homegrownfantasy? wtf?

bulldog, grasshopper, not much loss except for the principle of another shop gone.

do these shops get a license to open some where else? they should take it to the european court if they have to, it's totally unjust and arbitrary to shut those businesses down due to being near a school, when no one under 18 can enter anyway without them risking their license. this is prejudice plain and simple, it's a sneaking way to reduce the coffee shops using "what about the children!" to excuse more tightening of the screws.

reading what the workers that work on these shops write, it seems they will simply lose their licenses, and have to close down.

not sure why, but i use that place a lot for day time meet ups, will miss them for sure. didnt even realize they were closing all those shops. how does it make sense to close them down when kids can't get in anyway? is there no legal way to fight this in Holland? seems totally unjust and doesn't really make sense. they could tell them to shutter the windows so kids don't see the smoking from out side, but closing the whole shop when kids are forbidden from entering is ridiculous.

de Graal is the one I'm going to miss the most. Give it a try if you have not already. Good people. Good gear. Some really nice hashes. Utopia was brilliant as well. Again just a few steps away from the Police Station. Crazy. To give an example of the total hypocrisy of this legislation you will see de Kabouter on the list. De Kabouter is right in the middle of the de Pijp red light district, (around the corner from de Graal) right next to several operating windows.
So it is ok for the windows to be within 250 meters of a school but not a coffee shop. Why are bars not also closed down in a similar manner? They are selling dangerous, addictive substances that lead to violence, death and ruin many lives.
However I have noticed a real conservative streak in Amsterdam people regarding cannabis. While shopping for an apartment recently I was quite open about my plans to smoke it up during my stay. I thought it only fair to disclose that information. So far I've had a 100% hit rate of the owner not wanting me (in apartments that allow smoking) due to 'not wanting to promote Amsterdam as a cannabis city' or 'difficult to get rid of the smell leading to complaints from other guests.'
Again a double standard as the smell of a dangerous, chemically enhanced, addictive, killer drug like tobacco is just fine. Cannabis is not.
A sad reflection of people's attitudes I'm afraid. The net result in this case is I book a cheap hotel in the centrum with a free brekkie instead and don't end up spending 2x as much money on an apartment in a neighbourhood where I'd also eat out, shop and generally spread my tourist euro's around in that area.

Maybe they will be more open minded in Spain.....

Here's a code to get you $25 off a judge pass and even a day pass! On the page where you order your tickets type "Danko" in the space provided. You just saved yourself $25!
So now you could get the day pass for like $12.50!

I'll be there. Got my expo, air and lodgings sorted. Looking forward to the tokin' bus. In case I'm feeling healthy what kind of length walk it is from say Voyagers to the expo?

Uh, two years ago it would have been a 2 hour walk. Not sure where the expo is this year, but the bus ride then was 20-25 min, and it left about 5 blocks from voyager.
