Nutrient minimalist here, recommend me additives

Hey guys i have been using a minimal feeding schedule for the last couple years, nothing but House&Garden Aqua Flakes at 9ml/gallon.

I run flood tables with coco, and flood 5 times per day, and my plants always look good. However i have some extra cash to play with and just started a new indoor cycle with multiple trays running the same strain (see my sig).

So i think it's time for a side-by-side experiment. Problem is i dont know where to start. House&Garden has so many additives, and there is a ton of other shit on the market too. I looked at Aptus but their stuff can't be used in recirculating systems like mine.

I would like to just use a couple additives in small amounts to supplement my Aqua Flakes A&B, i'm not looking for a whole lineup. Anyone got any ideas?

thanks! :huggg:

Youre kind of vague on what type of supplement you want. A good quality fulvic and/or hummic acid supplement benefits most any hydropoponic application. Good fulvics are very soluble and clean/flush out easily. I like ful-power. H&G roots excelurator is good but I'm sure its an innoculant and very expensive as such. With innoculants I find trichoderma, particularly the patented hybrid t-22 strain of trichoderma harzianum x rifai is the most beneficial in my experience and it works well, providing not just disease control but growth stimulation. T22 and other growth stimulant trichoderma species are found in several products. Liquid karma and the floralicious lines are good all purpose fool proof supplements.

when it comes to additives i dont really use much...i like a good solid base nute ...but when i do look for additives i always think, ...healthy roots=healthy fruits...something to keep in mind...

I am being vague because i am not really sure what i want. like i said i already get excellent results but figured i would do a few side-by-side comparisons and see if anything stood out

I have avoided using roots excelurator because i heard it will build slime in a flood/drain reservoir after a week or two of recirculating. is this not true? the stuff is too expensive for me to find out the hard way.

thank you, i agree. Is there anything in particular that you might suggest using to promote root growth in addition to base nutrient?

Thanks for the suggestion. I have used Bud XL before in conjunction with the Aqua Flakes base, but i never noticed a difference when i stopped adding it.

I was already considering a few of House&Garden's additives since i am already running their base. I have used Multi Zen and Bud XL and they work well with flood tables. Was hoping somebody would chime in with some magic shit that i havent heard of. Maybe aptus made a new recirc formula? i can dreammmm

peace

I've used most of the H&G additives. The only ones I will continue to use are the roots excelurator and drip clean. I use a silica additive and cal/mag.
Just started playing around w/ sea green too.

I'm also a minimalist and would suggest you look outside of the H&G product line at some silica supplements, seaweed, and fulvic acid. I am currently using some GH Floraliscious Plus and it added some build up inside my rez, nothing too bad but if you're recirculating it could gunk things up a bit. My last cycle I ran Jack's Hydro 3/2 with a some soluble seaweed powder through most of the grow and got very impressive results, K.I.S.S.

Add silica to a res and you will never mix without it.
1ml per gal should be all you need of a good silica product.
If I were recirculating I might try sm90.
Ive used it with blumats and thought it was great stuff.
When I use a PK product its for 1 day. I dont really need them to get all that pk for a week

Go with h2o2. If your plant is getting all the nutes it needs. Then the only thing it can use is more light or oxygen to the roots.

Triacontanol from MBFerts.com increases yield. Do a search on triacontanol & read about it.
I also like Forilicious+ and silica.
"Floralicious® Plus is a vegan bio plant stimulator & nutrient additive. It is everything that is Floralicious except it has been formulated to be utilized in both the vegetative and regenerative, or the flowering, stages of growth. Floralicious Plus stimulates microbial activity in the plant’s root zone. This metabolic fuel solution is packed with powerful vitamins, complex plant sugars, protein building amino acids, seaweed extracts, carbon building blocks & aromatic oils all in a fulvic acid base."
