Barely any stretch when timer switched

Growing in a dr60 400w air Cooled hood. Temps range from 78 when lights are on and 59 lights out. I'm running a 3 gallon hempy with perlite and vermiculite mix. Strain is a clone of skunk2. And maybe the most helpful piece of information is that I also vegged with the 12-1 light schedule, which I have used in my past grows with great success.

Now the problem I'm having, is that when I flipped my timers, th atretch was pretty.....well uneventful. Now I'm only in my 2nd week of flower but in the past I have had much stretchier strains. THIs one seems to be slowly stretching. It was about 8 inches tal and 18 inches wide when I insuced flower and it's about 10 inches tall and almost as wide as te tent can take. I thought the stretch would take the plant to about 18 inches but maybe I'm jus being impatient.

Does the 12-1 light cycle prevent stretch? Anybhelpbis appreciated. I was hoping to fill the cab up with fat buds, but it is now looking like a trained scrog without a screen.

Veg is either 18/6 (18 on ,6 off) or (24 on) that might be the problem or the strain is a veg strain where you need to get it established before you flip it

Does the 12-1 light cycle prevent stretch?
YES...

I've heard reports that some full indicas and possibly indica dominant strains go wonky on that lighting schedule.

The 4 sativa-dom strains I was running at the time I tried that lighting schedule all loved it and none stretched more than an inch or so.

Keep it Clean! :D

Hi,

12-1 cycle - sorry to ask but what exactly does that mean?
I experienced much shorter stretching when the veg-phase was longer (e.g. until pre-flowering).

Cheers

The 12-1 light cycle is 12 on, 5.5 off, 1 on, 5.5 off. Rinse and repeat. I have used it in the past with great success, but this strain seems to not like it too much. I also noticed that she started putting out flowers at 7 days. She does stretch a little every day, so maybe it'll even out over the next couple weeks.

If it's strain dependent, depending in how it turns out, I'll decide if I want to keep this strain after this run. I guess it's not that bad. Mans I can fill an entire scrog without worry of massive stretch. Good for what I'm doing right now but not for what I want to do.

my guess is, that everyone missed the point of day/night temps differences 78 day and 59 night, cold temps slow metabolism rather than focus 12-1 that btw it cut most of the stretch also, stay between 10 degrees day/night difference

I don't understand the part about how you vegged with the 12/1 schedule & then flipped the lights to 12/1. Perhaps you can explain.

I've flowered in 60 degree rooms before and still got stretch. I'd bet it's the strain. I had a purple that wouldn't really stretch when I flipped. Good thing was it finished really fast. It also had really leafy bud compared to everything else in the room. Hopefully its just a squat plant.

Have you checked for light leaks to ensure it isn't stilll in veg?

Th plant is just squat I guess. I went to my buddies place who gave me the clone, and his girl is also quite squat, but bushy as all be. His room is 2 weeks ahead of mine so it's nice to see how it's going to develop in the coming weeks.

I ran a purple widow strain twice that wouldn't stretch on me and had to go way of the dodo as far as my garden was concerned. Super hard nugs, but the lack of stretch and yield was disturbing. Too bad super dark buds. Second darkest behind blue odyssey I've ever seen.

So it seems that the stretch is picking up. I feel it's more of a uniform, gradual stretch and not a blast off that I'm used to. It's nice, and I may be looking at 2 foot finishing height. Not a solid candidate for sog due to its massive branching, but it'll serve a good purpose for my current run.

Hey - sounds good!:blowbubbles:
Sorry to bother you again about that 12/1 cycle. But do you maybe have a link to more detailed info about that. Never heard of it but it sounds very interesting!
Thanks in advance
