What's new

Going away for xmas new year... dilema...

Ok so im gona be going away for a couple of weeks. I currenty run two rooms, veg and flower, 110w fluro in veg, 250w hps in flower, hand watered coco.

So my plan was to finish my harvest in the flowering room and close that side down while im away. i have got a holiday watering kit for the veg chamber so that will stay running with my mother plants and clones.

Problem is i have 4 plants in the flowering room, 2 are a new strain and i underestimated how long they would take to finish...

so only 2 plants will be done the day before i head off, where as the other two need 2-3 weeks more.....

So what should i do?!

Here are some options:

1. Just chop early and take the hit..

2. switch hps light off, and leave the 2 plants in there with no water for the two weeks, hopefully they will be a bit more mature before they die ( duno if this is likely to cause bud rot tho?)

3. Try and and squeeze the two plants in with my veg cab, and water with nutes on auto water kit like my vegging plants, however not sure what to do with light cycle here? as its currently on 18/6 in the veg cab, what could i set it too without causeing a reveg or causing flowering in my mother plants? 16/8? 15/9?

If i did this i would prob return home to finished plants but without a flush... and it would be a squeeze.....

Any suggestions would be great thanks!

if you have the cake you could get yourself some Blumats or you could set up some kind of wick setup with your 2 unfinished girls placed above a bin full of nutes and with wicks placed inside the pots and then dangling down into that bin full of nutes.

...i realize my explanation isn't worth much so below i've shared a link to a thread that will explain in great detail how to set this up so you can go away and enjoy your holiday with confidence.

yer true it would be a long dry so would prob be a little over dry, but i plan on chopping at the bottom of the plant and leave all the leafs on to extend the drying time as much as possible. checking out the thread thanks justanotherbozo

...you're welcome man and, just in case you are unfamiliar, here is a link to a discussion on the use of Blumat's. ...these are great and all but the wick system you could put together for free using some old white t-shirts as wicks and have it up and running in a half hour, the Blumat's you're gonna have to hunt down, pay for and then get them set up and dialed in, ...not that it's hard or anything, just that it needs some adjustment in the beginning to get the flow rates right.

Blumat's

blumats. or a large res with a timer watering kit.. if money isn't a problem.. there are kits u can buy off the net to monitor your res ph and all your nutes and shit to were u can be watching to make sure everything is going good.. lol.. u could fully automate your room to do your entire feeding process for u .. but if money is tight.. blumats blumats blumats..

that's 1 thing I need to do is get blumats.. but . .with me wanting to go back to SOG.. I don't want to buy 1000 blumats. so im going to make tables for a flood and drain type of feed If I go bak to sog.

My micro setup is very similar. Two tents (3' x 1.5'), veg tent has (2) 55w PLL bulbs, flower tent has a 250/400w digi. I go out of town a lot and always use an automated dripper system.

What you need is:
1 reservoir big enough to water the ladies while you're gone
1 water pump to keep the res mixed up
1 water pump to irrigate the plants
1 7-day digital timer to set a custom watering schedule
X feet of 1/2" tubing
X feet of 1/4" tubing
X stakes
X drippers

If you're hand watering coco now, you might switch to drippers full-time once you get this setup. It's makes things really easy and the growth is crazy.

I also use a low EC Lucas formula to keep them watered and decently fed while I am away. It also helps if you can have a friend dump some fresh water in the res during long trips. I have done this a couple times now with finishing plants to effectively fade them before chopping. I even taught my sister-in-law how to test pH/PPM after a few times, so I know exactly what's going on. :)

Would blumats be any good at the end of flush? idk but I don't think so some how.

Although when I grew a while back I preferred to hand water my plants, drippers seem to be the best way to go if you need to be away from your plants for a long time. But you're in the flush stage so you want a big enough rez fulla flush water. Would be easier if the plants were in veg/early flower but flush is a different animal so idk.

Take slips of everything and keep them in the fridge, in case everything goes wrong. Better safe than sorry. Peace GS

Heres a pic of the cab with the drippers in. Ive filled a res up with 20 litres of feed so hopefully arrive home to some nice near harvest buds :)
