Potency is only going to be tested in edibles...not flowers. If memory serves me correctly there will be a 100 nanogram limit in edibles for Rec buyers...no such limits for Med Patients.

Seeds and flowers will be available to 21 and up...everything else is for only Med Patients.

1/4 ounce flower limit per purchase for out of state rec buyers, 1 ounce flower limit per purchase for residents.

TC

I think that purchase limits apply to extracts, as well, and that tourists can possess up to one ounce just like everybody else.

Tourists doing oil from vape pens should be interesting, to say the least. On the ski lift. Sneaking a hit in the bar. Fishing. Jeeping. Horseback riding. Back at camp big game hunting.

There may be some mishaps as people learn about their new toys. Changes occurring on the ski lift may not lead to the experience one anticipates at the top. Extract potency can be overwhelming for the uninitiated.

So, if I purchased in Co as a tourist, would i be expected to consume everything before I leave Co?
Or can I take home a goodie bag? In the eyes of Co. that is. I know other states opinions.

Probably a stupid question, but im very curious about this. As somebody who lives where cannabis laws are still in the dark ages.

Yep. The idea is to squash the black-market. If out-of-staters still had to 'find a guy' to buy quasi-legal recreational weed ... a black-market would continue to thrive.

T

Yep. The authorities quit trying to eradicate pot smoking in return for a cut off the top of the proceeds. It's not the deal they wanted, but rather the deal the citizens gave them. Taxes & regulations are the price of legalization.

Some of them prefer the old way, I'm sure, but it's dead & gone. The more this unfolds, the more I'm convinced of the brilliance of A64. As part of the state constitution, the various provisions mesh together to create an inescapable framework for legalization. Unless the Feds step in, legal OTC cannabis is very likely here to stay in Colorado.

I think that the Obama Admin has taken a passive promotion position in leaving WA & CO to do their thing. I'm sure that they're very well aware that doing so invites collapse of the whole edifice of cannabis prohibition. It's a challenge to legalization activists- bring more states onboard, make it irreversible nationwide by 2017. That's the earliest a change in Admin could even begin to change federal policy for the worse. Congress sure as Hell won't do anything, cuz they're watching over the Obama Admin's shoulder, well away from the action. If it turns into a bandwagon, they'll say they were leading all along.

survey about setting prices....

well, here is the response to it:

"Dear Mr. / Ms. NAME:
As a business owner of a Retail Marijuana Cultivation Facility, it is important to know that your business must collect and remit an excise tax on the first sale or transfer of unprocessed retail marijuana at a rate of 15% of the Average Market Rate beginning January 1, 2014.[1] Please note that this is not the one time transfer of product from your Medical Marijuana Business to Retail Marijuana Establishment, but any subsequent sale or transfer of product from your Retail Marijuana Cultivation Facility to any Retail Marijuana Store, other Retail Cultivation Facility, or Retail Marijuana Products Manufacturer.
The Average Market Rate is a dollar value per pound of unprocessed retail marijuana. The Average Market Rate was calculated based on responses by industry representatives of Medical Marijuana Businesses to the survey questions sent to them in October, November, and December 2013. The surveys included questions about both arms-length transactions and integrated sales in order to respond sensitively to the statutory requirement to base the Average Market Rate on the price of all unprocessed marijuana that is sold or transferred in the state.
It is important to note that with this being a new industry; the Department of Revenue will review and evaluate the current Average Market Rate every six months.
The Average Market Rate for unprocessed retail marijuana for the period of January 1, 2014 through June 30, 2014 is:
Retail Flower Rate
$1,876/ pound
Retail Trim
$296/ pound
Retail Immature Plant
$9/ plant
For future reference, the Average Market Rate will be:
Included in the Retail Marijuana Excise Tax Return and can be used to calculate tax due when filing.
Updated on the Department’s Web site; www.TaxColorado.com Click on the “Other Taxes” tab, and then click on “Marijuana Taxes.”

Colorado authorities are powerless to stop you from smoking it or taking it with you, provided it's 1 oz or less. Colorado jurisdiction ends at the State border. You're on your own elsewhere. The smart answer, I think, is to leave what happens in Colorado in Colorado.

That's for figuring out the taxes that growers pay, right? Vertically integrated operations have pay the grower to retailer tax, too.

not sure exactly whatyou are asking, jhhhnn.... this directly concerns dispensaries that have vertically integrated into rec shops also; however, i believe it will eventually apply also to tansfers between regular med only dispensary to dispensary transactions.

this letter does not concern private caregivers, its about OPC sales of product and trim as well as sales tax levels.

Eureka Springs Organics

You can scratch Botanico off of the list. They aren't going rec right now. I don't blame them. They are however an awesome place. The staff, and owner are some of the best people out there.

More places should copy what they are doing.

It's all over the news here in Colorado right now with the 1st coming up.

They banned all cannabis from DIA (Denver Airport). Last time I was there they had everyone going through single file with 4 drug sniffing dogs checking everyone.

Smoke it up pappy!

lol there will always be a market for GRADE A TOP SHELF BUDS no matter wat happens. because 9 out of 10 dispensaries.. are selling the shit they can screw the growers out of there product at a cheap ass price.. then resell it at top dollar.. so most don't even CARRY the BEST SHIT BEING GROWN IN COLORADO.. but man ill say.. its not about LOCATION. its all about the GROWER.

this week I got to try .. during xmas.. Colorado Indoor OG KUSH.. CALI Indoor OG Kush x NL#5 .. and Maine Indoor ECSD.. and man.. they were all amazing. its just about if the grower gives a dam about quality.. or QUANITY.

So i got a question. I guess i should start by saying im not a CO grower.
(Bare with me) I live in Pa, where Fireworks happen to be illegal. In Ohio, which is a neighboring state, Fireworks are legal. But if i drive to Ohio to try and buy Fireworks, i have to show Valid Ohio ID. No out-of state sales.
But your telling me id be allowed to come to Co and buy weed with an Out of state ID?

Im not gonna, but am curious about that.

Lol ya sounds right. But I use to like in pa and mi, and until mi started to sell fireworks I'd always go to ohio and never had a problem with an outa state id actually I'd sign papers saying I wouldn't blow them up in ohio lol... Crazy things we do to have our bits of joy :woohoo:

Thank goodness that Denver and Pueblo (along the I-25 corridor) have their ACT together to open on Jan 1st. Colorado Springs is still tipping a toe in the tepid waters....losing out on a historic monumental day, dickering about how much tax to charge. GEEZE! Cannot speak for communities in the San Juan's or Western slope, high Rockies.

Pueblo has 5 shops opening (in the county). I'm proud of that community for doing things in a timely manner. KUDOS! Those of us N. of Pueblo will surely find some little nuggets o' plenty!:dance013:

Friends and I made breakfast burritos (of course w/ green chile!) today to sell to those in line waiting the LONG wait for doors to open near Stem Beach, along w/ hot drinks. Also selling t-shirt!

Should be spectacular start to 2014.

HAPPY NEW YEAR ONE AND ALL!!!!!

Kewl. I didn't realize that you're in the Pueblo area. I grew up there, visit family there regularly. It's considerably more open & diverse than Colorado Springs, for sure. Ethnic diversity at the steel mill & nearby farm communities really shaped Pueblo's working class cosmopolitan flair.

Stem Beach... Coming down in the all night diner, 3 AM, 1970 or so. I remember. Well, kinda.

Don't get me started about politics in the Springs, OK?

man pueblo is depressing! all those mills etc

Though I don't live in Pueblo (N. of there), you are speaking of earlier times, my friend. Steel mill is now part of a multinational conglomerate Evraz making siding, barbed wire, railing, rebar and the like....not like the pollution of products a few decades ago.

Pueblo has made great strides in creating a diverse, cultural city.

Having once lived in Denver, if you consider Pueblo depressing, I consider Denver manic.....traffic, crime, hurried pace. Vibrant, too.

To each their own. Colo Springs overflows with politics NOT considered progressive and their crime rate is slowly trickling down this way.

Wherever you live, peace be in your living.

Happy New Year Ya'll:

In honor of the 'First Day', I'm going to make a batch of cookies from the Budder I finished yesterday.

Wonder how long they'll 'keep' in the freezer? Maybe a few vacuum packed for 2024? lol
Or maybe for 2015 New Year's Day is a more attainable target.
