Man, that's a fantastic idea! Totally eliminates the need for stacked bulb vert set ups. Im going to have to seriously consider going vert now. :good: :good: :good:

Light mover in action. Shitty GIF but did not want to put it on youtube :moon: 30 seconds of travel and a 30 second pause at each end.

Pic of how it is rigged up. 2 pulleys and some paracord. Did not end up using the hooks you see. Zipties were easier to get the pulleys centered.

Drying tent filled up. Just the right amount of room.

Going to be a little bit before anything too interesting starts happening in flower. Will try to get some smoke reports from the last run up soon.

That's an awesome idea for a light mover...
I've been looking at mine wondering...

What the hell can I do with this thing...

MrAwder... FTW... Nice....:respect:

Thanks guys. I am curious about the mover as well. I can see why people are against them when they are using in the "standard" configuration. Especially over SOGs as there will be times when some plants are getting very little to no direct light. I think with v-scrogs it's a bit different because the light is continuously hitting the plant, just in different areas. I can also see some direct advantages to the movement:

1) No hot spots from the lamp. Been dealing with this on the past 2 rounds.
2) Better development of middle/lower buds.
3) No shaded areas of the plant due to movement and overlapping light patterns.

Even if this does not result in a direct yield improvement, I think it will bring up the overall quality of the buds. That said, this cannot really compete with stacked bulbs because at the end of the day, wattage is wattage. If you can handle the heat, and extra power cost, by all means stack 'em up. In my case, I am not looking to increase wattage but I do think this will stretch my lumens a bit further when all's said and done.

I also need to note this is not my idea. I am pretty sure I originally saw Marlo do it in his vscrog room. Credit where credit's due ;)

Three posts coming (11 pics). First up... ordered some papers online for the first time. Went a little overboard but should be set for a while. So much cheaper than the local shop. Got a nice variety to try and 24 packs of rizla silvers which I knew I liked.

Simple old grinder. No fancy kief catcher here. I use my box for that.

Flower update. Day 30. Both DSD are looking extremely frosty. Nice node spacing. Deathstar is the usual bushy tight buds of skunk.

Afghani Mango Report

Afghani Mango Report

This will be eventually be a good report on Afghani Mango. Problem is I'm now too incapacitated to write it up at this point. Got some notes and will probably take another crack at it shortly. In the meantime...

Report will be based off a joint smoked out of these Club ungummed papers. Only used a few them so far, but definitely one of the smoothest tasting papers I've used. I might clean some glass one day and come back with those observations as well.

The joint was hard to roll in that very very good way. If it's not obvious, only used about 2/3 the original bud. Hygrometer in the jar is reading 64% RH. Need to lookup harvest date... Clean burn, light gray ash. Not totally white though.

ya I love white ash man.. only time I see non white is if its a little to moist..

One nice thing about making tears from buds there is no reason to trim them. Love the vert light mover. Will have to set that up in my project. Very sweet set up dude.

Harvest #'s

Harvest #'s

Candy is dried. Everything went smoothly until... I started fiddling with my RH controller. 8 days in the tent around 50-60%, pulled out all the branches and broke them down to paper bag size. Loaded up 2 paper bags of "keeper" buds and a tray of popcorn. Back into the tent for a night and my slight controller adjustment somehow dropped the RH in to the 30's :wallbash:

Anyway, after 24 hours in paper bags and 30% RH I pulled everything out and broke it down for jarring. After 12 hours in the jar RH is reading 40% FUCKKKK. I added a slice of apple to each jar and will check again in ~8 hours. Pretty sure I fucked up the long term cure on this stuff... luckily it has such a strong smell to begin with. I use a slice of apple because I think citrus peel introduces too much flavor when jarred with buds. I know once RH drops below 50% you cannot really re-start the curing process. Just trying to get the buds moisture content up slightly for better long-term storage.

Box of keeper buds. Probably 2-3oz here

Tray of popcorn. Will be turned into BHO

Final #'s:

419g of good buds
49g of popcorn

Total: 468g = 16.7oz (0.78g/watt)

To be honest this is a bit lower than I anticipated. I did only use 4 plants instead of 6 I used on the first run. I'm still happy and will continue to be happy if I can consistently pull an elbow every ~5 weeks. I am definitely happy with the quality of the product, I'm sure yields will improve over time as I continue to tighten environmental control and improve my training methods and knowledge of the strains I'm running.

Very respectable haul. I had a sup who always used an orange peel and his weed always tasted like oranges - not bad for remoistening shwag. I used to use a green grape. Weed wont stick to it and it doesn't impart any flavor. Now I just take a drop of water and rub it on the inside of the jar top. Its faster and more controllable.

A q-tip wetted and put in the jar will rehydrate bu ds that have dried to much... after they have been over dried re introducing moisture won't help the cure, but will help keep them from crumbling to dust..... nice haul!

Macro lens

Macro lens

Thanks for the tips guys. Got all the jars back to ~60% RH. Still pissed at myself for letting this happen, but when I cracked the first jar last night it didn't seem like such a big deal :kos:

Picked up a macro lense for my phone. Didn't think these things actually did all that much considering it was a phone camera. Saw some pics others have taken with this phone and lens though and figured what the hell for $25.

Probably one of my fav smokes from the batch. Nice hybrid after-work buzz that chills me out but allows me to still get things done. Midas is for weekend days, DSD is for night-time. Always find myself reaching for the Pure AK between 5-10pm.

Nice shot wildgrow. I was able to see closer macros like that but the phone refused to focus. The image looked clear on the screen but the software would not register as "focused" and the resulting pic is shit. I'm hearing this may be an issue with my phone (Nexus 5) and a software update might fix it. I'll keep experimenting.

About half way through Round 3. DSD #1 buds look amazing, DSD #3 look about as nice but filled in more so far. They are both fairly similar to DSD #4 but just slightly frostier. I got rid of DSD #4 and DSD #3 and will grow another DSD #1 this round to test again. Round 4 was put into flower last night. 2 Pretty big Midas and 2 more DSD #1.

Bad news: lost all my clones while I was out of town over the holiday. Good news: My Bubba Kush S1's arrived today. This means I will probably end up going on a Bubba pheno hunt. Take clones of current gentics for new moms and pop 15 BKS1's. I'll have about 80 days to get them grown and cloned. At that point the flower chamber will be completely empty and I can give it a good cleaning and do a preventative bombing. This will mess up my current staggered harvest setup but I think I will try to do either a pheno hunt or mono-crop once a year to get that break period where I can clean and use foggers.

Okay enough rambling... pics

Definitely deep chunk characteristics showing through on the above. Dark green leaves, frosty fans that curl at the base and purple petioles.

Here is round 4 in place:

Finally got my door and drywall up. Here is a shot from outside. Also put up a little shelf and got a bluetooth speaker for while I'm working.

Some more macro shots I was trying out. Midas. Really like this stuff as it cures. Interesting taste, lemony with sharp haze touch. Different from SLH though, not as sweet.

Did some re-arranging with the walls up. Things are running smooth in general. Ready to pop some seeds.

Thanks everyone.

Few more pics. They released an update for my phone, supposed to clear up some of the camera issues. Definitely easier to focus now, but the overall quality looks about the same.
