Started framing up the walls

Finished the framing last night and all the insulation is done. Got The 200a panel mounted in. The wiring will come after the holidays. Walls will be insulated and covered in the next few days..

I'm in a 24x32 but still trying to weed out some shit that don't belong. Lawnmower and such.

You said you were up in the mountains, above 2800'. How high exactly? And, if you're WAY up. How do you plan on keeping it warm in the winter? I only ask because I'm in the middle of doing this exact same thing. Only I'm at 10,000' in the mountains of Colorado, and I'm new to the state. I've only grown in a warmer climate at sea level, so heating issues are going to be a new problem for me.

I'm at about 6k. I am insulating it. It was only about 500 from lowes with a 10 percent off add i found in the junk mail. Not to mention their will be 12 lights in each flower room and probably 5 or 6 in the veg so staying warm is going to be far from a problem. Plus both flowering rooms are going to be sealed environments :)


Before i decided to go with a sealed and insulated room i was just going to have inline fans connected to the flip system so the heat from lighted room would exhaust into the dark room to help keep the temperatures up.
 
Looks good. If you are worried about people finding you, i'd take out the elevation you're at.

Not too many places like that that grow a certain type of trees you are showing in these pictures.

Not that you may care, but some do, lol.

Fuckin' eh, keep it comin' otherwise. Stoked to see what you do with this.

I wish you might have gone with a concrete slab though.... check out "The Prodigal Son" in my link, see what kinda mobility the concrete floors allow me!

What are you planning on doing to keep moisture down? Maybe up there in the hills in your climate it is dryer than down here in the lowlands... I have to believe you have good AC or good dehumidifiers planned. I think initially you are going to be sucking alot of moisture from the ground until it sorta stabilizes with the new structure on top of it (?? no expert here, i'm dumb actually) but then it will taper off as you hit equillibrium. I know you have plastic down already but do your research and don't go too quickly. If you have already done it man, more on ya.... I tend to make shit up as I go along, hopefully staying just ahead of my building progress....

My situation is very different and I can't describe my locale, but I'm pretty well sheltered already from the elements and I'm going to extremes to insulate and soundproof. However I still worry about moisture coming up from the ground so I installed Firestone rubber as a moisture barrier. This is very very thick and durable stuff. However 24x30 ish square foot would be very very expensive to cover with it. I'm using left over rubber from my koi pond so it was already paid for (notice I didn't say "free"... hehehe what is free?)

cool building and love seeing a build come together neighbor...im also in your area albiet a little lower in elevation pursueing a very similar project...

i went down to O-ville and inquired about permits...holy shit what a headache. just to install a regular garage shop required a whole bunch of things i had to figure out. there have been many many rumors and even news stories about code department cracking down on illegal buildings and illegal terracing/greenhouses so good luck! up at 6k im sure you will be a little safer..

anyways i went a different route and got a commercial metal building and im gonna build out the rooms inside, very similar to your route except doing a mix of 2x6, 2x4, and uni-strut for the walls. no need to deal with silly permits or worrying about someone dropping a dime for code violations. now for my outdoor grow and the newly planned terraces, lets hope they dont see those!

Yeah, the way things are starting to be handled in my neck of the woods, people be getting in WAY more trouble with unpermitted anything and Federal environmental concerns...

its a smart and sneaky way for them to piss off growers and collect revenue for the county. no search warrants or police needed just a simple aerial photograph or a quick google maps check and they can come collect $$$$ and harass what they view as a nuisance. pretty stupid since growers bring way more revenue to the county than permit fees, all the local money we spend on shit brings in a ton of tax revenue.

im going to need to disguise my terraces by planting a ton of grass seed, and hopefully the large plants themselves will block view of the 1-2 foot drop on each level.

Yeah, the dirt scars on top of hillsides are a dead giveaway, the only places I will even look at are places that have been operated for 5+ years and have a more normal "lived-in" look, garden [food] vegetable beds, grass/weeds have become groundcover, NO RV living, but an actual structure or two, etc...

Hey Props...Unfortunately, the county playbook doesnt differentiate between a garage, shop, commercial bldg or even a horse barn (unless you happen to be lucky enuff to reside in an area zoned Agriculture and you meet the requirements). They simply go by square footage. And most if not all counties in Ca play by the same county adopted rule- 100 to 120 sq ft is the max before a permit is required. The only argument allowed is whether the over the max allowed sq footage is "portable" (lacking a permanent foundation) which leads down another county road of dumb-ass thinking...

On a side note, if you tell the county you want to erect a "commercial" building on property zoned residential, they will most likely over-react and want to know what it is you are planning to "commercially do" in your commercial bldg esp if your property is zoned residential.

When I resided in Butte, my property was zoned T-1. Timber as is most above 2500ft in elev. They hadnt changed the guidelines for T-1 since the 30's. I could run a timber business, even build a hydro-electric power plant on my prop (actually stated in the zoning description!) no problemo, but I couldnt grow a christmas tree farm (fear of propagating the forest) or build any structure over 100 sq ft, without the permit process. I still shake my head over Butte County...lol CC

Sorry for the lack of updates.. With the lack of rain and cooler temperatures makes for great street racing haha :). Not to mention the thermostat on my quad heating mat decided to stop working and i got home to damn near 200 steamed clones :( So that was quite a setback lol fuck it shit happens :D

Got the lights hung and the outlets for the wall fans up. Thought i still had the metal flex cable for the NM but I gotta send someone down today to grab a couple rolls of it and some covers for the boxes. In the next day or so the lights will be wired in and the coco beds will be up. I've got teens of Master kush, Cataract kush, and some Lake County Purple that will be moved from the grow tent an plugged into the beds :)


Quick pic after the lights were thrown up. Everything will be straightened up once the electrician comes back to wire the lights up to the ballasts :)

Yes i have both a nice A/C system planned and have several dehumidifiers if the need arises for them but you are correct with my climate being dry and this year is damn near record droughts throughout this area :) Good idea on the rubber if i ever come into an issue that is probably the route i would go expect at Tractor Supply they sell thick ass rubber mats that i believe are used for horse stables and things like that.
