HELP! Aeroflo2 60 Root Rot wont Stop

Hello, ive done alot of searching to prevent and treat root rot, ive bought chillers, h2o2 and tried bleach. I run my res temps at 66F, my keep my ppms 1200-1400 hanna conversion with GH 3 part, I use an Aeroflo2 60, with 46 sites filled. under 2 air cooled hoods with 1k hps bulbs each. Temps in room 27 degree Celsius. No light reaching tubes or res. I keep my water level at the lowest possible the aeroflo tubes allow. Ive tried bleach at 1ml per 5 gallons , and bleach at 1ml at 10 gallons, its good after a couple days, but i lost my last crop with using bleach, tried h2o2, didnt seem to help and is way to expensive to maintain. Im using Cannazym and Rhizotonic from Canna this round to treat it, its slow, but theres deff some rot somewhere, what can i do now to not lose this crop? Im 4 weeks in flower. need some guidance.

Dang man, I am no pro in this line of growing, but I hope you have not developed a strain of Pythiun immune to common treatments.

You may need to look into a hardcore antibiotic to kill this problem and a serious sterilization.

Stick in there man, wait for the pros to chime in. I hate the feeling of not being able to figure out the problem...especially when there is a lot of money and time invested.

On the other hand, I just learned my lesson form an over feeding problem I caused. My roots started looking like shit and my ppm was only at 1.8ec/900ppm, hanna meter too @ 500 conversion. 2.4-2.8ec/1200-1400ppm might be high amigo, have you ever tried motoring back on the nutes? I run 1.3ec/650ppm now and things couldnt be looking better.

Keep'ya chin up, someone will lead you in the right direction.

Well this is just what I would do.....I would fill your system with water and let it run for a little cleaning it out. Basically trying to let the hose run in the system while it is draining so you don't overflow anything. Once I felt it was pretty cleaned out I would refill with less strength nutrients (once you see your plants reacting well you can bring your PPMs back up) and would add something like SM-90 or Zone from DM. These products I feel work better and not only help stop the spread of the problem but helps promote new root growth. I also always add either one of the (SM90,or ZONE) first when making a fresh batch of Nutes. When I use H202 I like to use is it right before I switch my water out....IE I will add some h202 to 5 gallons of water and pour into my resy....then I let it sit and run around in the system for a couple hours...I also turn on my top drip to let it run thru the lines. Once the couple hours is up I then drain out the system and fill with fresh nutes.

Aero is a TUFF way to grow in my opinion. The buffer zone is much less then say other Hydro systems. Ever try Recirculating Buckets?

Thanks for the replys guys, this all started about 2 weeks ago, where i saw
some browning at the ends of roots, I then added Cannazym, ends arent brown
anymore, but i started each site up, espcially the bigger plants, the root mat that dooesnt touch the water is going brown. what I did then was I flushed the system and drained it at the same time, meaning, i left a hose with fresh tap water coming in, and had a pump pushing water at the opposite end draining. One week later, browning is coming back with the new res change. Before i used floralicious plus, Gh 3 Part, Snow storm and Gravity, AN Big bud. Now my res only has the GH 3 part, Gravity, snow storm, Rhizotonic and Cannazym. I might raise the water in my aerotubes so it all touches the roots. I don't want to use any sterizling agents, but If it'll save my crop, im all for it. what do you guys think?

First get rid of that Gravity! That stuff is horrible! I would just try running GH 3part and either the SM90 or Zone. Then for a bloom I would use either KaBloom powder or ROCK heavy Yields. If the roots that brown are not getting wet this would cause them to brown. I am a fan of less is better.

My buds for just shy of 5 weeks look pretty plump tho. Might have been the Bigbud, graivity and snow storm will be excluded in the next res chnage, i also think im gonna raise the water levels and lower the PPMs, if nothing works, sterile res it becomes.

I understand the Ban, i just bought it a while back and decided to use it, doesnt matter now though, rot might kill my crop, im trying to take it to 10 weeks, rot started at around 2-3, doing a full flush tonight, fresh nute change, raising water in tubes, leaves are starting to yellow and wilt, fml. aeroflo is my 3rd techique im trying to dial in, coco F&D or DTW didnt show much of a yield difference (+- half P) as i changed my res every week. Soil is too easy almost boring easy, it works but i like to push for a bigger and faster harvest with hydro. Im sure all the hydro growers would agree to some degree. Anyways i'll update in a couple days on the progress.

It might be Cyanobacteria "brown slime". I would get some Physan20 and disinfect the whole system. Fill it with water and put 1ml/5 gals in and scrub everything well, run it overnight, scrub everything well again, fill it with rinse water, scrub again, then drain and refill with nutrient solution. Some people use the Physan20 in the nutrient solution and it does control the brown slime that nothing else can, but I personally have had touch and go results using it with plants long term, a few strains and smaller plants started turning bright yellow even with only 0.05ml/gallon P20. My latest battle with the slime ended when I sterilized my system as above, then mixed a fresh CLEAN additive free solution using just the base chem nutes and a hypochlorous acid (chlorine) additive to keep the pathogens at bay. Has been working alright, but the priority is proper sterilization with the P20 before starting anything new.

I'm thinking about brewing bennies to combat the bad bacs. After researching for a cure without sterilization is heisenbergs tea, supposively, the tea is basicly breeding your own bacterial and fungal army to compete with the bad bugs and promote new root growth. Heard it worked wonders in dwc. Gonna order a few things and test it out.

im running 2k in air cooled hoods in my 10x5 tent, its perfect for one aero 60 imo, you want about 50watts per square foot. if you wanna run 4k get an extension aeroflo 60. Update to my progress, leaves yellowing still on some plants, some plants making a comeback, new root growth, still packing on buds. I knocked up my res with piranha powder, got it for a deal at a closing dro store. plants started eating again, sitting on 700ish ppm. Theyre drinking alot of water, but im handling it with top offs everyday.

I had slime issues in one of the places I lived... bashed my forehead bloody against that wall for a while untiI I figured out it was the water. Turns out I couldn't let any tap water touch my hydro equipment or meters or anything... nasty infected stuff.

Everything had to be super bleached with R/O water and only R/O water was allowed around it. Moved before I found the antibiotic treatments so dunno on that one.

I do know that your setup is overkill and shouldn't have any slime problems at all... unless one of your bottles is adding it to your res. Ya know?

Keep it Clean! :D

excellent point made here, and it DOES work well , used the heisenberg tea running water temps of 24.5c with no signs of trouble.

You should look into making your own EM-effective microorganism(lactic acid bacteria)its a good sterilising spray to use for CLEANING almost anything and a natural DECOMPOSER OF all things.clean your growroom walls by applying weekly sprays, this for me has taken the place of my sulfur burner at times when i dont want to kill all the microbial life in the soil and grow room, the more STERILE your room or media is the less BENEFICIAL microorganisms you have helping you suppress the bad ONES.

HERES SOME RECENTLY MADE and i will be putting these guys to use in my new rdwc setup to come,

CHECK THIS ARTICLE OUT!

However, according to Dr. Higa, in abused or diseased-chemical based soils, 5 to 10% of the overall colony is pathogenic made up of disease causing organisms. They steer the neutral microbes and create low productivity. Some soils are so bad that less than 1% of the organisms are beneficial. The dominant pathogens lead the neutrals into rot, decay and disease with great inefficiency. All we have to do to turn the tables isout number the bad guys with the good guys. Beneficial and effective microorganisms will take over the helm and direct the neutrals into a balanced productive state. We don’t need to disinfect, rather we co-infect. Overwhelm the bad guys through foliar sprays, soil drenchesand compost treatments. In livestock housing we spray

the bedding, cement and walls. The EM will work to biologically exclude the pathogens.(surpresses growth of mold found in some species)

Update, THE ROT IS GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! bennies. guys BENNIES. i knocked up my res with bennies (piranha and some next fungi i got from rona, a week later and new root growth, WHITE, a lil thicker, but no more browning or dying roots. Ima be running bennies until they fail. havent tried heisenberg tea yet, but if piranha and rona brand lawn fungi can kill them, im all for it. I also raised the water level so its kinda like NFT, about an inch of water, might of helped too, Girls are eating again, consistantly, pretty happy with a live res, try it. Btw I did not run any organic additives other than the bennies, stayed 3 part GH and bennies, kept ppms at 700ish. girls looking good, next time ima innoculate from the start and see how things go. thanks for the advice guys, i hope this helps anyone who runs into any trouble in hydro.
