pros and cons to a state card..

hi guys,

wondering, as I usually run 60-80 plants. 20 plants flower, rest are veg

I wonder if having a state card helps me, in that I am showing "I'm responsible" to get there optional card? I wonder if it looks better to the cops if they ever came

also is it true, you need a court order to pull my info from the system? do they have open access to it, or is it closed, and my info is safe from random checks to watch up on people?


I was more considering the card for flying / airports. I was reading you can have hold sup of them trying to verify if your recommendation is legit, vs. pulling out your card, and walking through.. also though i plan on traveling outside CA, so it might not help when they look at my ticket and see I'm going outside the state.. I was thinking to just throw it in my luggage under the plane, so if they open it, the card is there with the meds, and no problem...

I also travel with pot in my car, so I thought if I ever get pulled over, the card is a very easy walk away, vs. trying to get a hold of my doctor ( what if it's the weekend and they can't reach him... )



let me know what you guys think. I was always one who said the recommendation is enough, but now I'm starting to think there might be nothing bad about it, if you don't mind the fees.

The card can be extremely useful if you 'think' you might get pulled over and you carry. It SHOULD keep you outta jail, 'should.'

A collective owner was pulled over with 50 plus clones and after some time passed, was released back to his own vehicle without further incident..in Elsinore, CA. It is a quick pass from calling the doc to verify your 'rec.' For this alone, it is helpful.

As far as airports and travel...from CA, Az does recognize your rec and it is "optional" elsewhere. I doubt that TSA will allow any type of 'federally' banned substance on a plane...that is sort of asking for big time trouble.

What's the moral? Don't bring marijuana on planes. And if you try, whoever told you to stuff it in a jar of peanut butter is wrong, that just makes it easy to spot on the x-ray monitor.

The card will not help you if you are 'smuggling' contraband. It isn't a free pass to mail weed, either.

OP, the way you are thinking, I am 'thinking' you will NEED that card. Remember, even with that CARD..YOU CANNOT TAKE POT ON STATE OR FEDERAL PROPERTY. It seems you need to learn a bit more about the law and realize that your 'medical' use freedom is, exactly that; Freedom to grow and use your own meds. Not to possess, use and transport ANYWHERE you PLEASE! Stay out of jail!

One of my old landlords got busted with 4 houses and over 1000 plants total, he now has a state issued card and told me its the only real thing that can stop them from taking your herb. He got it per judges recommendation so he could continue to grow while his case was still ongoing.

are these state cards the same cards issued when signing up for the MMIP( Medical Marijuana Identification program)

When getting my rec the doctor encouraged me to sign up with the department of state i believe in my county of residence. He called it the MMIP program but ive asked around to numerous resources and have got next to no information back on the subject. Curious to know if it is the same as a state issued id card as i assume it to be and if there is any truth to registering with it. Also would like to know about the OP question on personal info security

well, I'm not doing it for the fact when I asked the person, " so the records are sealed and police need a court order to get info..." . she said, the police can do whatever they want..

not a good comeback in my eyes. I would actually be safer not having one. which I was willing to give them my money if they kept the records sealed, but that means to me, they've handed over info to the police..

CA is a large state. I am sure you can find a Dr. who you trust and isn't giving files over to the feds.

Also CA med patients aren't on the fed radar right now, and the war is winding down, so med patients won't make it back onto the radar ever again.

I fly only with my rec. 1st off....that is all I legally need. The most important thing is like Hydro said, a good Dr. I told mine I need to run higher numbers than what my county allows...12 or 6, explained about popping seeds, selection, etc.. The Dr. gave me a separate certificate that indicates my needs exceed SB420 guidelines. Another major important thing...is making sure they will show up to court if needed.

I don't wanna be on a state list. I got a private card with verifyable 24/7 phone or net and if I wanted I could get a growers exemption for a few bucks more to have more weed. if your on a state list your too easy to round up harass. with some cities starting to try an ban growing being on a list aint a good thing.call me crazy but I don't trust those in power an aint gonna make it easy on em . they got to earn it to bust me. I would go private place card with 24,7 verification not state card.

The mmj rec is easily verified but, the police won't do it in the field. they will haul you in and wait there for verification, have your vehicle impounded, etc. The "Card" has already been verified by the cops and is the 'free' pass.

As said, 'the cops can do as they please.' So please, just be very careful. jpt

I forget what county it was in cali that was making people pay them $15 for a fucking red flag to put on their plants to stay legal. The county kept track of how many red flags they made you buy and gave that info to the feds. Made it real easy to find the guys who bought a bunch of flags.
