Could you tell us more about this? My understanding of these terms is different:

I have always thought that "kif" was an Arabic term used in Morocco for buds, which they do always smoke with tobacco mixed in.

I think "hashish" is also an Arabic word that means (duh) concentrated trichomes, either dry sifted or rubbed, which, in Morocco is also smoked with tobacco.

"Kief" is an English word that refers to dry sifted trichome concentrate.

Maybe you could take the time to educate me?

as I understand it 'shisha' is the traditional cannabis/tobacco blend, that I've known for about 30 years.

Gathering kief is rather new to me (15 years now) and as described below is the only way I've ever interpreted it, I have never heard of kief being a tobacco blend, yech.


Kief (sometimes transliterated as keef or kif) refers to the resin glands (or trichomes) of cannabis which may accumulate in containers or be sifted from loose dry cannabis flower with a mesh screen or sieve. Kief contains a much higher concentration of psychoactive cannabinoids, such as THC, than that of the cannabis flowers from which it is derived. Traditionally, kief has been pressed into cakes of hashish for convenience in storage, but can be vaporized or smoked in either form.

According to the Oxford dictionary, the word "kif" derives from Arabic: تكيف kayf, meaning well-being or pleasure.
