Carbon Scrubber Thickness?

Hey everyone. Long time no see!

I was wondering what a good rule of thumb is for carbon scrubber thickness with a micro grow. I imagine surface area has a lot to do with it. Say my scrubber is rectangular and about 15 inches by 7 inches. How thick do you all think it would have to be to eliminate odor?

Also, what kind of granularity would be best? Would regular fish tank carbon (the raw, unpellitized stuff) be ok?

here's some good carbon..

as to building I have no clue.. i use bought scrubbers, but I refill them with the above, he has many sizes available.

Most commercial scrubbers are said to be 1inch thick, hope this helps.
