So here is the story.
Bought a car from a friend, paid him off over time. Once it was paid off I planned to give it to my mom who lives about 3 hours away. The day came for me to go get the carso we get over there and it needs a new battery and oil change and one of the tires is flat,and he didnt have the lock for the rims, so it turned into a 5 hour clusterfuck to get the thing moving.
After all the stress we jump on the road, I had a rental a buddy was followin me in to get me back home. I had gotten a 7 day traveller pass which allows you to move a car interstate without plates from point a to point b.
Well about an hour away from moms I get pulled over, in the rush and bullshit drama my buddy had forgotten to pull off his expired plates. I explained the situation to the officer and he went and checked my docs then came back and said everything looks good but you need to get those plates off there. No problem I said, then he goes you mind if I have a look in the car.... Well my dumb ass goes sure no problem... I didnt have shit on me. Turns out my buddy left a baggy with a nug in the trunk. Well they were loving that, we were downstate in the country and coming from the big city.
Now he does the are you drunk test and I pass and I am basically beggin him to let me go, well he says im not gonna lock you up but we are impounding the car. 400 to get it back he says which i didnt have on me but my buddy offered to put it up, follow me to the atm he says and we jump in the rental leaving my new car to be towed. Sooooooo we follow the cop to the atm about 20 miles away then to his shitty little town to pay at the station and geta receipt, now you gotta go 30 miles to this other town but dont worry theyll be open he says.
Well we get there and the tow place is closed, we call the number nd the guys like ya bud i went home but if you want the car its 175 towing fees, so we scrape what we have get the car and GTFO with 40 bucks left to our name.
Now I have a courtdate down state for possesion of 2.5g, these get thrown out here in the city 98 percent of the time but im kinda worried bein a city boy down state. Classs c misdemenor punishable by 30 days or w/e
The cop didnt issue any moving violations. Hope they just throw it out oo what a pain in the ass nbow i gotta rent another rental to go down there again...
Im such a fuckin dumb ass im usually very carefull but in the stress of all that happened tryin to get the car moving I didnt check to see those plates were off and clean it out...
Buddy swears he didnt have no bud in there, hes like they planted it but the thing is wouldnt they have dropped weight on me if they wanted to do that?
I am so dumb for havin those plates on but he gave me no ticket or violation for em as i had the legal travel pass but I guess that gave him probable cause to pull me over?
Then he didnt need probable cause to search as i consented?

Lady says make sure i go to court if the cop dont show i might get my impound money back idk though....
