when I log in and click forums, every sub forum is just listed one on top of the other rather than boxed and orderly as before? is everyone getting this? its hard to actually navigate as well as before.

"glitch" - lol. Sums it up - it's pretty hopeless. The first post under each forum is useless, it takes ages to traverse to a new forum and it doesn't make any sense or logical layout.

Awful change - I can't imagine any new user every wanting to sign up here again.

LOL - I for one don't like to complain much, but I find it kinda hard to navigate and find my way around as well now. Got really used to the other layout...and rather liked it.

I'm not sure if this conserves server space and thus costs this way or what...but I assume Skipper is just trying something different out for a bit to see how folks like (or don't like it).

I assume...site income hasn't been what it was in the past - and therefore the NEED for the change...but I'm no web designer and don't really understand how much space difference there is between the two layouts.

I do know, I miss the old one already...no offense, Skip - :huggg:- I know you don't do things for the sake of intentionally making things WORSE...but I for one would like you to reconsider this most recent change, mate. :shucks:

I've wanted to start this thread for a couple days now, to be honest - so glad I'm not the only one feeling this way about it. :grouphug:

I sincerely mean well with this post and am not trying to throw stones and those that keep the site operating...but...yeah, I've said what I thought already, so... :friends:

Careful, the last thread on this topic where people expressed dissatisfaction with the change and attempted to suggest alternatives got deleted.

I think it was Madjag (could be wrong) who made the very apt comparison to old Soviet Russia: on ICmag people and threads disappear, and if you ask questions, you disappear too! ;)

In all seriousness, it was a lot better before though. The red makes the forum a lot less calm, visually. This was more of a forum downgrade than anything else..

Deleting honest and fair user feedback and banning members seems a pretty quick way to make sure people don't bother signing up or contributing to the community.

I hope retribution is not the case here: people are trying to help admin out to try and keep this community viable. Not troll or denigrate.

It is a diabolical page layout, no two ways about it. If it doesn't change it's inevitable that users will migrate to more navigable sites.

I mean, I hate the comparison of it being communist or any of that other crap - I mean, there is a TOU and we ALL agree to it - we all know where the line is, unless you just lack self control and can't learn when to stop pushing folks buttons.

Skip isn't unreasonable - but keep in mind he deals with THOUSANDS of people every day in an attempt to maintain what is a FREE site...

Give him respect and don't come kicking down the front door all entitled like, and he's always been reasonable with me...always.

I personally don't understand how folks get banned - other than they just simply lack communication skills or they ignore warnings they are given and continue to violate TOU...

Soviet Russia...ROFL...you sitting in a jail cell for expressing your opinion? You getting KGB officers kicking down your down and threatening your life? Such comparisons are REALLY childish...and in MANY ways VERY disrespectful to people who actually DID live through such experiences, literally...

It's okay to express your opinion...but claim the site is persecuting you in real life and inhibiting your freedoms and all that crap is just silly....it really is. I really don't think people have the right to make comparisons to such extremes, as they REALLY don't understand the fullness of what they are saying...they are just running their mouths and utilizing terrible situations in history to put emphasis on...browsing a web site - yeah, hardly compares AT ALL.

I've never once been told that user feedback isn't welcome or appreciated...nor have I ever seen it stated...

Perspective is everything. Being able to understand and appreciate the view points of Mods and Admin is just as important and necessary as having to give credence to the thoughts of any other member - why people treat them differently is beyond me...or why they are placed on some pedestal and held to some inhumanly possible standard of shifting seamlessly across thousands of peoples subjective morality makes zero sense.

Just saying - don't turn this thread into a shit slinging fest - lest the actual message and reason it was created get lost in some sort of stupid drama. Let's all act like the adults we claimed to be when we agreed to the TOU...

I think the comparison was made with tongue firmly entrenched in cheek, obviously they are not the same, merely an extreme example to make a point, and possibly a few of us laugh..

Naturally, it's in the "talk about it" section somewhere down the page. You need to navigate down through a few subforums before you're allowed to see the country forums.

I don't know why "talking about it" is a seperate area in the forums - presumably in the grow forums you're not supposed to "talk about it".

here we go:
https://www.icmag.com/ic/forumdisplay.php?f=65626 <<<-- "It's shite being Scottish"
https://www.icmag.com/ic/forumdisplay.php?f=65631 <<<-- "You're a wizard Harry"

it totally blows...and yes, if you say anything about a seed company, or complain the least little bit, things get deleted, and/or your account gets deleted....its amazing that when someone asks where to get certain beans, and you help point someone in the right direction of a seed bank other than this sight, it gets deleted, you get warned blah blah...im sorry but the boo and bay don't have every seed created, not even remotely close, so imo it shouldn't matter, were all trying to grow what we want to grow...

I ask myself what your problem is, when "you get warned blah blah" ?

You can't use analogy on the internet. Somebody always gets a bug up their ass about it. Always. LOL

The main page was a bit arduous to scroll thru because of the amount of forums and subforums they have here.

Really what I think would greatly improve viewing the forums here would be to limit signature space to 2 lines.

Some signatures are straight up obnoxious and take up half a page worth of space. It gets annoying when you have a few posters with mile long signatures chatting it up in the thread because you spend half the time scrolling past crap no one cares about.

Between this terrible new layout, and my posts being deleted for no good reason(ones that I recieved many positive feedback), after being a member since 2005 and still getting treated like a newb troll and all the bs that goes with this site, IM OVER THIS PLACE! Im out! catch you all on the flip side.

love it or leave it people, it's a pretty minor change, not worth crying over.
nothing is wrong with the layout....

peoples ability to adapt to change on the other hand....

EDIT:
BTW: is my sig too long?

Yes your signature is way too long. Get rid of it. No one has ever bothered to read it, let alone bothered to click on your ten thousand links. It just makes your posting annoying to read.

------------

I PMed Skip about this yesterday but he hasn't replied. I did note that he has locked the announcement thread so noone is allowed to comment.

"Love it or leave it" doesn't seem very helpful to me. Given there are easily navigable sites with much more active user bases out there it sounds like you're telling people to leave.

As admin haven't bothered respond to this thread or PMs and have deleted feedback about the change I'm left wondering what the point is. It seems like they don't want users to stay here either :(.

It's a bunch of bad business decisions, one after the other.
