I've been lurking here for awhile and felt it was time to get in on the action.
I've been an on again/off again grower for over 30 years. I've done nothing but outdoor, soil grows since the early 80's. Typically, a grow for me was taking a handful of bag seeds and throwing them in a local farmer's field for an entire summer. I would re-visit my grow site only once or twice during the season just for the heck of it. If any plants were getting too aggressive I would simply take some baling wire and tie the stuff down so it couldn't be seen easily. I would usually end up with a couple very nice bushes by the fall that would keep me supplied until next year's crop.
I've become interested in the newer techniques found here on this forum and other forums for growing. I'm simply amazed at how much information is out there and how many different growing ideas have developed in the last 20 years. I'm also amazed at how many people have become willing to share information in such a public forum. I'm from the age of paranoia when it comes to marijuana. My friends and I have never discussed with anyone our grows, yields or anything to do with weed in general unless we knew we were alone and couldn't be heard. In my generation if you said the word 'marijuana' you were considered a criminal first and foremost. My how times have changed. I'm still not comfortable discussing such issues with anybody but the closest of friends because I still live in a state where the idea of 'legal marijuana use' is still years away. So, I still do treat the idea of growing and smoking as though I was involved in illegal activity. It seems weird to be discussing this stuff in such an open manner.
Thanks to everybody that's contributed information in these forums. I've found this to be one of the most informative sources of marijuana culture and hopefully, if I get over my paranoia I can contribute some of what I know and have learned over my years of growing.
