Building a uc system any pointers or opinions wanted:)

looking nice and frosty. where the plants in late flower as short as the ones you have just put in?

did you use bulk head fittings or uniseals to connect the pipes to the buckets?

They wer smaller then them to start. About 4-6" tall I used 2" uniseals. We built a few systems with 3" bulkheads but I wasn't digging them. PVC needs to be lined up perfect not to leak

Should that be the case you're definitely not using R/O water or you're using some nutes I've not heard of.
[/FONT] (Edit: Or you're mixing the exact ratio of nutes and water your plants require... in a humid environment. The lower the humidity, the less nutes you can run as the plant needs to take up extra water for transpiration.) Usually when you mix the ratio that the plants take both food and water at the same rate... the plants are over fed. *shrug* Usually.

When I talk about growing hydroponics you can always assume that I'm talking about R/O water when I mention how pH reacts or should react. I don't talk about how it will react with tap water because I have no clue what your specific tap water is and I'm not up to guessing.

As for the rest? See the statement above... these figures have been proven over and over and over... by complete newbs and professionals. It's worked the same way for me for over 10 years now with R/O water from 4 different locations in the country in 3 different states.

It's also worked exactly as I've stated for everyone that's listened and applied the information correctly. I mean exactly the same as it does for me... every time.

I do so love the results. lol

Yes with a 1000W. Even when I had 8 plants and 2600w above it I still only ran about 25 gallons in the whole system. Then would have to top it off every 3 days or so with 5 gallons.

You are right I don't use RO water....but have used it and still ran the same way. As for nutes I have used GH 3part for 10 years plus then some DM Gold and now Mills for the past year or so. Again like I said, every garden is there own. To each there own for the way and how they grow. I am just not a fan of having to use more than needed. If you use air stones this will also play with your PH levels. Also wasn't saying you are wrong just giving my 2cents and experience over the years. Your method of course would work.....GMO food "works" but doesn't mean it is healthy for us. Again not here to say you are doing it wrong or anything of that matter.... I just like spending less and still getting more with quality!

Ive read this entire thread and I think there are valid points by both. I mainly agree with Hydroman00!! Ph swing is not do to just rezy size. There are many reasons you could have ph swing up or down in hydro. Ive been running 15-17 gallons in my 4bucket setup for almost 6 months now.No ph swings at all and im getting awesome yields. As for nutrient im running Dutch masters full line. After a couple days I top off the rezy with plain water and balance the food and ph back. Not hard

Alilderanged. That's is one bad thing about pvc Diys. Everything must be straight and cant be bumped while walking by or a leak might pop up. I got tired of it and bought one of these systems and couldn't be happier. Check the rubber on rubber seal on what im rocking. No leaks here.

As to nightol2013 My advice into building a Diy UC setup Is take your time and get all the right stuff. Make sure its nice and thick because over time water will bow containers causing leaks. If not a shop vac will be your best friend.

I'm going to have to say you remember your numbers incorrectly.

I dare anyone to try and set up 2600w and 8 plants in dwc that only uses 5 gallons of water every 3 days. :) That just screams too much nutes and low end quality to me.

The only way I've been able to get slow nute/water consumption like that is feeding too heavily... seriously impacting the bottom line for quality. I've been rounds on quality for 5 years... after peeps were already raving about my quality. (Found some better than mine 5 years ago and chased it...)

Anyway... the rest doesn't matter. :tiphat:

I wish I had $100 for every 10, 15, 20 year grower that handed me their 'fire' and I had to be polite as I hacked a lung up on overfed and/or otherwise poor quality cannabis.

Looks good to the un-educated eye... but most of it's been pretty disgusting stuff. :(

Have fun with the UC systems guys... I'm outta this thread! :dance013:

I am going to say you are just another "Internet Wonder" thinking they are always right and that there way is the only right way and all others are wrong! LOL Good! Then keep supporting those water bills and Nute companies! I will keep making a more superior product and make more $ doing it cause I spend less then you do and your magical ways.
