To 6 cubic feet of black gold organic soil I added:

2 1/2lbs. Bat Guano (0-7-0)
2 1/2lbs. Bone Meal (3-16-0)
2 1/2lbs. Blood Meal (12-0-0)
6 tbsp Epsom Salt
1 tbsp Powdered Humic Acid
1/4cup Kelp Powder
1/4 cup Azomite
1/2 cup Dolomite lime
1/2 cup Mycorrhizal Fungi - Endo Fungi (134 spores per gram )
30 or so pounds of Black Gold EWC
4 gallons of fine grade perlite
Then I mixed it up and put it into a garbage can and added 2 gallons of water.
Tell me now if I need to add anything else and I will try and toss it in during a weekly dump and stir.

THANKS 4 INPUT!

Looks like a decent list of ingredients, but it's hard for me to judge the proportions when you''re using different units like that (lbs, TBSP, cubic feet, etc). It'll be easier to understand if you write the amendments as "tablespoons per gallon", or "cups per cubic foot".

A couple general comments (my opinions, take 'em or leave 'em):

*If possible, use fish bone meal instead of regular (cow?) bone.

* Azomite will not burn your plants, or interfere with uptake of other nutrients. Feel free to add one cup per cubic foot (or so).

*Replace the blood meal with a mix of 2 parts alfalfa, 1 part neem meal, and 1 part crab meal. Blood meal provides a big jolt of nitrogen, but it doesn't last very long (in my experience). Also, the neem and crab meal deters pests, and the alfalfa contains growth stimulators.

*Don't mix the mycorrhizal fungi into your soil, just add it at each transplant (sprinkle into the hole before you plop your root ball in).

*Ditch the Epsom salts. You should have enough magnesium with your other ingredients. You can always address a Mg deficiency later if needed, but having TOO much magnesium in the soil in relation to calcium (and other cations) can cause problems.

I see now you said you already mixed it. Guess you'll just have to see how it goes!

I think it'll be sufficient. Post up your results.

Good luck.

Thanks! Yeah opened the lid to my trash can full of soil and had all sorts of good stuff growing on it... I am only a week into the cook... its getting up to almost 80 in the container with all the critters in there. Could I add any of those things you mentioned after the initial mix? Just dumped it our today and re-mixed / made sure all the soil was evenly moistened... Myco was already in the mix.. You see I bought these nutrients off of ebay combined and easy to add to my soil and EWC.. It was considerably cheaper this way.. only about 30 dollars.. I usually do teas with fish emulsion and a little bone and blood meal and some extra perlite for drainage.. This time I figured I would try out some supersoil, being as I will be growing for medical applications. How far into the "cooking" can I add more amendments and not cause burning? If I like the results, I will be buying much of these amendments in bulk and maybe learning how to re-use soil. Thanks for the reply.

i used to run a soil just about identical to yours. I would ditch the epsom salts next time. I would not add any more amendments. Just let it cook. if anything i would lighten it up a little. You will find that some strains love the supersoil and some not as much(might even see some burning) overall over the years i have personally found that supersoils produce great tasting organic herb. Reusing soil is great. i alternate the amendments. such as round 1 blood bone kelp round 2 guanos and kelp round 3 foxfarm fruit and flower then repeat.

So when you reuse your soil, you will re-amend with blood bone kelp one time, then guanos and kelp after that harvest, then you add back the fox farms on the third run.. Do you ever add back azomite, lime, etc? humus. myco etc? Or is it unnecessary?

Deffo listen to Spicysat...

If I was you I would cut the blood meal and bone meal, this shit is nasty.. blood and bones from slaughter house waste doesnt float my boat i'l tell you that much...

Neem meal, crab meal, alfalfa, you could even do what I do and take dynamic accumulators like stinging nettles, comfrey, horsetail, yarrow ect.. which are high in nutrients dry them out and crumble them up into powder and use those in your mix.. a lot of people recommend fish bone meal, not seen it over in the UK but I can get fish meal which I'm gonna try out at some point, Kelp is amazing stuff too which you already have.. Rock dusts are another thing I would recommend..

The amount of nutrients you wanna be using is around 3 cups of amendments total per cuft... not sure what that equates to in lbs tho

Can I add extra azomite mid "cook" or will that be a problem? I also bought some myco online and will be adding it in at each xplant as suggested (thx Spicy). Do I need to add more dolomite? A half a cup to all that soild seems a little inneffective..but I dont have much experience with lime so... I have used soil for many grows, but always with liquid nutes added every other watering and just a little blood / bone meal added to the original soil mix and it worked out very well... Supersoil is new to me.

say "no" to dolomite

i wonder how much K you will end up w/ more than anything ~K is plentiful in nature but it doesn't seem like you have much K in those particular choices

if you want to "lime" it more, think about straight Ca amendments like oyster flour

Oyster..good idea I will check ebay and local grostore for best price.. What do you suggest as a potassium supplement? I have yet to start new plants in this soil, only some bhut jolokia... so I can still adjust if needed.
Bhut Jolokia with my mix in bottom 3rd of container. The picture above is the same plant as the one below about 2-3 weeks after xplanted into super soil mix. I topped her at xplant I believe.. so I have 3 main tops now and already seeing flowers. Sorry, just a proud father lol

I like the way crushed looks... but thinking powder more quickly available.. Hmmmmm

Thanks for the replies! :) So a quarter cup of kelp powder for 6 cubic feet of base soil does not provide adequate K... How much should I add, and is it too late since I will be using this soil soon? Would a liquid supplement be better? Kind of defeats the purpose of super soil, but meh... I'm easy. Thoughts??

Tumpuh,

First, yes you can add your azomite in at any time. And with the kelp, you'd probably be safe adding up to 3 cups total of kelp, but I would start at 1.5 cups total. If you make any kelp teas just add the leftovers to the top of the soil and see how that goes.
