read the instruction manual and itll show you the diff functions that help keep the oven from overshooting and heating too fast. its a bit of trial and error affected slightly by ambient room temp and altitude. start with your D setting of 1000 and your I setting of 200-250 and adjust accordingly, remember your I value should be 20-25% of the D value. also add a piece of granite/marble to your oven. the SCH1 and SCH2 values are to calibrate the heat sensor, so the center of the oven actually is the same temp as the PV readout, mine was about 2˚ off (PV said 115, the thermometer on center rack said 113) till i added the slab and adjusted the SCH1 and SCH2.

thanks, much appreciated. Ive ready the manual over and over and i am still a little confused on how to calibrate the oven. Ive tried to auto-tune it but that hasnt seemed to work. Im lost on how to calibrate adjust the PID manually.

D setting of 1000 and your I setting of 200-250

It says in the manual that "D" should be 1/5-1/4 of "I". Im confused on why you have I lower than "D".

sorry i swithed those around in my head, downside to research and development is sometimes im reallllly baked lol. lemme edit that out so i dont confuse anyone down the line, thanks for pointing that out!

my paramaters are as follows:
TI=480 (8 hours then oven shuts off for making shatter)
P=113
I=1500
D=350
SC1=40
SC2=50

the only settings im still trying to get dialed in are the SC1 and SC2 settings.

thanks again for the help.. your the man. im unaware of what TI is. why do you have it shut off at 8hrs (TI=480)? how big are your slabs to make shatter in 8hrs? how do you know its shatter when it could still be decarboxyling (still bubbling)?

Hey thanks, Sneaky. In the first post you said set your D to 200-250 and then in the second you said 350. Wondering which you meant.. Also, do you put a marble slab on each rack or just the bottom?

Bringing this thread back to life..My 1.9 AI unit shipped and should be here soon. Then reading this thread i realized it only comes with 2 shelfs..and 3 more are 60$..ud think the price we pay for these things theyd give u all the racks the oven can use..

Nice observation furry.. Sneaky does have a few dif settings posted maybe hell come back to this thread and update it?

Seems the marble slab really helps with the heat distribution.. Did you get a big one to cover the whole bottom of the oven or just the center of the oven?

I just got the "new and improved" AI with more sensitive temp controls... after a couple days of messing with it the only difference I notice is that the temp is displayed in C instead of F....

How are u guys getting inside oven temp readings? I would think that if you point your IR thermometer through the window, it will give you the temperature of the glass pane, and if you open it to take a direct reading, the incoming air will cool it?

@analoguecricket -- factory settings

I either get a wired or wireless thermometer and put the sensor inside the oven or open the door and use the laser thermometer

Mine just showed up in F. are you sure you got the right controller? id be calling them asap>>>

the controller is kind of whacky but I think it's the right one for the system... currently, the set point and actual oil temperature differential is 25F on the top shelf... I know that could be fixed with messing with the settings but, it's consistent so I'm not sweating it...

Hey Furry,
I am curious if you are still seeing discrepencies on every shelf. Can you tell me where the heating elements are placed in the oven?

If they are on the top and bottom I don't see how it is possible to get even heating throughout the entire oven, as there is no air inside to conduct the heat so the slabs must be heated by radiation, in which case the middle ones won't get as much heat. Is there something I'm missing here?

I am about to try out some liquid crystal thermometer strips(thanks SkyHighLer!) in my AI and see how inaccurate it really is. From experience I would conclude that the very bottom is slightly warmer than the rest of the chamber. No complaints about the upper region being out of calibration though.

I think there might only be a heating element on the bottom as I've noticed an increase of about 1-2F for every shelf down until the bottom shelf which is usually about 5-9F hotter.

Omega's out of stock of the 10/$13 packs of strips, they do have 30/$36...
