Iso extraction and azeotropes

A vacuum purge will remove the vast majority of the isopropanol. If you're worried about trace amounts left in the oil, an ethanol wash followed by a second vacuum purge will remove the vast majority of the trace amount that was left.

I don't believe trace amounts of isopropanol are harmful. If you want to be extra safe, multiple ethanol washes should reduce the iso content to undetectable levels.

Isn't isopropanol aka rubbing alcohol, Denatured ethanol?

Peace

Denatured ethanol is just ethanol with something like methanol added to make it poisonous. It can be sold without liquor taxes since it isn't drinkable.

Isopropanol isn't drinkable either, but it's much less toxic than methanol. Most "rubbing alcohol" I've seen is isopropanol based. 99% iso is cheap and easily available, making it a popular choice for alcohol based extractions. Everclear 190 (ethanol) works too, but it's more expensive with the added tax. An isopropanol extraction with an ethanol wash is still cheaper than doing a straight ethanol extraction when you're dealing with large amounts.
