200L container with 400W?

Hey,

Im thinking bout putting a 400W bulb vertically with a cooltube on a 200L container like
picture.php
in my bedroom, would it be too much? Should i go with 250W? Will it heat up or the metal will dissipate the heat faster?

Your 200 liter container will almost hold enough for a 1000w DWC grow. :)

Your pH swing will be too slow for an optimal grow if you fill it and use a 400w... I prefer around 45-57 liters for a 400w DWC.

If you're running 'drip' through a medium... you can cut down on those numbers a bit for each light.

p.s. I usually don't click on off-site links... would you mind uploading that to your gallery?

I think you got the wrong idea, the container is the grow closet not the pot :p

Lol.... I was dyin to see a 50gal micro gro rotflmao... IMO build a cab mang..... It'll be a lot less suspect then having a metal drum in ya bed room with cords and shit comin out.... And much easier to vent, cut up , take up less floor space and prob use a 600 get more bud....

The metal will retain and radiate heat. Rooms with hoods hold more heat than those without for that reason. Cooltube that bulb and exhaust the entire cab via the cooltube. Passive intakes open opposite of the cooltube opening/scrubber. If you're displacing the entire cab every couple minutes it won't matter what kinda heat your lights pumping.

400w for bud density 250 for gpw efficiency.

Keep in mind some strains bleach easier than others. This is a nice vert donut mini-cab idea. Run chicken wire or similiar all around the inside will to train plants back.

Nice barrel? Those were 6" 1 gallon pots those were in weren't they? What do you think was the main issue? Did I read active intake through the cooltube? From the looks of it should have yielded triple the 2.8 z's. Looked great. I couldn't figure out. Maybe temps and airflow?

I can just see that big blue can sitting in the corner of my room. LOL

Freaking hilarious!

Plastic releases gas, the metal barrel here is around 10 bucks, a closet or a tent costs 30, also i thought about giving it some decor with wood stripes around it with a door and a glass table on top, even if i end up buying a tent later, ill be able to use it to store books with shelves. I wanted to use a wooden wine barrel but its expensive. Compared to a black tent i believe this is more stealth from a decoration prespective.

See what i mean? :p

What about 250W plus a 125w CFL in the 2nd month of flowering? Would it make for 400w bud density?

First things first grow tech. My first sentence should have ended in an "!" not "?".

I think the 250 should be enough. I'd be worried about heat in such a small cab with two heat sources. You shouldn't have very much fluff considering the barrel is about 2 ft across so you'll be close regardless. I think besides airflow, plant training will be the most crucial detail to reaching the most you can out of this cab. I'd prefer a custom built box personally, but whatever you like.

What are you using for airflow?
How are you going to wire everything and expect it to stay stealth?

i did a closet 2 years ago, and everything (holes, cables) were behind against the wall. This is just an idea that i have in mind and i do appreciate the negatives comments, because i want to check if it's stress free.

So, i was thinking about doing holes under the barrel and pull all the air through the cooltube up, ill probably have to go hydro. I could screw the ballast to the barrel and paint it in the same color but i guess that would mean more heat, anyway if heat is the problem ill buy a new exhaust.

I want to be able to take the most out of the grow, with the wood closet i made i had an issue with heat because wood kept the heat and since its 2ft across i thought i should put the bulb vertically so i can take the most out of the barrel height.

Wont metal transfer heat faster then wood? I mean the room temp wont let the metal heat that much as wood does (if the metal ends up retaining heat).

Thanks guys. Feels like that barrel was a lifetime ago. I still use a version of the barrel as a mini nursery. The pl-l tubes down the side of the barrel are some of my favorites for veg and supplemental when running hps. Them combined with the Fulham Workhorse ballasts are super flexible.
Anyways...what went wrong with the grow...his second attempt he pulled a qp out of it. Still not great. The irrigating system was overly complicated and often had issues that then would make the plants stressed. My buddy that did the pictorial is a disabled vet and wasnt real on top of checking things like e.c. and pH

He also still uses his but also just for veg

i was thinking about drilling holes and put "table" with pvc tubes, and underneath cover all the bottom with black plastic till the "table" making a container to add water this way the air refreshes the water the plants and flows through the cooltube.

What should i use to pull the air with a filter on? 200CFM?

Why will you probably have to go hydro? I think, if you do hydro, hempy would be the best. Active hydro takes up space you just don't have.

You're looking at less than 8 CF so 200 is overkill, but if you can fit one it shouldn't hurt. Computer fans seam to be the norm in micros. I've never done that so I can't comment, but I imagine they bog down to uselessness with a carbon filter. Bathroom fans are noisy, but come to my mind right away. Actually just googled and found some interesting supercharger (forced induction for cars) "looking" computer fans. Not sure how to carbon scrub those though.

More important than anything besides getting the heat out is the fresh air is coming through the plants.

Are you set on this barrell? No way you're gonna try framing out a 2x2x3 ft box and wrapping it in reflectix?

I found a 2x2x4 for cheap and bought it. I was saying hydro because it helps with temps and it can take the same espace the pots take

Not into those things, i did a grow before, i like to ask for an opinion and upload pics, also upload buds pics but i dont start a journal because im almost sure i wont finish it or atleast update the state of the grow.
