Fuck this gene stealing talk. Absolutely fuck it. God bless Dinafem for putting together a stable of the best known names that are reliable. All this talk of stealing genetics and here I thought we were just borrowing what nature had provided. Maybe if Top Dawg, who I've barely heard of by the way, has done so much work on this line, they can go patent the genes and take these guys to court for patent infringement. Oh wait, I forgot, that's the type of shit we're fighting against.

OGK you're getting way too involved in breeder drama. Chem was a bunch of genes floating around before ChemDawg found it, and it'll be a bunch of genes floating around when Top Dawg is out of business and we're all dead. I understand wanting a breeder to get money for their work, but this attitude needs to go. Once someone sells those seeds the buyer is free to do as they please. It's been that way since agriculture began, and it isn't until modern industrial farming that ownership of plant genes even became an idea. No one is foaming at the mouth like this at Burpees because they're selling tomatoes that another catalog sold first. Keep it in perspective.

Well said man.

If theft of genetics is defined by one person's use of something someone else had before him then everyone except the person who sourced the original heirloom plants is a thief.

The ultimate Irony of the whole argument is, like you say, that the strain itself bears the name of someone who found the seed in someone else's weed... :D

The story they came up with to go along with the seeds is misleading to the buyer and doesn't give credit where its due, aside from being total BS.. That is more my qualm, more so than them selling the beans. If you are going to claim the Guava cut why not at least share how it actually came to be rather than hype it up by saying "FROM THE MAN IM'SELF CHEMDAWG LADIES AND GENTS"?? Guess I just felt the obligatory shoutout to Top Dawg since its not right there next to the beans..

But how did it "come to be" and where is "credit due"

Credit for what?

Mr.Sterling is hitting the nail on the head every time and saving me a lot of words in the process. It's some loose code of morality, and it's loose because when you actually search for the root, there isn't one there. Not one that hangs to anything fast anyway.

What came to be, as you put it, is that some fella found some seeds in some weed and grew it... Then someone else married it with something else that someone else found somewhere else and grew more seeds from the offspring and found some nice pheno...and then someone else did the same thing...

I'm still struggling at this point to see the artistic endeavor or creative flair that was callously disregarded in the dinafem strain description

Will do. I don't even think it's a full two weeks in and it's already jammin', from the looks of it, it's gonna be a producer. It also roots nice, less than two weeks in less than ideal conditions.

Now that were done we're done with the pissing match, back to the point.Who has some pics of flowering dinachem?

https://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=269540.... I'm running her as well next to csg Gdoggypurp and a verified chem-d.....you can see its chem for sure mine reeks and looks to be a producer as well its the biggest plant in my room

dinafem produces some of the better feminized genetics on the market.. so why is everyone so critical of them? lol there doing the same thing everyone else is doing!.. any new breeder .. that's making seeds.. and didn't go around the world collecting landraces and genetics to start making there own work.. is So Called STEALING someone elses work anyways.. then u got the people. who use others shit as there own.. and just call it something different... or the even BIGGER LOSERS.. that find a great plant in BAGSEEDS.. and make a huge over HYPED strain with it or just by selfing an already hermi mess..

I mean take a look at GSC.. until I heard the entire story. I thought great shit.. now.. after smoking some grown next to the original SFV OG KUSH cut.. and smoking them both ... great flowers.. but so over hyped its ridiculous..

Ive run a lot of strains and seeds companies, many of these seeds were given to me for free at shows and expos by the breeders. I go in with zero expectations, pop the seeds, basically any seeds in my experimental room. I have found of the feminized seed products, that Dinafem are the most consistent in quality. 95% of the time the plant is very nice, but not pure fire. Very few hermi plants found so far among dinafem strains. Ive popped 20+ dinafem and hso, strains and found hermi on only one of two strains. and only one or two plants out of those one or two strains. all in all, a very good success rate for feminized seeds. Ive had issues with every single feminized seed breeder out there, at least one pack from each breeder either hermi or pure MALE or both.

In general there is very little art to breeding and selection these days. fem'd seeds are bad, lots of m/f seeds are not much better.

I have also found greatness in bagseed. so much of the "breeding" that goes on is luck of the draw...

I'm running a second crop of dinachem now, and while the plant growth is steroid-like, the flower production has been very blah. They don't have any distinct odor, mediocre resin production, and just wicked wicked munchies when smoked. Definitely a BIG plant, mine are all over 6' tall with a 4 week veg, and now on about day 60, they still aren't showing any cloudy or amber trichomes. Very very hearty growth rate, with my trunks all the size around of a quarter, but I'd love to see better flower production out of this veg giant. Looks like corn stalks in the summer in their room, but minus the ear of corn size colas....I'm going to keep trying it though, maybe I'll find that mom grade pheno yet.

[/IMG]Here's some dinachem @ 8 weeks.

There's a guy over on the farm that has a cataloged grow of stardawg. This pheno I have of dinachem is a dead ringer of what op's stardawg looks like.

From all the research I've been doing on the boards. It looks like dinafem really did get some packs of stardawg or the guava cut. Who knows? I do know that this plant is killer and I was lucky to find it from a single seed popped!!

You could really say that about any strain. Skunk, Northern Lights, Haze, Kushes; Purple strains they were all brought over to Amsterdam years ago. But who takes credit? Californian and Hawaiian growers. But most of the originals are legends with no names. I remember my first time in Amsterdam 1990. And there was not much weed. Tons of good hash. I remember Skunk, northern lights and Haze. And some new weed that was just coming out back then White Widow..
