Wanted to show the difference in bud structure (so far) between DSD#1 and DSD#3. I am not getting very strong smells off either of them and even after a while in the jar DSD#4 is not very pungent either. If these turn out similar they will probably get dropped from the stable unless the smoke is just too good.

That's all for now. Bubba Kush S1's go into paper towels tonight. Trying to decide how many to pop. Seems fairly stable so not sure how much variety I could really find. Still thinking like 15 though.

Thanks D. Hope they smoke as nice as they look. Somewhat dissappointed with the terp profile so far.

So after losing 2 rounds of clones to my cloner running dry I'm building a new one. Basically just a new container with latching lid. Same manifold. Also adding a float valve and running a line off my tap to keep it topped off at the right level.

While I was shopping for a new container I got the idea to re-do the shelving in the veg shower for easier access. Got some 20" wire shelving and plastic trays and will be ditching the wood shelf. Smoke a joint of Midas before hitting the store and next thing you know I'm spending $150 instead of $15 on a rubbermaid. Anyway, at this point the room is all about iterative improvement... making it cleaner and easier to work in is always the goal for me. I'll have pics of the new arrangement up in the next day or two.

In the meantime, rolled up a blunt tonight. Blunts are not my usual style but a nice change up every now and then. Last night's was for the season finale of Sons of Anarchy. I'm now a Backwoods convert, no more Swishers for me.

Only got about 2/3 of that bud in there. Probably about 3 grams :smokey:

Don't care for blunts myself. I would smoke a Backwoods as is. Perfect evening smoke for the backcountry - after a joint that is :D

Not much of a blunt smoker myself, but when I do it's always in backwood or a black and mild . Also too lazy to go back and look, are those DSD's from ganja rebel? If they are give them a chance, I found two killer pheno's in my pack, neither impressed me much in the smell dept. until the last couple weeks. Now both reek like top notch smoke (blood orange and grapefruit dank). Here's the blood orange smelling keeper.

Yea I'd usually go for a king size joint over a blunt. I will say, as a non-tobacco user, just the nicotine in the wrap seems to kick my buzz into overdrive for at least a few minutes. Halfway through I always get this feeling like "oh shit, I overdid it" then a few minutes later I pick it back up and I'm fine.

Anyway... D - this is Deep Strawberry Diesel from Fractal. Deep Chunk x Straw. Diesel. The Deep Chunk traits are definitely pretty dominant and the most I get from a leaf rub is a strong hashy smell. As always, the final test will be in the smoke. However, I think this is going to end up competing against the BK S1's for a long term space in my room since I have a feeling the highs from both are going to fall into the same category for me.

My goal for long term moms is a nice range of hybrids. A landrace sativa would be nice but uncontrollable. I think a nice mix would be (indica/sativa): 100/0, 80/20, 50/50, 30/70, 10/90. If I was keeping 5 moms. And when I say 30/70 or whatever I don't mean strictly genetically, but also overall effect - body/head.

Okay tangent finished... Did a little work last night. New cloner built, flower round #4 shaped and pruned, and started on shelving. The screws I had for the shelves were a 1/4" too short and the store was already closed :drum:

The cloner is much improved. Latching lid plus weatherstripping = leak proof. Still need to install the float. Also added 5 sites.... maybe I'll do a vsog someday.

Pruning before/after. The Midas are monsters. Still have a lot to remove but don't want to stunt them. No fan removal yet, this is just removing interior and secondary growth.

Day 50 flower round #3

Day 50 flower round #3

DSD #1. Lots of pipe cleaners in there holding it into that shape.

DSD #3 Top

Deathstar Bud

I'm seeing some tip burn and deeper greens. Going to lower down to 1EC and then probably taper off in the last week.

Updated veg area. Still some work to do... I decided I want to do new PVC manifolds instead of the current flexzilla one. Manifolds will be zip tied to the shelves like I did with the current one. I want to find lower-profile drip trays that fit better. The storage containers work but are kind of cumbersome.

The tote on the right is the veg res. Externally plumbed the pump but not 100% sure I like it that way. Another shelf will go above it either just on the right half or maybe across the whole shower.

Not much else to it. Minor improvement but more space to work in it feels like.

Also filled up the cloner

DSD #1 buds

Peek in the chamber

Going out of town for a week for the holidays. Day 60 for these (friday) will be the day before I leave. Deciding whether they all get the chop on 60 and into the drying tent whole for a week, or go to 67+ and chop when I return. I originally planned on just waiting, but the trichs on these DSD's are about 90% cloudy at this point.

In other news I re-plumbed my RO res so I now have a tap with on/off for filling buckets as well as a hose with on/off to fill reservoirs across the room. Added a float valve to the cloner off the RO line as well so no more dead clones while I'm away. I also ordered some 41" long, 12" wide trays that should fit on that shelving nicely. Also ordered some more 1/4" top hat grommets so I can do some more PVC manifolds.

New 2ft veg light in for seedlings. 4 BKS1's sprouted and went into coco, 5th also went in though the shell had only cracked. Pics when they break soil.

So I'm sitting here with some downtime trying to figure out whats next on my list... and guess what.... for the first time in over a year I have no planned upgrades or items to buy or things to build for my grow. It is a strange feeling. I'm not saying that everything is done, I'm sure I'll have a half dozen ideas by the new year, but for all intents and purposes my current room has finally reached the state where I always envisioned it. All I really need to do now is fill rez's, raise/lower veg lights and take clones.

Need to find a new way to fill my evenings... one that doesn't involve ending the night covered in saw dust and PVC glue.

Didn't take long for me to find a new project. Spent last night making some "Lion Balm" (https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=276338). Very similar to cooking with cannabis. Basic double boil to infuse the oil (olive oil in this case) then melting with beesewax and adding essential oils. Took some pics of the process. From the thread:

USES: Everything from dry skin and lips, to hemorrhoids, psoriasis has no chance with the balm, as do minor burns and fresh scars. Any muscle tension or pain you have, gone. Ovaries swelling and painful menstruation, gone in 20 mins. Arthritic pain, gone in 5mins after a rub. Arthrosis, sprained ankles, bronchitis apply to rib cage, getting a cold? apply to nose and glands under throat.

~40 grams older trim. 250ml olive oil, 500ml RO water.

On the stove

Used a ricer to get all the oil out. Over a strainer to pick up and particles. Next time I might do an additional filtering with cheesecloth.

Here is the trim I am left with. Still a lot of trichs even after 3 hours cooking in the oil with occasional agitation.

Need to separate the water. Let it harden up in the freezer then pull out the chunk of oil.

** missing a pic of re-melting with beeswax, but you get the idea. added drops of oil, mixed up and poured into containers

F3 Harvest

F3 Harvest

Took down 1 DSD#1 last night @ 58 days. Will take one DSD#3 tonight probably. Then I will leave one of each to take down at ~70.

Sample nug I took a few days ago. Very earthy taste. Despite what I said about lack of smell on these after a quick, 4 day dried sample joint I have some really high hopes for this.

Harvest shots. One whole plant.

No awards for yield on the #1, but damn this stuff looks great. Lime green stems and dark green, purplish buds covered in trichs.

Using a ricer to press out the oil is genius . Probably going to piss my girlfriend off, but i'll be using that tip in the future  Thanks for sharing that Mr. A. DSD does look mighty purrty

they sell the netting in the outdoor lawn and garden department in lowes/home depot. it should be over by the weed blocker fabric.

That's perfect amount of light to use in that space. I will recommend you hang the outside two lights a bit closer to the walls (bulbs centered 1.5ft way from the walls instead of 2ft, while the middle light is perfectly centered.) This will help even out your light spread as you'd have overlapping light to brighten the middle while the offset outside lights help with wall losses.
