Will the day come when there are no more seedbanks

I have been wondering lately what would happen if the governments closed down the seedbanks, either closing down the seedbanks themselves or the internet sites like they did for meth.
I have had some really good seeds in the past that I have made from crossing strains that I bought over the net, but I have none at the moment.
I have decided to stock up on seeds so if that day comes then I will at least have some good genetics available to breed heaps of my own seeds.
I'm thinking True Blueberry or Blue Satellite 2.2 would be good foundations to cross other plants with, with probably a Northern Lights as well.

There will always be someone selling beans - just like there will always be someone growing our herb...

Stocking up is good idea - as is making your own for future use...

I have more beans than I could ever grow - and I'm getting more - just because...

As laws change this is always a possibility IMO, but I don't think there is much that can be done to stop the spread of genetics from a governments standpoint, its still as illegal as can be in most places yet we're all still farming, making seeds and spreading the love.. w/ or w/o a seed retail outlet

It's like the wild wild west IMO.. if theres money in it ppl will always figure out a way to get it out to the masses.. legal or not. Making your own crosses and seed supply as u stated is a great way to ensure constant safe access for yourself and possibly the ppl around you while at the same time preserving genetics.. just think if it came down to it you could revert to like the old underground trading days with your own supply of seeds and obtain something new in return... kinda how it started before we had such easy access as we do now with things like the net and mail order.

Blue sat. 2.2 is a great breeding candidate btw.. its been worked on a lot by S.O.L seeds, I believe it has some blueberry in its genetic pool.. not sure which one to be exact.. I have a bunch of crosses it was used in including some og release packs stored away for a rainy day..

Haven't purchased beans since '06 or '07. Between making my own, trades and gifts, no need to. Got enough genetics to keep me busy for the forseable future.

They could all shut down tomorrow and I wouldn't notice...

As it stands right now for me, it would be a disaster not to have seedbanks. That would mean relying once again on bag seeds. lol

But soon as I get my own garden going and flourishing, I should have no problem with seeds unless I need a new strain coming fro another country.

I have been making and trading my seeds, just sometimes spend money on something I would like to grow for crossing with my selfmade beans, and have nice plants for free. Also have give away to my friends many seeds for expanding good weed around and making no profit of it, just a way of thinking and sharing knowledge and good smoke's.
Also I think ever there's will be people who would work in the preservation of land races and hibrids, for comercial,medical, cientific or just good hipism and social threads...

That would require organization and support on a global level that has never existed before. The US government and many other world governments have cooperated in the past to close down child porn sites and credit card theft forums and yet a quick google search will bring up many sites that still offer that services. They may knock one or two sellers offline but due to the structure of the internet they are impossible to close. With that said the US government may make it harder to purchase from a seed bank but banning them is pretty much impossible.

All the above ignore one major point that cannabis legalization is gaining speed and is unlikely to give up ground in the upcoming years. Though I would still advise you to produce some of your own seeds for no other reason then guarantee a steady supply of seeds for strains you love.

I expect to see the complete opposite happening...
As the U.S. decriminalizes marijuana on a federal level you will see more and more U. S. based seedbanks.
1st on a local level then once Postal/mailing laws change.
Evolving to a world wide level.

I for one have plans in place to open my own seedbank with in 4 years.
There are already grey areas in the laws that will become a nice loop hole
In the coming years that I plan to exploit ...
At least till laws are in place
So less seedbanks. .

Many, many, many more seedbanks in fact as the world looks to be going green with in 10 years.. Many more. ..lol
