Cannalytics - Cannabis Fingerprint THC Test Kits

C

cheesey

not sure were to post this thread . if in the wrong place please move ..

has anyone used a Cannalytics - Cannabis Fingerprint THC Test Kit?

or has any info on them ..

this is what it says on the website

Product Description

The Cannalytics - Cannabis Fingerprint kit (previously called Cannalyse) is a unique mini-laboratory for home use. The fingerprint kit also contains a unique standardized & high performance developing protocol for thin layer chromatography, specific for cannabinoids and a total-extraction specific for Cannabis.

The cannabinoids will be separated and identified on special impregnated TLC-plates.

Only a minimal amount of sample (100 mg) is needed for total cannabinoid extraction.

Unlike most people think, the effects of cannabis products are not only caused by THC. The specific characteristics and effect of a certain kind of cannabis is caused by the combination of several cannabinoids

The Cannalytics Kit is a cannabinoid detection (phytochemistry) mini-laboratory. Its easy to use and no scientific background is required for proper analysis. Cannalytics brings you into a new knowledge of the connection between the cannabinoid composition of the pharmaceutical strain and the overall effect of any type of cannabis sample. The kit is based on Thin-Layer Chromatography (TLC) technique.

This technique selectively isolates and visualizes only the cannabinoids out of hundreds of other compounds. The Cannalytics test kit is already validated at the University of Leiden (department of pharmacognosie). Research is still going on with focus on speed and the safety aspects.

The kit enables the user for the first time in history to do his own research on the qualitative and quantitative aspects of cannabis. The Cannalytics kit determines the cannabis chemo-fingerprint and the amount of the main (neuro-) pharmacologic & psychoactive principles. Find the different cannabinoids THC, THCV and CBN (%-age THC) in your sample, routinely, fast and in full color!

The kit enables the user for the first time in history to do his own research on the qualitative and quantitative aspects of cannabis.

Thin layer chromato-graphy (TLC) is a chromatographic technique that is used in many (phyto) pharmaceutical and analytical research laboratories, for the separation and identification by colouring (chroma =Greek for color) of organic compounds in a mixture of hundreds of compounds.

I checked out their product some time ago, and it's pretty lame. Ex., IIRC the kit uses a spayer for the visualizing reagent (fast blue bb salt, IIRC); that is the worst method for applying the reagent unless one uses special sprayers. The dip method is far better, but that too has flaws if dipping 'by hand', but it's easier and better to use the dip method by hand than the spray method, if using a cheap spray bottle like comes with that kit.

The kit I have been testing, and I posted in that thread VG linked to, is better IMO; and less expensive too.

I find these claims about that kit to be funny:

The kit enables the user for the first time in history to do his own research on the qualitative and quantitative aspects of cannabis.

Firstly, their kit does not enable a user to employ TLC for cannabis "for the first time in history"; there have been TLC kits for cannabis available for years, like the kit I have been testing/using. Also, it's simple to buy all the needed chems and tools and TLC silica plates to make a DIY kit that is far better than those cheap kits (incl. the one I use); especially if one buy a TLC plate auto-dipper. Secondly, that kit is not quantitative, it's only qualitative; for quantification we need to use (at least) spot density measurements with a program like JustTLC and cannabinoid standards. If we do not use standards, even if using JustTLC, we are using comparative assays; half way between qualification and quantification (you can see if sample X has more THC than sample Y; but not how much THC is in sample X or Y).

Also, do only men use TLC for cannabis, re "his"? ;)

looks cool.. but expensive for something that i heard was hard to trust.. id like to see a lab test .. of the same sample.. vs this thing.. and then maybe id buy a kit. some1 buy one n show us it works?

cmon folks, if it sounds to good to be true, ... if it were that simple, everyone and their grandma, would be offering tlc screenig kits etc... especially, when one puts into consideration that most labs doing gc/ms in the states, produce unsatisfying results? nice for scaming folks out of $, but not really helpful/accurate when it comes to identification and quantification of said metabolites...

Hi Purple_man ;

I'm not affiliated in anyways with any test kit vendor or whatever business you might think of, am a plain anonymous, but i can attest the cannalytics test kits are real and looks like it works well , even very well, with features as claimed. I just seen several test results, and different profiles for different strains tested this very same day , and it looked very real , and quite precise

THAT COULD BE GOOD, CONSIDER YOU COULD BE SAVING A LOT OF MONEY, ..... BEING ABLE TO TEST 20+ STRAINS THAT EASILY WOULD SAVE YOU FROM HAVING TO SEND IN ALL THOSE KITS TO A LAB.

Sorry guys, but I checked this thing out a while ago too, its gay. Seriously I just watched the video again. That kit is like something you would do in 6th grade. The results could become so skewed from the amount of steps involved and the very small amounts of cannabis, and chemicals used. It would be nice for a novelty or a real rough estimate to show your friends that my pink dot is bigger than yours, lol. Give it a few more years and there will be something that tests potency right on the spot, without all the hoopla. Best to leave it to the labs with the real expensive toys for now.

Dunno which one might be better. If the test doesn't require too much junior atomic science & yields repeatable results, it's probably pretty good for some people's purposes. Over time, it gives a quantifiable baseline for product performance, a way to double check subjective judgement. That matters when you need to make money, not when you're just growing your own. Well, not enough for me to spend money on it.

Hi BasementGrower,

Yes, indeed but you can make a quick comparison before purchasing the products. There are many websites that sales these products at a cheaper rate and even provides discount coupons too. Thanks.
