Wow, great shots. love the first picture. Thats a very interesting looking bee, long hair, very different to the types we have in Australia. Which country are you in?

Beautiful shots guys. I used to live in Australia (im in uk now) and the bees are very different to uk bees. Uk bees seem a lil small to aussie bees, but the uk bumble bee is
quite larger. Ive never seen a hornet in the UK, but seen some killer sized hornets in Aus,
about the size or an average middle finger of bigger. Can someone post some hornet pics,
i just love the colours of hornets, there so beautiful, but the bloody things kill bees...jus for fun. I also love bees, especially in UK around summer when there all hyper and over protective, then when summer ends, the poor guys are completely weak and exausted, and eventually die....but thats nature.

real nice photos, ive gotta get me a new cam, ill be taking pics all day.

^geez youse ossies talk alot  ... no its not a lot.. its a little with a lot packed in... thats what it is

but you're right them uk bumble bees look like the whitevan of the apis world in comparison to others. completely against the laws of physics but it works. I think it was that bee they were talking about when they say that the only reason a bumble bee is actually able to fly is because no one told it that it couldn't fly.

amazing pic strain searcher, ezra. incredible this world around us isn't it. just gotta take time to stop and smell the flowers.

nice:joint:

Very nice pictures guys, wish I had a camera good enough for pictures like those. Not a bee macro, just thought I would post what my simple Canon A610 camera takes. Nothing in comparison to your D50.

Some kind of spider, don't have a clue what.

Red Velvet Ant, these things hurt.

I guess technically the Red Velvet Ant would count as a bee of sorts, since its in the Wasp family.

Great 2007 thread revived...well I'm not very good at the macro thing but I do try hard and did catch this honey bee by surprise one day. Actually I was laying on the ground, hand held, Sigma 17-70 macro lense, shooting as fast, frames per second, as the Canon would go and this is what I call a lucky shot. Yup i'll take em how I can get um...DD
