Hey folks,

Wanted to share some pictures of the stuff that comes from my runs. I'd love to see some pictures of your own personal creations as well!

I'll start it off and update as I get more stuff made!

Thanks for the post. Can I ask what you dislike about the shatter? In my experience, my high CBD projects have always come out as shatters like this. Clubs and patients seem to like it though.

ICOVO- Its the color and lack of clarity. I keep getting shatter like this and cant move it to save my life. I want that 1/2" clear glass. Are you heat purging or vac purging your comb?

That was just vacuum purged. Its my favorite consistency to work with though, such a treat! Tested really well too.

Shatter/glass (stable oil) comes from fresh material, freshly dried is the best, also dewaxed/winterized oil is much more stable the oil that hasn't seen these processes. low temperatures as to not decarboxylate during the purge, Proper thin film purge under -29.9 in. hg. Avoid folding also, almost all thick film purging with heat turns into wax. It allows nucleation points to form much more easily than when thinned out.

I know you want "thick" slabs of glass without folding, but it is hard for oil to stiffen up with out being purged in a thin film. Especially 1/2" good luck getting that to shatter up. There just isn't enough surface area exposed for it to be purged properly into shatter(depending on your materials age and purge temperatures of course). More surface area the better, this isn't opinion it's a fact, thin film purging is more effective then thick.

would you dry wet clothes in a pile or would you hang them out individually?

IF your oil is coming out that dark it's due to your cannabinoids being partially decarboxylated. This is most likely happened from using old material, material that was kept in less than ideal storing conditions and or to much heat during your purge. Partially decarboxylated oil can still be stable, but fully decarboxylated oil has always been thick oil consistency.

IF your oil is coming out that dark it's due to your cannabinoids being partially decarboxylated. Thanks for the info, definitely sounds like you know your stuff. As for my shatter in the first post, that material was actually 100% large nugs that were immediately blown into wax after being taken off the plant and semi-dried for 4-5 days. The consistency I think, is fantastic, as its extremely easy to work with and people really seem to like it. My high CBD strains ALWAYS come out as a darker amber shatter, such as this one. That particular strain was Harlequin if you're interested and yielded 70g from 398g of material.

The blonde wax in the first post is my Banana Kush. I also used straight nug for that, and believe it or not, was able to obtain 63g off of 238g of material. That shattered my guys old record yield of 21%. Do you have any pictures of wax you've made in the past? I'd love to see your work!

For sure man I hear you and understand the theory behind the thin film purge. I have seen shatter that was super thick and still had little dimples in it where you could tell there was a vac release that happened as it was a solid mass.. You think they thin film purged and then at the very end used a mold or something? I still cannot get a good shatter unfortunately, I am just beginning to understand the nature of honeycomb...

No, my mistake. The shatter is Harlequin and it was a whole nug run. The honeycomb is the Banana Kush which was also a whole nug run. They weren't rerun or anything like that though.

I am not positive but I can definitely find out for you!

Out of curiosity IC OVO, why do you make wax from stuff that yields as high as 18%? Wouldn't you get more $$$ selling as nug instead? Most of the stuff I have seen running 18% would sell for around $2500/pound at wholesale. So even if you sold at $30/g wholesale, you would still get $100 less than selling it just as nug. Then whomever buying it would get less ROI having to sell the oil at $50/g rather than just $40/eighth. Do you have a reason for doing this? Am I mistaken in my numbers?

Going to be finishing up some winterized oil in the coming days. Also have about a 5 pound bag of finely ground trim that came from an auto trimmer that is begging to be winterized. Hoping to get at least 200 grams after winterization.

The Nice Golden one is a nug run of Critical 47 and GSC. The other 2 are from Plat and Gdp trim. These are my very first runs ever. Tried them all burns great, taste great, smells amazing and gets me stoned.

The runs that produced this awesome wax was outdoor nug, and I really don't have a market at the clubs for outdoor bud. I don't take my stuff to the grey market either, so I really had nothing to do with the outdoors other than make it into wax.

I'll be doing an outdoor run next seasons solely for the purpose of waxing it all. I'll be running the Banana from the first post, which yielded an insane 26%, by far the highest I have gotten.

That's funny, banana kush has been my highest yielder ever at 28%. Still looking for a strain that will get 29%!

Haha that is amazing. I guess this strain is just a great wax maker. Even if I don't run it in my rooms again, I will always keep the strain around just because it yields so much wax. The quality is absolutely outstanding as well.

I only had 3 Banana plants outside this year for a test run. They were between 4-5 feet tall in 3 gallon pots. Next year I am doing 12 of them in 50 gallon smart pots. I'll veg them indoors under 2000W, probably beginning in January. Hoping to get 3-5 lbs of wax out of it
