:rant:How the heck do you get in and out of bed?

These new mattress are so thick, 13 inches high. Plus the boxsprings about 8". Bed frame, etc. I need a ladder!

My toilet is about:moon: 17-1/2 inches and a little short. Does it make sense to make beds higher than a toilets height?

Is anyone else wondering this? Or am I the only one, this has been bugging me for years, anyway?

Just bought a new bed and mattress's recently. Daily, I ponder this and how many back injuries will result from repetitively getting UP into bed. jpt

idk, didn't you test it out in the store first? even buying online means I'd go to a store to see the bedding beforehand, and don't most mattress sales include a 30 or 60 day money back guarantee?

I didn't buy one, i just wanted a better quality mattress; It is hard to find an 8" mattress; I am not even mentioning how the sheet are like parachutes on it. When we had thinner mattress's, the sheets were snug and often tight fitting..now, to find 8" sheets.
They are all way too tall. I really don't care for this 8" one.

I want a better mattress and they are TOO Thick.

Surely, I couldn't possibly be the only person.
Why make a mattress so thick??
Can't they do in 8" what they are taking 14" to do??? I am curious too!

I no longer go visit and stay-over at a friends home because of new TOO Thick of mattress. This could ultimately be an health issue. :ying: jpt

Put mine in the basement and installed a bat pole to it . . . :tiphat:

I'm with yorty on this. Got a new memory foam mattress and frame, no box spring. Slide my legs to the edge and stand up. Vast improvement over our old futon and frame.

We have a motionless softsided waterbed, no issues here :comfort:

I have a memory foam mattress too, (one that moves like a hospital bed.)

My main complaint, other than stupidly getting it after my surgery, is the damn bar(s) at the foot of the bed, meant to keep the mattress from sliding off…
it makes making the bed a bit of a pain in the tush! It makes my favorite chore slightly less enjoyable.

…bourgeois complaints I realize, but it drives me crazy. :shucks:

My bed is an electric/vibrators and remote(a platform is required-like a box spring). Any foam, memory or otherwise will work on it. But, crawling UP into bed is not my ideal end to the day. Especially, when getting up half asleep during the night.

Most I know have new expensive 14" top mattress's. I'll ask if they really need the box springs? Since they were sold as a pair.

@Natty; the foam mattress is so light, I just pick it up to make the bed. The thing I don't like about the metal bars; I cannot sit on the foot of the bed, the bar hurts my butt!
My last electric bed, did not have the bars. The one before that, with regular mattress's did, it did not keep the mattress in the bed though.

New Product: People Ramps to stroll up to bed!

Old Product...
My dog, on the other hand, has stairs like this video...

[YOUTUBEIF]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8x6SwxPIP4k[/YOUTUBEIF]
My dog has the tallest ramp and it is a little short.
Unlike the video; she runs up her stairs with ALL her toys, about 6 of them are in my bed today. We think of dogs and their backs getting in and out of beds...I think of our backs too! Hope she never brings a mouse up, like she brought into the house.

Is it necessary to make the mattress so thick, for technology? Or is it a mistake they sell the box springs with them?

Most things are getting smaller everyday, it seems a mattress would get thinner. IMO

Wondering if they make practical people ramps for these beds?

:biggrin:Haha Blue, I was talking to the neighbor, a contractor, yesterday and asking if it was possible to lower the floor, where the bed is! A bat pole would be better! haha...Great sense of humor, as always!
:thank you: jpt

:biglaugh: Yes! I still forget and sit down for a millisecond, before jumping back up.
