germination

Germinated a seed in paper towel. After it sprouted I put it in soil. It has been three days and there has been no change. Carefully removed soil around the seed and it is still the same. Any ideas? Should I put it back in the paper towel? I know it is not temp because it sits on a heat mat.

I don't bother with paper towels unless there is a spill. it is totally unneeded and a big waste of time handling sprouts.all ya can do is keep it moist and warm an pray. I plant directly in soil .do not remove it from soil if its already sprouted as you will fuck with the roots. good luck man

:yeahthats

Also... don't just plug in a heatmat and walk away, unless it has a nifty temp setting on it perchance?

Lots of folks have cooked their sprouts. S'posed to save that for alfalfa in the kitchen. :D

Keep it Clean! :D
I use a Hydrofarm heat mat on all my seedlings. Soil temp is critical for good germination. Just put it on a temp regulator and your fine.

I germ seeds by simply planting them into riot cubes a 1/4 deep (tip up) and keeping in a propogator at 75* and about 90% humidity and always get my seeds to sprout within 65-85 hours. When I have them sprouted I stick them right into 4" starter pots and straight under the light. I have never failed to start a seed this way.

I by no standard am a expert on any growing technique. but I had some old seeds and did, the soak in a bowl, soak in paper towels I didn't have good success. Good Hydro shop bought one of those 50 place plastic trays with a lid some Rapid plugs ($25) Canna Start, Canna Rhizotonic, sm both ($34) air pump ($22) air stone & 1/4" tubing Walmart ($8) (also use in res. F&D) did as instructed by hydro shop. It works for me fantastically I have now germ them for friends and have 85% come up on questionable viability of the seed.
they break 2-3 days and 4 sets leaves and roots in 10 days and pland the Rapid plug.
