Not another ROLS diary

Hey there folks and welcome

Allow me to tell you a story about this little adventure of a fine young lad who was courageous enough to take a step towards the highs of Recycled Organic Living Soil even in times of his probation and even in a country where its fucking expensive and hard to dial shit up because its europe and its north.

Written in co-authorship with Ak-47 from Serious Seeds

PART I
The clone

I got this clone this summer from a Zambian rastaman who had it deep into 12/12. When I saw the plant I immidiately realized that it's a keeper because of how it stuck out of all the plants with the donkey genetals, jinglebells and a lemony aroma.
The rastaman told me it's some kind of 10-11 haze plant he got from another rastaman.
So I snapped one of the bottom buds and cloned it in a glass of water put a bits of aloe juice and coco h2o. Rastaman complained at first due to bud loss, and he was sceptical it would root that way at all. But now he is happy to have the clone back from me. His other hook up lost it anyways.
I named her Baba Haze and decided to run her in a ROLS bucket altering with some other unique indica dominant babe. But more on this few months later.
I'm restricted to only one plant+one/two small clones due to probation so I want the plant to be big.
So it has been 3 months since I robbed rastaman of a bud. 1 month of revegging and 2 months of vegging in a ROLS bucket. At this point Baba Haze has been topped 3 times, lollipopped and supercropped a little too to create a flatter canopy. It is already day 2 in bloom.

PART II
The equipment

According to my standards I label my equipment a shitquipment compared to what I would get if it wasn't for probation. The stuff that is available to me nowadays on the market is some killer shit compared to what I have.
All of my real up-to-date-equipment was taken away by cops on one funny day ill never forget :bis:
So now what I am left with is the first equipment I have ever bought years back plus some 5 years old wing reflector DIY-connected to an old cooltube and, of course, a new carbon filter.

It's not the finest shit, but it serves me well. I guess I had it all dialed up from day one, for I am sure I CAN grow top-notch medicine with the capital given.

Overall

PART III
The organics

Living in Finland ain't easy when it comes to commerce. Most things that you can find on the shelves of any Walmart you won't find throughout the whole country. And Im talking about absolutely normal things like Bone Meal or a Kelp meal or even just Dolomite Lime.
I really had to sweat to find stuff like Neem Cake and Bio Char online and I am not even a halfway through getting everything I need to set up my FINAL ROLS bed of my dreams. Getting Oyster Shell powder is still a bitch, but I have finaly found one supplier from amazon who sends to Finland.

My goal is to set up a huge 100 liter ROLS DIY soil with homemade vermicompost (ewc), mychorhizzae, soaked biochar, bokashi(and other EMs), worms, Diatomaceous Earth for silica, FPEs, ACT, Fungal Tea, seed extracts, Comfrey, Nettles, Horsetails and maybe even a living mulch carpet :dance013:

But since im not there yet, mostly for the lack of DIY compost and a few other things like decent DE or Lava Rock or Pumice etc. I have to go with what I have. And what I have isn't so bad at all.
But since my current bucket deserves a chapter of its own I will share the stuff outside of it in this chapter.
The organic toys outside of my bucket are actually a hobby of its own.I would do it even if it wasn't for cannabis. Because it's not just about the herb, but more for the sakes of harmony, nature and karma. I bet many here understand what I mean.

So here you can see 4 of my bokashi buckets, 2 wormbins and 1 worm factory.

That's about 64 liters of ready to use bokashi and 7000 worms

Looking nice... I have also recently switched a haze to bloom. Will need to start another rolls diary I think. Nice work getting her to root. Did you add the aloe toward the end of the root process? I recently took a few cuttings (m+f) and put them in aloe gel mixed with a dash of citric acid, I just wasn't sure if it would rot before root... Woop

PARI IV
The bed

Oh the bed...
It will take quite an effort to explain what I have in there and why.
The whole idea of an awkward setup and feeding "schedule" came up with my desire to grow ROLS way, but having superhard time finding even the simplest stuff like bone meal, alalfa or kelp meal around, I had to go with something different than what most people go with.
So I have been ordering an ingredient after another online to finaly start any bed and I was planning to accomplish that by the end of 2013, when I walked into my local hydro store and got introduced to these toys: biotabs.eu
In short: it's a great substitute for a ROLS bucket food with all organic NPK, mycorhizzae, EM, silicon, humic/fulvic acids etc if you dont have most things gurus recommend for a top notch bed dialed just yet. But I didnt stop at just biotabs.eu products. Those are but a little part of the madness that goes on in this 50 liter bucket :artist:

Because I dont have things like lava rock/pumice , enough vermicompost or ewc, and alot more for my own nice mix yet, my choice of soil fell for this. It has Lavarock, sphagnum peat and ewc in it. Just the perfect substitute untill the real deal is on the table.

After following the growtab instructions and overdosing on mycorhizzae a little (like x20 methinks) I put the little baba haze in it, added like 200-300 worms in there and mulched it with 2" or 5cm of coco coir.

Because I am such an adventurist, I later decided that it could use some nice amount of Neem cake Meal (It took me some effort to hunt that bastard down online) to topdress into the mulch. Not only Neem cake but some kelp meal followed in along with some alfalfa and bone meal mixed with P guano. Lots of EM for fun, why not? After that I dug some nice amount of comfrey pellets inside which are supposed to be heavy slow release of PK and some little N. Why not? Oh yeah! I Also gave it the Biotabs 2 times. Theoretically I should have burned the shit out of my Baba Haze haha!:dance013: :blowbubbles:
A bit later I also decided to mulch it up with some Bokashi compost and coco coir hehe. There are alots of banana peels and horsetail amongst other stuff in that bokashi compost. Designer shit, ya dig.

So there you have it: on the bottom lays a 3" or 7.5 cm layer of hydroton. On top of it we have around 50 liters of alpha mix by growth technology with silicon, humicfulciacids, mychorhizzae biotabs and with worms finding it really pleasant in it. On top goes a nice layer of mulch with bokashi and topdressed fertilizers. The wonderful living sandwich completes itself with a mat of all sorts of hafmless insects. The creatures find the place to be a paradise.

Sorry guys for not replying fof such a long time. Baba Haze be in day 28 by now and I haven't made a single reply or update. Trying to take it easy. More gardening less talking.

nice level canopy, plant looks good. i'm in!

Thanks for stopping by VG. It's an honor. Yeah the cannopy aint bad looking, but it got really messy at the end of 2nd week into 1212. That's why im stealing your mod scrog concept and aiming to adopt it for a ROLS bed really soon. Hope you can give some guidance throughout this journal. Cheers.

Nice work, she's a picture of health,, & a haze too!

Alright more heavy artillery! Welcome xmobotx! Very nice of you to join!

dam I luv large plants.... it's the only way to grow....and U sir, got one righteous lady showing off her bush....

Thanks, yortbogey! 1 big bush is best if youre aiming for quality. Hard to manage cannopy though. But somewhat safe from the legitimacy perspective in most countries methinks?

Yeah Budddy!!!! Looking good around here.

Grabbing a chair and tagging this one.

See ya around

Heya, Thanks for joining, MileHighGuy! See ya around indeed!

Heya canna woop! Post up you diary here anytime! Eagered to check it.
I put aloe juice from day 1of putting Baba Haze bud into water . little amount of aloe juice was used however. Like 1 ml for 150 ml of water.

Im not sure about gel. Hear ppl say it works like clonex but you can also burn the clone or something if used too much

So as you can see there is a slight N def starting. I am not too sure if it's too early for a 10-11 weeker haze.
