exhausted through 8" fan/ducting. Floor fan under bulbs aimed straight up. No heat used in winter during lights on....but use a portable oil heater during lights out when needed. Exhaust is run on a timer in the winter...wide open 24/7 during summer. Passive intake...and no A/C. Run my rooms loose...and the way they are built...they breathe pretty well on their own. I'm the light timer for the most part.

Out Again...

Out Again...

...ran for 1:02 with the wife this morning. After the last couple days of rest..DMSO and Mag oil...yoga mat stretching and writing the alphabet with my foot (a rehab trick to keep rotating the ankle ligaments)

..decided that the best stretching for it..would be done by running terrain. I tied a strip of medical tape up above the ankle...where it originally swelled..so..upping reassurance (like an added ligament) that the ligament between the tib/fib would not be as stressed. Restrict flexing.

Certainly not 100% healed...but around 80%..it wasn't that painful..just restricted. Ran up a couple rocky sections..staying in the wash...in order to work my ankle over unpredictable rocks..stretching and flexing it around..as needed. On the downhills I did no such thing..instead focused on not flexing it out...downhills being more a hazard to ankles..at 80% I'm not going to be forceful.

* Think I'll continue to use strips of medical tape above the ankle joint...where the tib/fib connect from now on. I like the added compression there.

** This ankle injury I've concluded was caused by the fresh foam on new shoes (1st time I ran in this pair) not being compressed..not broken in..molded to my feet yet. Foam probably flexed and rolled over with a loose rock..which continued the roll until it pushed the ankle over far enough to sprain.

My form was good...otherwise I'd have..more than likely...ate shit. Still an error in my judgement..as I shouldn't have been bashing around in shoes..not yet broken in. Cost me. Even though I run in hybrid minimalist shoes...the hybrid part is that added foam cushion...and it does need to have time to mold to the foot imo. When it's fresh..it has way more play..which is cool in one regard..but also has its downside..especially when one is coming off well broken in shoes (of the same exact model)..and is used to that feel

On to other things:

^ 2 Thrill Kill run sisters (my pick of the litter on the left) transplanted into 5 gal smart pots. They'll veg for a while..then are next up..to go flowering. Two different expressions. At least one..and maybe both..will be partially pollinated.

^ This is a nugget..hastefully trimmed..off the "Pig" expression Hell Hound IX1. This early sample is at 48 days...flushing since day 42. The plant looks like she'll want to finish around 60 days...but we'll see. Pig of a yielder...stanky..sticky...the whole 9 yards

Mind of the Raven

Mind of the Raven

latest debauchery into another interest. I'm captivated by Ravens..more so..than before. We intersect each other on a daily bases.

^ that's an early sample (day 58) of another Hell Hound IX1 expression. She is turning over fast..been flushing more than a week..partially pollinated...looks to be done around 65 days...abundant but not big flowers..which remind me of arrowheads with a horn sort of aspect to them. Horn flowers. She stinks really well...rotten citrus funk

* It may interest you to know..that I vaporize as I go along..so...like now..as I'm coming up on some harvests (of multiple lines and expressions)...you'll see that I'm vaporizing different stuff..at different ages..each day. I really do prefer fresh harvest.

This time of year...I'm able to dry nuggets in a little brown bag..overtop my fireplace. It's quite dry there...essentially taking a day and a half to make the nugs dry enough for the vape bowl.

This morning I'm vaporizing bowls from the still moist "pig" Hell Hound IX1 expression..from yesterday's post. Flavorful and potent...good good stuff..look forward to her finish

ah the family corvidae(sp?) cool birds, super smart, they make terrible enemies but interesting wilderness companions....one summer the local murder discovered the foil wrapped butter patties, the entire batch of youngsters that year were so habituated to people we couldnt keep them out of the kitchen...as soon as the tourist boat showed up so did the crows...they were so tame you could get them to hop right onto your hand...they would just sit and wait for those butter patties though, shiny gold foil plus fatty butter inside...irresistible to them...

Horizon

Horizon

...what the day brings. Before sunup..stoking the fire..adding fresh logs to warm up my dogs and the rest of the house...to this effect..sipping some coffee..vaporizing a bit of herb..stretching out in a not serious way

Going to close up my garden for the morning..then go run with the wife for a while. Come home...throw on the work clothes..head out

drop down a hillside..on a little handmade skid trail..to an old california live oak..that has seen no life in at least a decade..mostly broken down to the ground..petrified dry..only the bole with a couple large branches still stands...

a honey hole of firewood...so I keep my skid trail hidden..even though the uphill work would deter most anyway. Built my trail on a previous gathering trip..and was out there for a bit yesterday...harvesting some primo limb wood..in which I sawed into firebox pieces..probably just a 1/4 cord for the quick saw work..but the uphill loading is where the time/labor goes. Not much needs to be split...a big advantage to cured limb wood..and the BTU's please..ripping heat

Doyoufolkscare???probablynotandthatisok

^ Closer up: this is the pig expression of Hell Hound IX1...flushing day 50...kicking ass and making her way. What a nice blossom she is..good shine. Revegging her clones presently..as I said..would like to run her again..see what she'll do. My little pig and me..we get along fine..some deep rooted OGness in this one

^ Closer up: a typical Mox Mox IX1 flushing on day 67...nothing wrong with these..nice mix of the parent Original Flo and Chem DD (Chem DD X Original Flo x Chem DD) ...think I've done well for myself..with the Mox Mox line development. Feel good about what I've done with the Flo genetics..finally seeing the fruit. I started the Mox Mox journey back in '08...working it here and there..to get to the now. Probably not mess with Mox for a while (besides the Queen Mox Clone)..as I see Hell Mox being the next devolution proper. I know though..all I have to do is..germ up Mox beans..and I can always be happy with expression

^ Closer up: the Queen Mox Clone...day 47...getting dosed with P...I just really like growing this expression. Sexy plant...some plants shine and some never will. This one shined from veg...way back during that period of disaster I went through...in the garden..way back when..as the pablos. Lost all those sprouts then...nothing would go.

* This is her 2nd clone run...keeps getting better...partially pollinated this round for Hell Mox.

** Setting up her 3rd clone run presently. She'll be partially pollinated with the Thrill Kill pollens that round

*** I gave a bro a clone of her...but in all honesty...I don't think everyone will enjoy her the way I do. She takes some work..her flowers are on the light side..stretches like a weed..prone to some intersex...but...she is way funky and produces some deep vapor

**** As long as I keep her...she will be bred to everything

As you know, we're both self-sufficiant when it comes to our heating needs, so it's always interesting to me.
I think the popularity of this thread isn't so much the weed you grow, as much as the lifestyle you live.
Been colder than usual here, as is the case w/ most of the country right now. As I'm home more now, the fire rarely goes out, @ least when it's cold like this. (21 right now, w/ wind/chill, 10) When it's in the 30's & 40's I have enough passive solar gain to let it die out, but right now I'm burning thru my wood supply. And now's the time to start getting ready for next yr. Break out the files! :tiphat:

Cool man. Next time I hit my honey hole jack pot (in this location there are multiple trees within 50 yards)...I'll take my camera. Sure wouldn't show anyone around here though...as I've heard of some wood poaching in past years. I like to cut california live oak...it's better than the black oak..growing higher up. I don't like to cut where most people go..tend to slip into the steeper drainages/out of the way sites...where I find my primo.

My neighbors around here know I'm a "cherry picker"...that is I only cut exactly what I want. Sometimes I take the wife with me (she likes to go..wow) and we'll set our agenda..cutting only that..drive around seeking...until we find it. After every Santa Ana wind event..there is new opportunity.

^ That's my vapor of the day....cured Flo dominant Mox Mox IX1. This is that plant that didn't yield for shit (in a 5 gal she put out maybe an oz)...but just like my Flo mom..she pumped out resin. The high off this stuff...is potent..very chill..no speed..flavorful in a funk berry (something else as well..don't know how to say)...really

a designer head stash. Can't say this expression was exciting to cultivate..but it's top notch vapor. I keep this stuff hidden from myself.

* I believe southern california might be the only place..in the country...having killer weather. Sunny and 65 today...nights are down around 30. Very mild winter so far...not getting the rain we need..but still have time. I'm loving it..getting shit done
