DWC: Roots going brown

Hi All,

I'm currently running a DWC setup with one plant per tub. 30L per tub.

The roots in the main root ball are going brown but the new growth looks to be white..

Running :

Canna Flores A/B
Canna Cannazyme
Cyco Silcate
PH Down

I do :
- Weekly Water Changes, and rinse the res out at the same time
- Completely blacked out the tub, no light leaks.
- Water not too cold not too warm
- Flushed
- Rinsed roots under hose :p
- Increase air to tub, new air-stones, new pumps.
- Top feed set to once every 3 hours.

I can't seem to see why they are starting to turn brown, and could use some suggestions.

Any suggestions or help would be appreciated,

Thanks,

mero :thank you:

Also the roots don't seem to be slimy or have algae on them.. there just going brown colour. The rest of the plant looks to be fine and perfectly healthy.

Thanks

Pull on root if root pulls off easy and leaves behind the inner root then you are getting root disease if they are nice and firm and don't break off into mush then you are fine

imo&e top feed isnt essential.. i.e Capillary action of [Rockwool] and also the spray from the Airstone must reach 8"plus

I cut down the cubes to fit in the basket. When transplanted into larger 3" cubes that is

Heres a mistake i have made in the past... when you rinse the roots make sure the water has SAT for a while to allow evaporation etc

MOST of the time its either high temps, low do levels,or inconsistency in keeping the 2 mentioned above consistent the entire grow, things go wrong very quickly in dwc and can also be fixed ,but once the roots die or start to brown in an area they wont heal ,but will continue to grow and get healthy afterwards,so maybe you got nutin to worry about!wait it out and see!

bennies will keep those roots PEARLY WHITE!ghetto-gro uses the heisenberg tea in his system and runs quite high temps no problem.each to their own!every time you change out the rez u add a cup or two of bennies, it wont realy chande the ec but will introduce beneficials into the water.

You didn't mention the res temps, but chances are there's your culprit.

As PT has said above all very true...
If you have new growth , stick at it...

Also the plant keeps a balance between root mass and vegatation if you have recently removed foliage or trimmed something back plants will sometimes shed root mass as it is not required anymore. Have you tried Peroxide in your rez?

Peace
