Whats the best type of soil is best for cannabis

I'm using peat based soil for my soil mix. Usually it's 1 part Ewc and two parts sunshine mix. I wasn't adding any lime or anything at first. And my plants would yellow early. Guy at the grow store said it was because the peat becomes acidic after a while. If I add lime or oyster shell flour to my mix will that stop the early yellowing, and would I have to add it monthly if I veg for longer than normal. Is their a better option than peat

Hey beancollector. The options are endless with soil. And your in the right place to learn from the best. My soil is regular pre-fertilized garden soil, (only thing available) Perlite, Vermiculite and mycorrhizae powder. 1-1-1 ratio. This link should help you out bro. Good luck.

The best type of soil is one you make yourself with home made compost and carefully chosen amendments imo

Any type of bagged soil mix can't even come close to that in my experience.

If someone was just starting out and wanted an easy mostly water only soil mix I would recommend something like this,
1 parts peat
1 parts highest quality EWC you can get
1 parts drainage(rice hulls, lava rocks, diatomite rock, perlite as last resort)

to each CUFT of that add-
1/2cup neem meal
1/2cup kelp meal
1/2 alfalfa meal
1/2 cup crab meal
(you could sub out other stuff like fish bone meal)
4 cups mineral mix which consists of
1 part Garden lime(pure calcium carbonate) or oyster shells
3 parts rock dust

If you want to make you own soil it is much easier than you think. We have every soil amendment you would need along with pre-made fertilizer kits for the novice.

If you have any questions let me know, and I can help you build a soil.

Surf guitar , does that mix require cooking? If so how long do you cook it for? Thanks for the help I really appreciate it

I would let it cook for at least 2 weeks, pre wet the peat, mix that with the ewc and drainage, mix in amendments and throw in a bin or pale or something to sit for as long as you can let it.
