last night 24 tonight supposed to be 23f maybe snow Saturday. but decent day temps 40s to 50 max.perfect for hiking and not needing cooler for cold beer. lol got to love the foothills and sequoia.cant wait for snow down low . I am looking for first open lot and doing dougnuts in the ride , lol only one pig and I aint ever seen him after 5. theres more drunk folks here at night then sober driving. with the narrow roads I was expecting lots of accidents. I guess we all just drive real slow .

I was in sandiego previously and will be again after my adventure. spent a lot of time in northeast so its nothing to me . I kept some winter clothes.in the foothills here we gen just get small amounts couple inches occasionally. heard we might get 6 inches.blah that's a dusting far as I am concerned. bring it I am stocked up anyhow.yeehaw. the more snow in this area the better river kayaking in the spring an fishin. I hope to see the mountains covered in snow this winter as last few years been weak leading to low water levels in spring and on.

There is a heat wave going on here in Denver. They are predicting it might get above freezing by Wed. next week. The other night it was -17 F. and the truck was not appreciating when I started it. I also fried the garage door opener I think. Oh well it was getting too old anyway.

Extreme cold has catastrophic effects on equipment. Even solid steel becomes brittle, loggers up here don't work once it hits -35 because of the chances of equipment failure, sometimes causing fatalities..

Things like your garage door opener are some of the mechanical devices that we take for granted, door goes up n' down then it's good to go. If it began to squeak it might do so gradually over time never alarming you w/any sudden difference in its sound, the motor might have needed some oil or alignment maintenance that wasn't evident by normal use (1/2 the time you use it you're inside your car, can't even hear it), the extreme cold just finished it off.

It's in the single digits up to about 15 degrees here in the westside in the PNW right now. I haven't felt cold like this since I lived on the east coast. But those negative temps are just insane!

thankfully those temps come & go through the deep winter here, this early Dec cold snap is unusual, last night the low got down to -25F before windchill.

maybe it was '93 and for a solid month I sat @ my office desk occasionally looking across the street @ the bank clock/thermometer, it never once went above 0 degrees, eventually several businesses lost water in the city due to freezing water mains under the sidewalks.

we have remedies for that though, plumbers come out with heavy duty welding equipment and run major voltage along/through the frozen pipes, doesn't take long to heat those cast iron pipes up enough to get water flowing again.......

EDIT:
just walked the dogs & tried (TRIED) to start my car, @ -29F it's a no go, this afternoon I'll break out my battery charger.

a no nonsense Schumacher. I like to warm up the battery w/a 10 amp charge for 20 minutes, then 30 amps for 10-15 minutes and then I turn it up to 200 amps for a minute or two and it'll start like it was a sunny 75 degree day.

the plus side is the speed & efficiency which both of my dogs use in doing their business in an effort to come back inside quickly.

EDIT X2:
I'm about to catch some zzzzz's, I've got a full size (my entire mattress) heating pad and a nice wool blanket, in less than 10 minutes I'll be a Stoner4Life Hot Pocket.

Yep, it was a cold one last night. I woke up at 5am to -31F and it's almost noon now and it's only risen to -17F. Rolling out the door this morning wasn't the most pleasurable experience but I made it.

To those that live in this extreme cold always remember to dress for the cold, not the car.

bought a new battery mine was from 2004 and kicked the bucket in the cold here. cant have a bad battery in remote areas when I come back from hiking or fishing. I try an park on hills or slope so I could rolling start my manual trans car if needed. its one of the benefits of standards over automatics

19f this evening. Looking at some considerable snow tomorrow. Thankfully it was a good outdoor harvest this past season, it'll make it all tolerable.

I assume you've got it started? It looks like a whole lot more cold in the forecast.

oh yeah, turned right over w/o the charger @ -5F.

Looks dicey for the next 2 nights but we're gonna get a heat wave w/temps around 20/30F after that.......

6c night to15 c day it's a winter I'm freezing !!!

In the Summer is 20 in night 32+ in day

Shalom homie!

we're at 0 degress celcius, 1 and 1/2 feet of snow in Jerusalem, about 13000 houses without electricity. I'm lucky I still have electricity.

only more snow, rain and hail for the rest of the day it seems...

this city was certainly not built to withstand so much snow
