Okay, clones no longer taking root?!

well, im a basement grower and in the summer its great, i cut a clone, dip it in rooting hormone, put it in a root riot cube put it into a netpot and into my lil DWC cloner system and BOOM 2 weeks or so later, roots

Then, winter came along and TOTALLY screwed that up. I cut a clone and do the same thing as stated above, and its dead within hours to one day

built myself a lil cloner out of a home depot bucket with a 6500k 23w CFL that held humidty great and....sometimes they root but most of the time they dont. I used to use the same cloner in the summer before i learned i could just put them in netpots and had great success. IDK what to do. I dont wanna lose my strains as i grow SOG on a small scale.

any other basement growers have this issue? would just brining the cloner back up to my normal temp apartment make the odds of them rooting easier?

I had this happen to me last winter. I was using this areo cloner forever then one winter clones stop taking root.

In fear of loosing my strains, I bought rappid rooters because I have nothing but success with those although they take much longer to root.

Only about 6 months ago I blew the dust off my aero cloner and started to mess with it. I started by scrubbing everything with a bleach and soap solution. I then bought a new pump, but in your case air stones I believe.

I would start there. Clean everything great and get new stone or two. Your rooting hormone could be contaminated or just plan old.

Me personally, I stopped using hormone altogether when I started cloning with hydroponics. I think mixing the shit with your water posses more of a risk then whatever it supposedly does for the cutting.

What is the temp of your DWC bucket? Winter usually means for dry air with low humidity. Try covering them up for the first 4 or 5 days.

And as I learned from SYNPE on this forum. Add a drop of bleach to every gallon of water or 1ml to every 44 gallons.

Well since you mentioned winter it could be the colder temperatures. So get a thermometer and check the water bath. Most cooking utensil selections in stores have small dial stemmed thermometers for about six bucks. If too cold you can drop an aquarium heater in the cloner. 75 degrees F is a good ballpark figure.

Or your cloner could be contaminated with something nasty. Or your plants could be contaminated with something nasty.

same thing here. went from 100% success to nothing rooting from one batch to the next. someone here told me to put my ez cloner on a 15/15 schedule and a couple have started to root finally but its been about 20 days or so lol.

I clone into rapid rooters into a standard cloning tray. Always have great success. I love them but I did experience about the same thing coming into the colder temps in fall. The water and rapid rooter temps started to drop a little colder then they liked.70-80 deg.(for rooting) I Thru a seedily heating pad under my tray and boom back in business.
Whats your water temp and air temp at in the summer and whats your water/air temp now? If you were rocking it in the summer but now your having a hard time. Hope this helps pull your strains back to health.

Another possibly - if your ventilation isn't running due to cold temps, air will not be exchanged and the plants will use up all available CO2.

Temps IMO, cyanobacteria or other algea/bacteria virus would be #2 guess. Optimal root growth temp is 78F...when I let my aero cloner get below 65 I get no roots...I bought a small 10w aquarium heater for $5 that's preset to 78F, works perfect for the 2 gallons of water in the aero cloner.
