Here are a couple shots of my tumbler affectionately known as the Cliffanator "after my dead friend that made it". It is a 55 gallon enamel lined drum with part of a subaru water pump, a square center drum with 110 us screens, not sure what the motor is from, with the pulleys I get about 35 rpm at the drum, the timer is an old darkroom timer. It's about time to clean him up and get to work, the weather is outrageous for nov not freezing yet, when it does i will post some pics.

I will take more pics soon. the bat in my camera died. The screens are hot glued to the four sides of the of the inner drum, and the keif, falls into the drum. You put the front/top on the barrel.

Yes, just like the one in the tumbler. These are the Gammo screw on lids that you can also buy for 5 gallon buckets. The square containers come in an assortment of different heights.
Thanks, I have another 55 gal drum, now I know where to get the inner drum.

Great Thread EsterEssence
Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
I really like the PoorMan approach, you demostrate that one dont need to be rich to smoke top quality.
You just have to be smart as i see!

Yea I saw them online now to find a low rpm motor, only things I can think of are ice cream maker, or rotisserie motors. We used the ice cream motor for years.

Wheels and all; I like it.

If you looked at the outside of it, without knowing what was inside the barrel with the timer attached, well, I would think it was a large bomb.

Well what comes out of it after a little work will blow your mind, Ha Ha. The motor needs to be able to run for long periods of time with a lot of starting and stopping.

ester,

mind explaining the reasoning for not working in high humidty environment? if so, what humidity environment you like working in?

also, so I understand.. you just like tip the drum, or how are you collecting once all that kief is everywhere in the drum, like how do you efficiency get it out / collect it?

another question.. haha. how long do you run the motor for, as I hear it, the longer we sift the more contaminants that get into the product.. ?

thanks

The material in the drum has to be really dry to work well rh here gets to the teens or single digit, the drier the better. The 55 gal drum is enamel lined smooth as a baby's butt, most of the kief is on the lower third of the outside drum, i simply have a bench brush and brush it onto a magazine and collect it into a bag until i have enough to refine it. 1st run is 3 min 2nd run 10 min 3rd run to make oil is 30 min, then the material in the inner drum is discarded... Hope this helps you...
