I have a BrewersHardware sight glass and ordered the 1.5 from them and gaskets from Glacier, but the boro glass part's O.D. is larger than the tri-clamp flange. Put the 1.5 gaskets that look like they were cut with a pair of kids safety scissors in and the fit was not perfect but i pressure tested my MKIII to 105psi and put in a horse trough and saw nothing. Then pulled a vac under water and it sat for several hours. Not ideal but have done ten runs and will be putting the 2" gaskets in today or tomorrow because it is the right thing to do. Paramount may still have GW's blank but sounds like they could solve our problem for a nominal fee.

I believe that they used a standard die, because it only took them about 15 minutes to make them and it was under $20.

I handed them the silcone rubber gasket out of the sight glass and told them to cut me a dozen out of Viton, in a similar thickness, without the raised ring around the outside.

There is their link: http://www.paramountsupply.com/

Ill second the glacier tanks viton sight glass gaskets being handmade. Grabbed a couple the other day and thought they looked like they were cut with scissors. My buna gaskets with the rib filleted with an exacto are way smoother.

Nak,

I filled the mold after the oil was purged thin film and no longer bubbled @ approx 105-09F for 20 min, poured while hot inside the vac oven w/ door ajar. Vac down to 29Hg for a few mins release partial vac then held it at 20Hg for approx 15 min. pulled out into a cold approx 45F room for quick cooling to avoid any clouding.

tri clamp sight glasses, 4 way the open ends will be tri clamp ferrules...

I did a run through the old Terp and now I am winterizing for the first time. Hoping for a delightful night cap.

Happy Thanksgiving! Hope everyone is devouring some scrumptious fare.

I've got a reasonable price for making the collection spool and thinking 8 inches long might be useful to keep the oil off the pipe pieces and not be as large as the 12 inch.

I pulled some really nice blonde out of the mkiiia today using heat. So far heat and scrapping hasn't been that bad.

Hey GW do you have any images of what the cotton candy looks like after your scrapped it out of the collection pot?

You purge that in the collection pot, freeze it and then scrape it out? How is it compared to shatter and wax, etc?

It is in shatter form and while it doesn't necessarily taste of butane, but when you vacuum purge at 115F, it still gives up more.

Thanks everyone for all the info. Been following for a couple months now on and off.

Now on to what started as a simple problem and now seems like a crisis as I can't find any relating info to this problem anywhere.

I had my first G5 blow out about 70-90 columns into use over about 4 weeks, I immediately got a second to run while I figured out how to repair it but before I got around to it the second pump blew. About the same number of columns through it in about the same time frame. A third pump was purchased and I quickly got around to fixing the first. I had ran the new pump about 30 columns before switching back to the first pump that I had repaired. The repaired pump again blew out with only about 20 columns through it and now the third newer pump is making odd noises and we have discontinued its use for now.

Obviously this is ridiculous and something simple has to be being overlooked but we can't seem to be able to figure it out on our own.

Any ideas are appreciated

Do you have a pre-filter to keep oil out of your pump?

What kind of environment are you running them in? Is it dry and dusty where you run the machine? I had over a 100 columns easily before mine went. Im normally in the rainforest with a high RH and very little dust. A friend used my G5 while I was away,.. smelled like a gnarly Terpene slug when I pressure tested it. Two columns in... Fail. The environment was super dry and pretty dusty Keep it clean and dust free environments are a plus. Change your filters often, and tap fresh butane through it daily if you run it often helps clean up.. Good thing its easy to fix. .

Yes I always have a dryer filter between them mkiii and the g5. I have changed them about every 3 weeks. About how often should they be changed?

I use the pour out method so I don't even run to -22hg.

RH is usually between 35 and 50% with no excessive dust. Probably relatively clean actually though not like running in a clean room or something.

My thoughts might be not enough voltage off the outlet. I just had the electrical upgraded with new panels and outlets for everything last week. Maybe an issue if the machine was running with less than optimal voltage?

I also have been thinking we may not have our tank cold enough even with dry ice under it as we don't have the top end insulated currently. Been waiting for electrical to do upgrades. If there is water mixing with the dry ice in the bottom of our cooler will it drop the effectiveness of the di to cool to sub zero temps? If the butane was warmer then boiling point when entering the g5 would it cause it to react more violently causing it to get sucked up to the G5 more easily? We always open the valves very slowly to avoid splatter and our collection tank is 18" tall.

Nothing jumping out. The failures that I've seen were wear based on time, and failure from aspirating oil, plus a couple of fan failures and some shock damage to gauges.

For what it's worth, I do know of several people who recently experienced infant mortality Appion failures, so they may be having quality problems.

Has anyone received a price quote on the Haskel pump? Better yet has anyone tested one at all? I am out of the country right now so I can't call them.

Anyone have info or a link to obtain zeolite. There are so many types of zeolite on Amazon that I'm not sure what to order. How much zeolite by weight or by volume should I use in a Mk IIIa with 24" column?

eh HO,
We have food grade quality bentonite @ concentrates in PDX....not sure where you are..

If you are trying to beef up your recovery pump, and you have some money to blow have a look at some of these units...

They make the G5 look like a childrens sunday school snack with naptime. Specs read nice but I have yet to get my resin fingers near one in a couple years...Its like the race to space, who gets the biggest yeilds the fastest with the best analysis reports. Ive decided Im going to enact a team and organize a concentrate cup. PDX,... where the Concentrates Congregate. Featuring the Concentrates Congreagation with special guest, Pastor Earl Daabs. special guest appearance by 2 Live Crew. lol

I've a question. What is the 'right' amount of butane to run through a given amount
of material? Our first run's we ran about 3.2 lbs of butane past 300g of trim, 3 times.
Since then we've increased the amount of butane to 5lbs and the washes to 2.
Also, the amount of material has gone up to 500g. Our yields are about the same
around 10-15% strain specific.

Our first runs with with very high quality indoor trim w smalls and levels of
THC were 85%+

Since then, we've been running very nice outdoor trim with smalls and been
getting levels in the low 70's.

Both taste wonderful. My buddy thinks doing 3 washes is lowering the THC while
I believe it's because of the switch to outdoor.

My theory is that subsequent washes are freebies because everything is already frozen.

Who is correct? Any ideas? Thanks!

How do you measure how much butane you run through the terp unless your tank only has that much?
