Space Buckets, 130w CFL + 6x3w LED. SpaceJill, LSD and Gigabud!

Moving right along, eh Ekrof? Looking good.

I see where Space Bucket reddit has been pretty active the last few days.

Spent the weeks surfing time on LEDs and am amazed at progression over the last year. Delightful smokeables from 1W emitters at low driving power.

I'm thinking 9-12 watts for a bucket ( CW-WW 1/6 mix ) on well rooted CFL grown seeds. The 10W multi-chip is still interesting. Lot less handiwork per output. We'll see how SAG progresses, eh?

All the Best, CT.

Howdy fellow growers!

I have another update on my plants :)

This is Gigabud at day 20F. Fun weeks are ahead! This plant ended up needing 1 spacer for the stretch, so I'm very happy with its performance so far. Right now I have the main bucket, a stacked 18w LED spacer, and a light-top with 5 bulbs for 134w of CFL.

And here is LSD at day 23F. This plant is definitely a challenge! I'm having a lot of bucket-fun. She is still stretching, but is not very drastic. I decided to anchor and rearrange 3-4 tall tops, you can see some of the string inside the bucket. I aimed for a more even canopy, trying to delay the third stacked spacer... I'll probably have to tweak things a bit, but I like how it turned out. Looks like a tall torus, or something.

Cheers! Comments and suggestions are always welcome. You can click on the images to zoom in.

Hey there! Thanks for the comments :)

I bring you more updates on my plants.

Here is Gigabud at day 25F, budding nicely so far. Lovely strain, minimal stretch and very fast flowering.

And here is LSD at day 28F! I'm using two anchor points to lower the height of the taller tops, I've been readjusting the strings every other day. Stretch should be stopping soon.

Cheers! Hope you like 'em. You can click on the images to zoom in.

Cool setup.

I see early in your thread that there are multiple pots per bucket, but that gigabud looks like it's sitting in a couple gallons of soil? What determines whether you fill the bucket or use containers?

Howdy blynx!

I used the pots for earlt veg, but then transplanted each seedling into a separate Space Bucket. I'm using 10L buckets as my pots, they fit perfectly inside the main bucket.

Here is Gigabud at 5 weeks of flower!

Longtime lurker 1st time thread post.

Really cool setup, since you don't put the fans in the lid, I would imagine that you can stack these fairly easy?

Also have you considered LED lightbulbs like the Cree's or the Phillips 10w's? vs the CFL's especially from a heat stand point..........Or how about a 730nm LED setup. Your design makes that plug and play!

It would be cool to be able to stack 3 or 4 modules and run wiring on one side and a watering system on the other.......if it is even possible to stack them reliably in a situation like that

Good growing :good:

Howdy man!

I can stack as many spacers as the plant needs, though is better to have a short bush to optimize the lumens. In this grow I'm using LED spacers that are awesome for side lighting.

Check this post for the LED lightbulbs! SAG has been working with household bulbs and has gotten great results.

Hope you build a bucket! Here is a closeup of Gigabud I just took.

^ yes thank you for your response!

I am always interested in a new style of gardening that lends itself to micro and simplicity.

I have some 7 gallon buckets, which I am thinking of using, same diameter [5 gal] just about 8 inches taller? Leftover's!

I did quickly browse over the LED link you sent and I will have to read more later, when I get the chance.
My research now is showing that about half the wattage of the LED bulbs [2700] I am using is putting out twice the umols of a 26w CFL [2700k] I have had fantastic results so far and my opinion has been swayed so far as to think, I will NEVER buy another CFL bulb again, a larger leaper far sooner than I ever imagined, but the tech is like computers of the early 90's, when they just exploded.

Thanks for the kind words! :)

Here is the LSD outside of the bucket. This plant is definitely a challenge! Some yellowing and clawing here and there, but I'm pleased with her shape. Had to use a lot of string.

Howdy dudes!

I bring you Gigabud at day 40F, about a month left to harvest.

And my new fans have just arrived! This should mean less light leaks, it has tight blades.

Cheers!
