Linguistic question: dank

Sorry if I chose the wrong forum but your "American Language Forum" seems to fit best....

I couldn't find a proper translation for the term "dank" everyone uses here (like "dank smell", "dank bud" etc.). The dictionaries tell me that it means "wet" or "humide" but I suppose that isn't what's meant with regard to cannabis.

Thanks in advance for a translation!

BTW I'm obviously not a native Anglophone

It's just a slang term for really nice looking/smelling weed.

Like when someone says "that's cool" they don't necessarily mean it's cold.

Now I feel really stupid... Cause I made a list of interesting strains and under the column "smell" I wrote dank and chunky :D .
Sometimes, it's hard to find appropriate descriptions: Skunk smells skunky and Haze grows hazy LoL; only the Strawberry and the Blueberry don't smell like the corresponding berries at all and the Californian Orange has an aroma with hints of lemon...

my qualms include
'loud'
'dro'
'fire'
'flame'

.... these are all so twisted...
Please dont call it anything but FM#1, unless you got that shit on lock..

strawberry blue smells exactly like strawberries while it's growing.
Dank is what subcool strains like apollo 13 and third dimension smell like. Some folks say "what happened?"
