Gnomes New Bloom Room

Nice work gnome! That looks sexy as hell! Could you explain what I'm looking at? A wire comes out of the bottom of the sub panel and goes through those three boxes, each of which are split into 2 220v single plug outlets. Out of the other side of the box is a wire that connects to a plug that connects to a digital timer.
My questions to you is are the timers set to start up at two minute intervals?
And like brad Pitt said at the end of "Seven" , "what's in the box?" can you take a pic?
Thx masshole

mucho thanks for the good words mass :)
and this lite controller could have been done with less timers etc etc
but this is a basic set up, plus i saved a bundle...
and on your basic Q if the timer I'll go into more detail for others on the answer

A wire comes out of the bottom of the sub panel and goes through those three boxes, each of which are split into 2 220v single plug outlets.

each of the boxes feeds 2-1000w lamps/ballasts thru the 2-220v outlets

each box is on its own 220v 15A breaker

inside each box is a 220v relay
now as a side note,
each relay/box is capable of firing off 4-1000w lamps on the relay
BUT would need a w/30A 220v breaker
but for the sequential start up i went with 2-1000w lamps per box.
or i could use 2 relays and start up 3KW on sequ. start up etc etc

here is the plans i used

Out of the other side of the box is a wire that connects to a plug that connects to a digital timer.
My questions to you is are the timers set to start up at two minute intervals?

each outlet is the *start trigger* for each relay.

and yes, the timers are at staggered @ 2min start ups for each 2-1000w of lamps/box

each outlet is on 110v line,
this is what *trips* the 220Vrelay in the box to fire the 2000w of lite.
doing it like this i can use these cheaper timers without overloading them and having a melt down.
and as said above you can fire 4000w's of lamps w/1-timer on a 110v line :)

And like brad Pitt said at the end of "Seven" , "what's in the box?" can you take a pic?

NICE!!!
Very neat.
So you are just running 6-1000's for now?

ty Mr Blah
yeah, just 6000w's..... for now,
for the last 3 years Ive been cutting my teeth on 2-1000w grows
non sealed rooms.

this is a big step for me,
I'm going sealed w/Co2 and tripling the size of the grow.
so Ive bitten off a pretty big chunk to chew on.

I have room for another 2000w on the elec panel
so... once this party gets humming and if needed,
I'll add em on in.

actually, sizing things out i have room to run 3 beds w/3000w per for a total of 9000w and extra electrical to make it happen.
it will be tite on the space, but doable.
i always hated the bedroom grows where i had to tiptoe around and fast for 24hrs to fit my butt around in the room :D
but realistically.....
the 8KW will be pushing it on the AC so.....?

Thanks for the explanation! I'm always impressed by the wealth of knowledge growers have !

LOL.. I'm no Einstein fo sure and 90% of my indoor grow knowledge comes from this place......
it"s like a blender where ideas, facts and more and better ideas swirl around
and are absorbed by others, utilized and put back into the blender

suspension system for the lights

this is another part of the project Ive thought on for for a long time.
Ive read every post on the forums i could on hanging things from the ceiling trying get some good ideas
one i liked utilized concrete reinforcement mesh an IC'er put on his ceiling,
it has 4" x 4" square holes and 4ft wide,
this allows you to move anything in any direction.
but i passed on it,
its raw steel wire and it rusts, plus you need a ladder to re hang anything.

I always wanted something on tracks or rollers that went the length and width of the room so you grab the reflector and pulled it where needed,
no ladder needed...this has been my goal.

once again aluminum to the rescue.... :dance013:
I've had some 20ft long x 1-3/8" x 1-3/8 leftover alum. stock from a job yrs ago..
this was to be the basis for my *track system*
the room is 20ft X 14ft so this works out perfectly
its light weight and easy to work with.

on the ceiling I mounted 3-2x4s lagged to the ceiling across the 14ft span
1 in the middle 2 on the ends,
the 2-20ft alum. pieces running the length of the room were mounted to the 2x4s with 1-1/2" 2-hole galv. U straps

these 2-20ft pieces are what support the cross bars that the lamps are hung from using swivel pulleys.
i cut the cross bars from the 20ft alum stock in 1/2 to 10ft.
this left me w/2ft on each side.
the 20ft alum worked out perfectly
i can move the lamps in any direction length or width with a broom handle.
when i have more time I will set the swivel pulleys support bar on some type of rollers so its smooth as silk to move the cross supports the length and lamps across the width

the pulleys are loosely hung with a piece of awg #10 copper wire,
it slides but not as easy as i want, but still don't need a ladder to move the lites

Nice pulley system! Room's looking A+. My only question would be, have you ever tried or thought about vertical lighting?
Also, how high are your ceilings?

awesome thread bro. subscribing.

hey hash,
good to see ya bro :smoke:
not sure what thread you mentioned this morning but this is the one i was talking about:

This room is getting better and better can't wait to see some flowers...

I wasn't sure when this room would be online and had to shut down my other ones so I've been keeping the clones in limbo, and it may take another month of vegging to be able to flip to bloom

*what to do* has been on my mind for awhile retro
now that i have this room most anything is up for the taking
so to say.
Ive thought about tables/beds doing a sog thing or a stadium type grows V type gro...(I like those)
tree's etc etc
and vert too has my interest.

my ceiling is 8'3" on the grow end and 7'11ish on the other.
kills me because if i didn't insulate the lid i would have and easy 9ft.

I plan on going with what i already kno.. soil in pots.
once i get the learning curve down running a seal rm w/Co2
I'll start trying different methods

Cool. Reason I asked is, if your ceiling is high enough, you can grow sativas and just let them go to town with bare, vertical bulbs, stacked. They get full of buds all the way up & down, and the vertical, bare bulbs give off tremendous amounts of light, considerably more than hoods.
But I see what you mean. The possibilities are endless, so you can try them all as you go along. I'd like to see Hempy buckets with coco & vertical lighting in that room, and see how much more the yield would be. I would guess more than double. Good luck with it.

If you make the move to coco, you cannot beat Hempy buckets. They are easy and foolproof. Just water/feed to runoff daily, and you will get tremendous growth. Even a two gallon Hempy bucket is plenty big enough to grow trees, and will outperform any other pot. They only cost $2 @ HD. Small buckets save on coco too, and you really will not get bigger plants by potting up.
Coco is the bomb. It holds a tremendous amount of oxygen and plants/roots love it.
Recommend Canna bagged coco. No need to wash, and a really nice, clean consistency. Light and fluffy, but holds a tremendous amount of water. I doubt you'll be going back to soil after trying coco....:)

i already ordered 3 brix of botanicare, and tested some yesterday.
100ppm over tap, 1 rinse and i was good to go.
I would love to get pour-n-gro bagged coco.i
but it's way too expensive shipped to me
$20 for the bag of coco and $36 shipping..

the Co2 system
here's another place i save a chunck of change.
looking at C02 burners i would have spent $450
for a water gen $350.

the water gens for $350 at the hydro sites are nothing more than a tankless gas water heater.. thats it
they just change the outside cover out with one that has their logo on it and bam!!
you pay $250 more.

here's mine...
under $120 shipped,
picture.php

i used pex for the water supply line side and a section of rubber air hose from an air compressor for the drain side.
I made sure to use ribber hose to take the wot water.
the propane gas line was from a torch used in single ply torch down roof systems.
all 3 lines are sent to the rooms drain+water supply station.
picture.php

for water supply either hook it straight to tap or get a pump.
i got the pump, it hooks to the Co2 sniffer
for the water supply i keep a 32gal. brute trash can.
same as I use for plant water.

picture.php

currently I drain to waste instead of back into the brute,
worried about heat build up but as it only used 2-gallons a day max i may reuse the water.
when i have a room full of plants it'll run much more i'm sure
i have 4 drains on 3/4"pvc pipe
on the right is the mini split waste line
next is the Co2 gen
and the left are 2(can only see one) used for the dehuey's water.
they both have built in pumps so that is a big help.
i put a P-trap in the line to keep and bugs from back tracking in the room
and for 10lbs of dank aroma going out.

last thing to do here is install a GFI recp. on the outlet

Yow! I get bags of Canna for about $15 at local hydro store.....Shipping really kills it for you.
