Here's another pic for the thread, my OE in veg. Dubi, this may be the most compact, CFL friendly plant I've ever grown! Nice sativa-hybrid leaves, zero space between nodes. Talk about perfect for compact grows or dense plantings.

I'm planning to veg till its root bound in a large container - 15gallons or so. Top her a few times and scrog her. :D

Wow...that's mighty pretty, Terpene. Very tempting! My first OE grow was two plants...one was heavily sativa -huge sprawling thang - the other was this furry tarantula of a plant that was about a quarter of the size of the other one. They were both wonderful...I look forward to watching your progress.

Beautiful Orient Express seedling Terpene :)

It's the compact branchy OE pheno, grows short, compact and robust like the chinese hash plant pheno but likes to branch strong thanks to the vietnamese sativa influence, producing a very high yield/m2 at the end of flowering.

Here's a nice Orient Express individual i selected lately from the standard line.

It's the massive yielding compact sativa pheno, it takes a bit more to mature (60-65 days) than other more indica chinese dominant phenos but final yield is real huge. The other taller very dominant Vietnam Black phenos also yield a lot but they grow quite tall and can easily go to 12 weeks of flowering.

This compact sativa pheno has a great balance of sativa and indica traits, stays short and has a moderate flowering time. I also love her organic hashy vietnam black taste and motivating effect

Of couse, always organics :)

That looks a bit like the really heavy yielder I had except mine was taller and branchier with a longer flowering time which means I probably had the other VB dominant pheno. Mine had these huge long fingered elegant leaves. It was a beautiful plant. Everyone I showed my room to was floored by that plant. It had a cola that was almost like a baseball bat.

How rare are those long flowering VB pehnos? I've been planning to grow out OE again to look for a keeper since I was unable to make clones that first time and I lost both my awesome OE and NJ plants. I crossed that awesome OE to a Destroyer so I am looking forward to seeing if she passed on her traits.

Bad luck?

Bad luck?

Man, I have had bad luck with my attempt at O.E, let me explain.
First of all I am a small grower who is just after some decent head stash, using a 250w in a 75x75x160 cm tent. What I usually do is start seed's and grow them till they show pre flower's and then clone, then veg the clone's for a week or two then flower.
Out of 5 O.E seed's I end up with 1 female, so I clone her and into my tent she goes. I veg them till there about 10 to 12 inches and then flip to flower and then they stretch and stretch, after two week's they have nearly hit the top. I could have bent them or tied them down but I don't like all the agro of doing that, plus there Sativa dom and there going to carry on stretching, so I decide to cut them down as I have clone's of other strain's ready to go.
Now I still had a rooted clone of O.E, so I decide to put her in the tent as a filler plant and flower her with no veg as I am desperate for a taste of O.E. She stretched to 12 inches and I'm thinking this would make a great sea of green plant, two week's into flower and she herm's, (pistils turn brown and she stops putting out bud).
I have no light leak's and she's not been stressed, I think I've just been unlucky with this one as I've not heard of herm's in the line. Never mind I have 5 seed's left so will try again soon, Ace are my favourite breeder's and everything I have grown from them has been fantastic, just this bitch, Lol.
Here is a pic of the trouble maker.

I was wondering if anyone could identify the type of pheno I have with this OE plant.

Vegging for 40 days in 1.5ltr of coco mix. Its about 22inches tall, long internode spacing but strong stems with large leaves. I can't remember the smell unfortunately.
Almost one of the tallest in 25 plants which include Panama, Congo and Killer Skunk (UGORG).

The other 4 OE plants are much shorter and branchy.

Should be excited that it might be the rare Vietnamese pheno?

Orient Express (feminized) is a hell of a plant. Very dense! Is the feminized version the compact high yielding pheno crossed back to itself?

View Image

I just read through this whole thread and somewhere a ways back Dubi says it is a Yunnan female reversed and crossed with a VB female. So it should have the same pheno variation as regular just all females.

The structure is a bit different than mine but that is likely due to some training you did? My plant grew very Christmas tree shaped but it was quite lanky. The leaves look very much like my plant did except yours are maybe a tad bit fatter and shorter fingered. All in all your plant looks quite a bit like the one I had which I believe was a VB leaning pheno.

It's even yellowing slightly from the bottom like mine did. If it's anything like the one I had it will be quite hungry in flower, needing a bit more nitrogen than you might think. Mine grew quite large. With a bit over a month veg it ended up about 4 1/2 feet tall. Be prepared to support the buds once it gets flowering.

The internode length looks VB, versus the Joshua Tree-like "hairy arms" growth of the more Yunnan-leaners.

I think my OE was VB-leaning too, but had thinner darker-green leaves than yours. Also had some purpling on the stems. Rubbing the stem produced an Old Spice aftershave smell. A couple of C99bx1 x VbT crosses I made that are currently vegging have that same stem smell too, so I trust it comes from the Vb.

My OE took 14 weeks to flower after vegging, and 12 weeks from vegged clone.

This pheno has one of the cleanest and clearest of highs, with a touch of eurphoria.
Having a vape of some with my morning coffee, as we type.

Best of luck with your girls. :tiphat:

Greetings window,

Im sorry to hear about the problem. It's very strange that the plant matured the pistils in only 2 weeks of flowering, it's a sign that something wrong happened. I can not see clearly the flowers in detail in your pic, please pm with more details and will send you a replacement.

Yes, her structure is very dense! The previous Orient Express fem stock, stock from 2011-May 2013 (i think is the one you are growing now) was an Orient Express standard F1 selection, looking for the denser, early flowering and best yielding pheno in the F2 generation, then one of the females was reversed to pollinate her sisters from this same pheno.

To produce the new and current Orient Express fem stuff (available since June 2013) we selected different very high yielding vietnam black dominant females coming from the standard line and intermediate (50/50 %) vietnamese sativa/chinese indica females coming from the feminized line then they were all pollinated by a very fast flowering and high yielding chinese indica hash plant pheno (reversed, also from the fem line). Sorry, sometimes i feel in trouble trying to explain all this details in english :)

Dubi, you are right about high yielding. Here's mine at about 8 weeks-ish. It's only been under (6) 23watt cfls for all of flower and we're approaching beer bottle size for nearly every cola. This one has a pretty strong "dank, but creamy" cannabis smell to it.

Orient Express at its 10 week chop. This plant only had 6 CFLs lighting it, but produced so much bud I ended up cooking with everything that wasn't deemed impressive enough. Just an exceptional yielding plant. Smacked a lower branch with a male Napalm (fire og x destroyer) as well, should be an interesting cross. Strong smelling plant, very "traditional" cannabis smell with woody / creamy overtones.

That looks nice Terpene. Will have to put this on my list.

This is an old hash plant gifted to me many years ago.She is a true hash plant with hashy smell and taste.
Special in many ways and would like some seed from her.OE looks like a good fit.

I don't have many pics of her and thx dubi for allowing me to show her here

Looking forward to smoke reports.

Take care.

Hola Gandalb :)

Thanks for posting, I'm glad to see you are growing some of our old classic genetics this year, hope you have had a good season.

Im happy to announce that the new Orient Express standard reproduction has been successful, a wide variety of OE phenos phenos (very vietnamese black dominant expressions, the intermediate sativa/indica phenos and my favourite hash plant chinese pheno) were pollinated by 2 different males separately (one early flowering sativa male and in other place the male used was also a sativa expression of moderate flowering time).
