Finally got the flower room temps where i want them .... freakin took long enough !!!

79.7 lights on 40 % RH

74.5 lights off 45% RH
looks like theres enough fresh air coming in during lights off to keep the RH low in the flower room

:woohoo:

thats a phresh filter this time, they would have ordered a phat for me but i figured i would try it out,its an 8x24 but it sure looks huge next to a 6x24....i was thinking in the new lung room idea i would use a couple of say 10x48's but im thinking a couple 8 inch will do just as well...just that one 8 inch fan running flat out should be enough for the flower room im currently running,so having a 6 inch and the 8 inch running at 70% should do well...

yeah, not a big fan of handguns, but since this isnt a gun forum thats all i have to say on the topic.

Hey Unc ..... theres alot of perilite in your soil mixes !!! is there that much in the flowering pots ??? the reason i ask is ... that much perilite will make it airy & you have to water more often . if you cut back on it in the flowering pots ... you might get the less watering that your looking for . '

you probably already know this & i'm just wasting my time .... but in case you didn't think about that ......

Not everybody is into guns Unc ..... its cool :)

I remember when the kids were in grade school. Theyd catch colds constantly and bring them home to the rest of the family. I hate colds. You cant smoke, and you get congested and feel like shit.

As for You Unc...... You sound like Barry O sometimes.... :D Only, that guy kills more women and children then anybody else on this planet. Then he crys about 20 children at sandy hook? All children are must be protected on this planet. He is the one that should be disarmed, not American citizens that keep the guns in their homes for protection.

Eric is another one. Bad person. These guys are as bad as Chenny and Sherff (Oh I ment Bush).

The gun in your neighbors house is a deterrent, just as the nucleur ballistic missiles in our national armament. But the gun at the neighbors keeps you safe from the government that is slowly eroding your rights, and tracking you everywhere, even through cameras as you ride through town. I have cameras a block away, its called Trapnet.

Bottom line: when you see handgun confiscations begin, dont be scared, Be very scared. Just look what happened in Nazi Germany. Its happening here now too. End of rant.

they reformulated the mix slightly and ground everything up finer so it tends to float out since with the big pots i get lazy and just sorta dump a bucket of nutes in and go.i like it better since it wets more evenly and does actually hold moisture better and resist surface compaction....

just gettin it dialed in,this is new territory for me with these larger plants and pot sizes, cant really pick up a 45 gallon pot to judge how heavy it is with water right? so all the old methods i used dont work at this scale, the moisture probe i have only goes so deep so aside from that im just guessing what going on in the lower areas of the pots....really what i need is a big ass scale to set one on so i can have a weight with the pot saturated....so anyway, just working out the technique,i usually dont water to any runoff but i may have to in order to get days off, still getting dry pockets in the medium on the off days from watering but i just dont have enough experience yet with large pots to judge how critical that is....so far being here every single frickin day has worked, maybe its not the best method but the garden has also been very consistent for a while now so im not inclined to mess with it too much...

Dan, those temps sound about Perfect!!
I wish mine were close to that. I checked my min/max temps last night and they were 98º/52º! And thats just in a 24 hr period. I gotta get the room change done, that heat running on and off outta that central air vent is killing me. Suprisingly the plants look pretty good:dunno:

And sorry about my gun comment, I just realized it against the tou here. Oops.

But I will say im not a huge fan of guns, and everyone is entitled to thier opinion. Ive always been a big fan of sorting things out with words or if necessary fists, that way everyone lives to fight another day. But in this day-n-age, in some places, its better to be caught with a gun when ya dont need it, than to be caught without a gun when ya do need it. Theres a lot of armed home invasions in my neck of the woods, ill be damned if somebody is gonna kill my family cause I dont have a gun and some scumbag does.
And yes mine is locked in a safe at all times, so it does take a second to get, but I do feel better about having it.

Oops there I go again.

I've always closed my room vents to hit 85-90 during lights on.... and opened it up with fans at night to drop to around 55-60... am I wasting my time? If I left it all alone my temps would stay pretty consistent at 70-75 at all times with fans on low.... I'm trying to encourage purple in genetics that are pretty strong purple to begin with..... Should I just leave it alone? or keep manipulating temperatures at night? keeping in mind my high elevation and low RH to begin with.....

thoughts from the class?

dont ask me about room temps,i pretty much just let the room do its thing and just try and keep the intake air somewhat consistent, all i really go by is if i feel comfortable in the room,if so then i dont worry too much about the details...

I've been keeping a closed loop during the day, recycling the same air to raise temperature.... Low RH round these parts so PM is not an issue.... I vent fresh air maybe 1-2 times during the day.... at night, its open to the outdoor air.....mostly...

When it comes to temps, the main rule by which I try to operate is to maintain no greater than a 10 degree swing throughout the day.

If I'm reading your post correctly, I'd leave things alone and try to keep things in that 70-75 window at all times. I'd be surprised to learn that 70 is "undesirable" or "too low."

Too cold, though, and you'll slow down your plants metabolism (and if you're growing in dirt, think about why we throw food in the fridge to preserve it -- to slow down microbial/bacterial activity -- so the same will occur in your medium). Too hot, though, and your plants metabolize in overdrive, which means they'll need more water/etc to keep up with the increase in photosynthesis..
