Hey guys!

I'm back with another journal. On my last (and first ever) grow, I learned a lot and was excited to document the journey with you. I ended up harvesting a pound of premium Kali Mist, yielding 0.71g/watt. I did a lot of mistakes along the way but this time around I'm hoping to improve this to 0.9g/watt.

The hardware is the same as last time except I up-sized the chiller to 1/2HP and added a new dehumidifier with auto-restart function so that my CHCC-4 controller can handle rH control as well.

At the time of this posting we're already two weeks into flower, so I'll share the few veg pictures I have.

As the flowers grow I'll share more pics since I find that period much more interesting to document.

If the ladies stay on track I should be cutting on Dec 24. Nice timing :)

This is flowering under two CaliLight Solarstorm 400W. Actual power draw is 600W + UVB.

I'm doing a better job at keeping the area under the screen clean, especially in the case of LED usage since penetration is so low

With the help of a trusted grower aquaintance, a potassium deficiency was diagnosed. I had not drained the res since the beginning of the grow. pH tended to be between 6.0-6.3 and when I saw this little graphic the K deficiency was even more clear. So I drained and re-fed, then stabilized the res to 5.8.

Flower is clearly underway. After the drain a week ago I have stabilized pH at 5.8 ever since and the damage the K deficiency did seems to be limited, thankfully.

How are you liking the LEDs?

They do a fantastic job in veg.

They're OK for flower but without a scrog I would imagine, with a big enough sample, that the efficiency curve falls dramatically. Penetration is very weak.

Howevever you can place the lights closer to the canopy. With a lightrail the lights are at 12in and the plants love it, so for folks with restricted height, that's a plus.

Versus HID imho LED is still too expensive.

I'm building a large grow area with DIY RWDEC and will be going with 1000HPS in that one.

Dec 26 will be 9 weeks of flower exactly. Dinafem suggests 10 weeks. I'm keeping an eye on the trichs. My micro photography equipment is out. As soon as I see an amber trich on a calyx I'll cut. Already found a few on the sugar leaves but Ed R says sugar leaves trichs sometimes have a mind on their own and aren't the best indicator of ripeness on the entire bud. Do you agree?

One month to the day since my last update. i guess there wasn't much to say. Had heat issues because of the dehumidifier, my 6" fan wasn't enough to compensate for the heat added by the dehumidifier even with a 20F differential with the Icebox. I upgraded to a 8" Icebox + 8" Fan and it solved the problem.

I also added a condensate pump to the dehumidifier -- I was emptying the container twice a day and it was driving me nuts.

I'm successfully keeping rH down to 30% and below these days.

I got about 30 buds like this waiting to be cut.

Haha, photographers seems often to suffer from GAS (gear aquision syndrome) which also affects growing technique
