Does anyone store cannabis for longer than a few days or weeks? I've been using vaccum bags and then putting those inside of an all black glass from vitality glassware in sebastapol ca.

Do you have a preferred method of doing so?:blowbubbles:

I'm currently smoking weed that's over a year old. It's been stored in our basement, relatively stable conditions, in the dark, trimmed as it's needed. I have trimmed and vacuum-packed and that is very nice, no worries about mold or drying out too much, better to keep the quality, IMO. When you pack it, make absolutely certain it's at its best RH. Don't compact the bag down onto it all the way unless you have airy buds you wish to compress a bit. Store carefully afterward.

No glass in my world--too bulky, expensive, and breakable.

You can get jars a WalMart that hold a QP. I use those, and wide mouth Mason Jars. I have so many god damn jars floating around it is ridiculous.:)

The best thing to keep it in, storage wise, is a dark humid environment. The ideal RH is between 60% to 65% without causing mold. I found this article to be helpful on the relevance of humidity and pot storage: http://cannador.com/herb-storage-and-humidity/ but ultimately time is of no significance. It could be years old, as long as there is enough moisture to keep the trichomes from evaporating water.

I keep mine in mason jars in the freezer. Bud stored at room temperature gets noticeably weaker after a year, even in stored in vacuum sealed bags. I've kept little samples of buds in the freezer for over 10 years without much loss of potency.

After 4 or 5 years at room temperature, almost all the THC in the bud has broken down into CBN and other less active cannabinoids. After enough time it just gives you a fuzzy body feeling without a high.

I keep my green and hash in a light and air tight container in the fridge. I have had some in the fridge for about 3 years with no noticeable loss of potency.

I just smoked some 3 year old bud that has been at room temp in mason jars. It is darker colored now but smokes about the same as when fresh. in 10 years I think it would be quite a bit less potent though. Still good to smoke but less so.

I would put it in the fridge but do not have the room. Careful about freezing. If it thaws out and you refreeze it that is bad. If your freezer is gonna stay frozen for sure, then that is the best for long term. Let the buds thaw out in the container and then open it, not the other way around. Will dry it out if you do.
