Dont tell me theres no such thing as too much light

My question is - can a plant go into super stretch mode when its stressed by too much light?
I had a stretchy OG (that I didnt top or train) exceed my height limit in my room during stretch and it just kept going. Its stretched for about three weeks without putting on the bulk the other plants are. It was under a lot of stress just before flower in my veg area during the summer.
Ive been pinching this girl everyday. Im sure shes pissed.
The room is climate controlled and only the the top of the plant was damaged by the light. Everything else underneath is about 6" lower and didnt curl, but it has a bunch of small junk on it.
At night the curl would go away but come back after a few hours of intense light. 18" under the 600 it doesnt curl.
Its stayed green the whole time, but it shows signs of what looks like heat stress 18-24" from the 1000W.
Im sure that its not a pheno thing because I have some plants finishing right next to it and they are a bit shorter with plenty of fat buds, but they have been getting light bleached the whole time. I had the 1000W 18" from the fat buds for awhile, but I didnt see any curl.
There were a couple of male looking flowers that I pulled off the bottom after week 1 but I havent seen any since.
Fed once a day in #5 smartpot. Looks like it could use twice a day now though.
I flushed with low ec solution when I first saw the curl and lowered ec but she faded. I bumped it up and tips slightly burned, so I got it back to what Im feeding everything else.

some plants stretch for 2-5 weeks man.. all depends.. but u said u found some nanners on this one.. from what I see .. looks like stretch ended and buds are starting.. but who knows.. plant looks nice and healthy.. big thick branches.. if u can. tie those branches down.. and get them under the light and see what happens. I got a sativa hybrid that I could start as a 10 inch clone.. and by harvest it would be 4 oz monster with 4-6 colas and 48 inches tall.. filled in like a mofo... butttt took 16 weeks to finish.. I had to get rid of it. I cant afford it . lol. wen u can sell heady indicas for 300 . or sativas for 350 and take double the time. or 400 still double the time in flower.. SOO NOT WORTH IT . unless headsmoke.

Its still stretching like a crazy bitch...
I cant bend the branches anymore. I tried to bend the main and it snapped. Im lucky it stayed on there...lol
The stems are just too rigid from the silica. I lost a few that way on my other plants.
Its Wifi and this one isnt as frosty or have the buds like the others.
We'll see what happens.
No more balls please

Diminished returns and light stress are not the same.
Im talking about light stress, not diminishing returns of electricity and equipment.
Im not even using my entire room at this point and only 1 bulb is being fired.

Heat/light stress generally causes a funky leaf pattern and terpene profile.. they will smell 'off' kinda, and the leaves will throw that 'single' leaf you see so often, even when most people don't realize that's what it is, lol.

It's light stress almost all the time. I fix rooms and sadly see ladies being treated poorly all the time.

People need to switch to high end LED if they want to stick the goddamn bulbs 6" from the tops of the plants, goodness.

Never seen a plant stretch due to stress.

You don't have anything crazy about your room, do you?

I know the smell you are talking about... Like the plant is being vaporized.
Im not getting any of that.
Everything in the room is good.
Been increasing co2 slowly up to 1500ppm now. Was running the room open at first and then tried keeping co2 below 1000. Not sure if thats changed anything.
Ive had some bugs in my runoff, but no sign of any damage

How long are you burning for? You're venting the room as well yes?

What kinda temps you gettin'?

C02 will def. make them grow faster/stretch a bit more if the lights aren't set properly.

Do you see large swings from lights on to lights off? Running a 1k and c02 I can imagine the room isn't that cold.. likely a bit warm.. what's it at during the middle of the dark time?

More than a 5* or so swing can make plants stretch as well.

What kinda nutes you using? Maybe hit it with some bushmaster.

AC set at 75 keeps the room around 80, sometimes it hits 82 if the dehuey has to kick on.
AC is oversized for the 1K and doesnt remove too much water on its own because of its cycling.
Right now I have the 1K and a 600 going and Im putting some veg plants in there during lights on.
Lights out temp stays 74ish.
Im using tanked co2 so it doesnt heat up my room anymore.
Using 6/9 and silica. Ive hit them with some Koolbloom here and there.

Where are you? Is an A/C unit AND a dehu absolutely needed? That seems like overkill. I typically run rooms with 6kw+ and juice and never need a/c or a dehu. Just make sure you've got a ton of fresh air moving around. If you're in a bad area for weather, though... yeah.

How big is the space you're in? I would imagine just running some fresh air through there would keep it plenty even as far as temps and humidity go.. that's all i've done for close to 15 years, but of course.. the weather here is amazing almost year round.

Also, why a 1k and a 600? Different spectrums could also make them stretch more than normal.

They're both HPS, one of them isn't a halide is it? You did say you're vegging in there....

Dont need to be sealed now, I just prefer it.
I vegged in another room.
Only had 1K running during first part of flower.
Im used to 600's and prefer them over 1Ks
Both are HPS
Room was fine while open with 1 light.
The way my room is set up it would be hard to run 2 lights with the room open though.
Temps are around 55-75 now.
RH was 5% in my veg area.
Plant had more nanners.
I tossed it

Haha, well ok then.

Fwiw, 1500ppm is a lot of c02 for that little amount of light.

If what i've read is correct, they will only use the amount of c02 that the amount of light can help them to metabolize, otherwise you are simply wasting it and in some ways, stressing the plants because they are trying to do more than they are physically capable of.

I would be willing to bet if you drop the ppm and/or add more light, you'll see better results.

What kinda intervals were you burning at?
